Week 7 DraftKings Main Slate – Optimal Lineup Plays

The players suggested last week got me scores between 127 and 152 points. Within range to win some money and make the pay lines. Our start of the week last week was a highly rostered chalk play. But Raheem Mostert was priced too low not to play, and you were likely behind the eight ball if you didn’t. Our QB options were mostly a miss last week. At the RB position, Mostert, Kyren Williams, D’Andre Swift, and Chuba Hubbard all had good weeks. D’Onta Foreman and Emari Demercado were our misses here. Paying up for stud WRs last week was the correct call, as both Tyreek Hill and Cooper Kupp put up slate-breaking performances. Ja’Marr Chase, DJ Moore, and Calvin Ridley did not have the games we were hoping for. Drake London was a good call as a GPP/contrarian play. For TE, I believed Hockenson was primed for a monster TE1 overall game. This did not come to fruition. Logan Thomas flopped as well. But the two Falcons TEs (Kyle Pitts and Jonnu Smith) both provided excellent value and double-digit points. Paying down for defense helped us as well.

The slate for Week 7 looks like an interesting one when trying to determine where to pay up. I’m looking to build around Kenneth Walker and stack the pack. Also, glancing at my list of players this week, I seem to have quite a few guys from the same four teams. I promise I am aware I can use every team in the main slate. Anyway, let’s get to work and build our Week 7 lineup.

Remember: Let K9 eat and STACK THE PACK!

Quarter Back

Patrick Mahomes $8300 (vs. LAC) – Mahomes gets a divisional matchup with the Chargers, who are ranked dead last vs. opposing QBs. Either pay up for Mahomes or pay down considerably.

Jordan Love $5800 (@ DEN) – The Denver Broncos defense has not been able to find much success this season. They are going to be a unit worth targeting all year. Jordan Love should have his full arsenal of weapons at his disposal.

Geno Smith $6000 (vs. ARI) – In another divisional matchup, Geno Smith gets the Arizona Cardinals. The Arizona Cardinals are likely going to be without Kyler Murray for at least another week, so the biggest question for this game is whether Arizona can keep pace. If they can, Geno Smith may not need to do much in the passing game, so there is risk involved.

Running Back

Start of the Week:    Kenneth Walker $7000 (vs. ARI) – Kenneth Walker has one of the best setups of the week at the RB position. Walker gets the 30th-ranked defense vs. opposing RBs at home. Additionally, Zach Charbonnet is not practicing due to a hamstring injury.

Josh Jacobs $ 7400 (@ CHI) – Josh Jacobs has an optimal setup for Week 7. Backup QB + defense that has trouble with the run + opposing backup QB = monster performance.

Aaron Jones $6800 (@ DEN) – As I mentioned in the intro, I am looking to stack Packers this week. If Aaron Jones is back from his hamstring injury, he is worthy of a spot in your lineup. Denver has been abysmal, stopping opposing ground games this season.

Zach Evans $4000 (vs. PIT) – Zach Evans will be making his first start of his NFL career with Kyren Williams and Ronnie Rivers out this week. This price and volume is too good to pass up. The Steelers are also ranked 24th vs. RBs this season. Let’s roll the dice.

Contrarian/GPP Play: Jerome Ford $5100 (@ IND) – Kareem Hunt scored the TD against a stingy 49ers defense in the Week 6 upset. However, Jerome Ford had more carries and 1.0 YPC higher than Kareem Hunt. Ford has a good matchup against the Colts as they rank 21st vs. opposing RB’s. I think Ford has sneaky upside here and shouldn’t carry a high ownership percentage.

Wide Receiver

Davante Adams $8200 (@ CHI) – Another squeaky wheel situation brewing in Vegas. I will always play an alpha WR after they express frustration to the media about their usage/stats. Davante Adams told the media this week he was upset with his lack of involvement in the offense. Jimmy G is out, but I expect Hoyer to force-feed Davante against a beatable Bears secondary. If anything, Jimmy G being out may help Davante’s ownership percentage.

Cooper Kupp $9500 (vs. PIT) – I don’t think I can ever in good faith not put a healthy Cooper Kupp or Tyreek Hill in this column. They are both cheat codes seeing usage that is simply bonkers. Tyreek Hill isn’t available in the main slate this week so Kupp is here. Kupp is pricey, but, you get what you pay for.

DK Metcalf $6800 (vs. ARI) – DK Metcalf’s ability to put up big numbers will be slightly hinged upon Arizona’s ability to keep this game competitive. However, there should be enough meat on the bone early in the game for DK to produce. Possibly squeaky wheel situation here as well.

Jaxon Smith-Njigba $3900 (vs. ARI) – JSN is coming off his best game as a pro in Week 6. It is also one week after Seattle’s bye. This is not a coincidence. The bye week is usually when we see rookies get more integrated/involved in the offense. We also have to remember that JSN missed time in training camp with his wrist injury, which slowed his development. There is risk here, but I like the matchup and opportunity for the rookie to score his first career TD.

Rashee Rice $4700 (vs. LAC) – Could a WR1 finally be emerging in KC? His playing time and usage have been going up. Now, Rice gets the 31st-ranked defense vs. WRs in the Chargers. Rice has been running 64% of his routes in the slot. If I can get Mahomes number one WR target this cheap, sign me up.

Amari Cooper $6100 (@ IND) – Deshaun Watson returned to practice on Thursday. However worth noting Cooper was able to put up solid numbers vs. the 49ers with PJ Walker as his QB. Amari Cooper has a great matchup against a very weak Colts secondary. I like Amari Cooper this week, and even more so if Watson is back in the lineup.

Zay Flowers $5700 (vs. DET) – Zay Flowers has a Week 7 matchup with the high-powered Detroit Lions. The Lions score points, which should keep the game competitive. Zay Flowers is also Lamar’s most targeted WR. If they are going to keep Zay priced this low, I’m going to use him.

Romeo Doubs $4900 (@ DEN) – Sticking with the theme of stacking the Pack, I am going to use Romeo Doubs against Denver’s secondary. Romeo Doubs Week 5 dud could suppress his ownership, which is good for us. I don’t think he will be shadowed by Surtain, so he should have enough opportunities to produce.

Christian Watson $5600 (@ DEN) – Same as Doubs, except he is the big “splash play” guy in this offense. With the bye, he should be at his healthiest. I expect at least one big play from Watson this week.

Tight End

Jonnu Smith $3600 (@ TB) –  I’m going to continue to put Jonnu Smith in this column every week until they price him accordingly. Jonnu Smith has scored at least 8.7 points in every game since Week 2. For this price, with his role in that offense, I’ll take this every week.

Luke Musgrave $3300 (@ DEN) – STACK THE PACK! Luke Musgrave saw seven targets in that disastrous MNF game before the bye. I expect the rookie TE was further integrated into the offense during the bye. We have seen multiple instances where Love and Musgrave just missed connecting on a huge play. I’m willing to bet this is the week they finally connect on one.

Michael Mayer $2700 (@ CHI) – Michael Mayer is coming off his best game as a pro where he produced a line of 5/75/0 in Week 6. At this price, we can use some high-end options elsewhere.

D/ST

Cleveland Browns $3300 (@ IND) – This is the best D/ST play of the week. The Browns are feeling supremely confident after upsetting the 49ers and now get Gardner Minshew.

Chicago Bears $2900 (vs. LV)A West Coast team coming to the East Coast with a backup QB? Take a chance here for less than $3k.

Baltimore Ravens $2500 (vs. DET) – I tried to recommend the Buccaneers against the Lions last week. I mentioned Goff’s home/road splits. Instead, Goff put up 350 passing yards with two TD’s. The Ravens’ defense is much better than the Bucs, so for $2500, I’ll go back to this well again. If you aren’t paying up, it’s slim pickings.

If you can afford them: Bills $4200 (@ NE), Raiders $3800 (@ CHI), Commanders $3500 (@ NYG)
