Week 3 is on the way.  We will have a detailed fantasy injury report tomorrow from Brent so I’m going to hold off on the plethora of injury news.  Be sure to check it out.

We’ve got all kinds of things going on here at Razzball, so here is a bit of a roundup:

You can see all our Week 3 Rankings in one place here. If you are ever looking for the link it’s the first one under 2010 Fantasy Football Features over there to the left a bit.

Our Week 3 QB/RB/WR Contest is in full swing.  Be sure to get your entry in.  It’s free and you can win stuff!

We need a couple more teams for the Week 3 Razzball 10 Team FanDuel league.  See if you can beat my team.

Check out our first installments of Statistical Strategery.

Be sure to check out Evan Silva’s Week 3 Matchup article.  One of my few must reads each week.

And while I have you here, let’s take a look at some random stats that attacked me:

  • The Chicago Bears are stuffing the run at a clip of 1.7 yards per carry.  The Packers have run over the Bears in recent history, but that was with Ryan Grant.
  • The running back with the biggest percentage of his teams plays is the craptastic Caddilac Williams. Hrm? Almost half (48%) of the Bucs plays go through Caddy.  Good thing he’s averaging 2.6 yards per carry.  I think the Steelers may lower that number for him.
  • Brandon Marshall has been targeted 6 times inside the 5 yard line.  Three receivers are 2nd with 3 targets.  It makes his ZERO touchdowns even more perplexing.  Buy low?
  • The San Francisco 49ers defense has given up 4 first downs via the run.
  • Roddy White has been targeted an insane 36 times.  It won’t change much this season.
  • 75% of Miles Austin‘s 20 receptions have gone for first downs. The dude is on fire.
  • The New York Jets defense have been the worst on third downs this season, giving up a first down 53% of the time.
  • In the last 3 years Jay Cutler at home — 31 TDs/16 INTs, Away — 27 TDs/29 INTS.
  • Matt Moore and Michael Vick have both been sacked 8 times, but one has a QB rating over 100 and another has one under 50.
  • There are 4 quarterbacks with 10+ 20 yard completions.  Schaub, Rivers, Romo and Kyle Orton.  Orton is tied for the league lead with 11. Don’t sleep on him if he’s available or maybe grab him in a trade for a backup.
  • Jay Cutler leads the league in yards per attempt wit 10.1.  Amazingly Trent Edwards is last in yards per attempt with 4.6.   Sadly Joe Flacco is 4th to last with 5.2.
  • The Indianapolis Colts have given up 21 1st downs via the rush. Sadly Moreno is dunski.

  1. Greg says:

    @Doc- this is for islesguru. The crazy cat is in disney world obssessed about ff trades…..he needs a life….so I’m an enabler. I told him I would post his ? for him but that he has to buy u whiskey when he gets home.

    in PPR league, keeper league, quasy dyantay league: Trading either vjax $9 or steve smith nyg $2 for crabtree $2….he needs to know who to trade vjax or smith…..thx G

  2. hideousmutants says:

    1. Is Keiland Williams worth dropping Donald Brown or Marshawn Lynch for?
    2. Is JC Superstar too much to give up for Brandon Marshall? (I have Turner, SJax and McCoy for my 2 RBs and Flex)

  3. Nick says:

    @Anyone: Start D. Thomas over Hines Ward this week right?

  4. gza says:

    Doc, who should I put in my flex for this week?

    Brandon Jacobs
    Donald Brown
    Derrick Mason
    Jabar Gaffney

  5. The Peoples Champ

    The Peoples Champ says:

    As of Wednesday you had McNabb 10th and Orton 14th in your QB rankings. Now with Moreno’s injury, Orton should get a boost in value. I should still go with McNabb right?

    I’m just concerned the Skins may control the entire game on the ground. Any random stats to make this decision easier? I know either way whichever guy I bench will have a huge day…

  6. Doc

    Doc says:

    @Greg: I’d rather trade Smith. Of course he can’t rely on VJax playing one snap this season.

    @hideousmutants: Tough call, they just resigned Torain so we could see a committee even if Portis is gone. I think I would hold.

    As long as Marshall is a big upgrade at starting WR I’d do it.

    @Nick: Ward

    @gza: Brown

    @The Peoples Champ: I’m still with McNabb because they have no running backs.

  7. cantaloupe says:

    in a start 10man start 3wr league i own miles austin, roddy white, dwayne bowe, and hines ward (only can keep 4wrs)

    im waiting for bowe to break out, but i just don’t know if that will ever happen with cassel throwing the ball & planning on ward posting solid stats with ben’s return

    with jeremy maclin, dez bryant, malcolm floyd, and kevin walter as free agents, should i drop bowe or ward? (it costs $ per transaction, so want this to be a permanent move)

    thanks doc

    p.s. with batch starting this week, why do you start ward over d.thomas?

  8. Matt Leinart says:

    My crappy team just got a little crappier with Moreno’s injured hammy. Who would you go with in the flex spot: Fred Taylor, Jacoby or Wallace? We get .5 PPR. I’m leaning towards Taylor, though I might go Jacoby just because I think his upside might be higher.

  9. Darwin says:

    hey Doc,

    I got a trade proposed to me:
    I would give up Hines Ward + Ryan Matthews, in I would receive Roddy White.

    do you think it’s a good trade?
    Thx D.

  10. brotha b says:

    hey doc who should I start for 3WR and my Flex?

    Bryant, Dez WR DAL
    Floyd, Malcom WR SD
    Ward, Hines WR PIT
    Clayton, Mark WR STL
    Jackson, Brandon RB GB
    Jones, Thomas RB KC
    Charles, Jamaal RB KC
    Harvin, Percy WR MIN

  11. Donald87 says:

    Buckhalter (not super clear on his role w/Maroney around) or Jacoby Jones (more targets with AJ dinged?) in a PPR?

  12. friar says:

    Who would you play in a 0.5 PPR flex spot this week: Buckhalter or D. Thomas? I could also drop either one for Fred Taylor, but the NE running situation makes me nervous.

  13. cruisinkc says:

    Need some help for my 16 team league again. Scoring for WRs and TEs is 1 point every 2 catches, 1 point every 10 yards and 6 points for a TD. For RBs its 1 point every 4 catches, 1 point every 10 yards, and 6 points for a TD. Kickers its 3 for every field goal and 1 for extra point. Starters I already decided on are Jay Cutler, Steven Jackson, and Larry Fitzgerald.

    Pick one at each position:
    RB: Jonathan Stewart or Marshawn Lynch
    WR: Wes Welker or Johnny Knox
    TE: Heath Miller or Tony Scheffler
    K: Atlanta or Indy

  14. Doc

    Doc says:

    @cantaloupe: I think you need to keep Ward. Once Ben gets back he’ll be better. I like Hines over DT just because I’m not positive how McDaniels is going to use him.

    @Matt Leinart: I’d lean Jacoby as well.

    @Darwin: I’d go for it.

    @brotha b: Dez, Floyd, Harvin, JC

    @Donald87: Bucky

    @friar: DT

    @cruisinkc: Lynch, Welker, Scheffler, Indy

  15. hitts1 says:

    Doc…….must start 2 rb’s out of these 4: foster, best, portis, buckhalter. Are the matchups good enough to bench either foster or best?

  16. Doc

    Doc says:

    @hitts1: No. Especially with Portis hurting and Maroney in the picture.
