  1. STL says:
    (link)

Is Jonathan Stewart droppable in PPR at this point or would you drop someone else? I would like to hold on to all three TEs because both of my potential opponents in the final round are weak at TE. I’m needing a defense this week.

    QB: Cam Newton

RB: Charcandrick West, Denard Robinson, Shaun Draughn, Jonathan Stewart, Tim Hightower, Frank Gore, Bryce Brown

WR: Allen Robinson, Antonio Brown, Alshon Jeffrey

TE: Delanie Walker, Jordan Reed, Julius Thomas

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@STL: I think he is. Sounds like they are going to save him for the playoffs.

  2. Jake says:
    (link)

I’m a little nervous about Gurley tonight against a stout Tampa D. And it’s Thursday night football which has sucked all year. My running backs are below would I need 3. I know you and everyone else has Gurley ranked high so would it be crazy to bench him ?
    Gurley
    Lacy
    Hightower
    Robinson
    James White
    Gio
I feel like I will be leaving a lot of points on the bench . Which 3 would you feel the most confident in starting ?

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jake: I think you have to start him. I’d probably go Gurley, Robinson, and Hightower.

  3. Wendy says:
    (link)

I’m also nervous about Gurley tonight and I have d Martin – I hate starting two players on Thur night. Also a bit worried regarding freeman he just hasn’t done much lately. I’m up against Peterson and Johnson this week
    Please pick three:
Freeman, Martin, gurley, d Williams, Hightower

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Wendy: Yeah, you’re not the only one. I think you have to go with Gurley and Williams here. Good luck!

  4. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    1) I have Matty No Ice and TyGod for my QB1 and QB2. Smith and Yates are available. Do I dump a bench guy who I won’t play for either one of those QBs and bench Ryan?

    2) Coin toss on Evans or Watkins?

    3) Worried about Olsen not playing much? I can grab Gates to play for him.

    0.5 PPR – 3 point bonus at 250 yards passing/85 yards receiving/100 yards rushing – 6 point bonus at 335 yards passing/135 yards receiving/150 yards rushing – 6 point per rushing/receiving TD – 4 point per passing TD

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Wilsonian: Could be Matty too much Ice. I’d rather roll out with the two you got. Yeah, both are really close in the scheme of things. Watkins has the higher ceiling this week, based on my rankings, but I’m nervous with him. I think Olsen should be okay, but Gates is a fine substitute.

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

@Jay: thank you sir. Think I’ll roll with my QBs and Evans. I like Watkins, but I know he’ll be a bust right when I need him most. I’ll grab Gates and see how things play out over the next couple of days and may sub him in. My opponent has Rivers, too, so that could help offset things.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Wilsonian: Yeah, Watkins has always been raw to me. Good luck!

      • Crapshoot Kershaw says:
        (link)

@Jay: it’s Matt Light Ice, that level of brew.

  5. Coozie says:
    (link)

Have 2 questions, Staffords vs Saint or Smith vs Ravens?

Also can use 2 from this list of RB’s : Bolden vs Titans / Brown or Michael vs Browns, leaning twords bolden I just hate trusting patriots running backs.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Coozie: Going Stafford there. And I’m going Bolden, but I do feel the same. Patriots running backs is the troll zone.

  6. Jack says:
    (link)

Flex – Martavis Bryant, Delanie Walker, Bryce Brown, or Javorius Allen? Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jack: I think Allen there. If it’s a PPR, probably Bryant.

  7. Jack says:
    (link)

Flex – Gary Barnidge, Tyler Lockett, Javorius Allen, Bryce Brown, or Darren McFadden? Thx.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Jack: Going Allen there.

  8. alegendlives says:
    (link)

    help for this week please!

    1) tampa d, stl d, or steelers D this week

    2) in my flex, would you go Sammy Watkins, martavis, or tim hightower

    3) josh brown or matt praeter at kicker

    best of luck to everyone!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @alegendlives: 1) Tampa, 2) Hightower, and 3) Brown.

      • alegendlives says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

thanks. yea I’m real torn between Tampa D tonight or steelers against a very vanilla Denver team IN pittsburg vs tampa on the road… but I mean rams only have gurley I feel like.

at kicker I’m kind of concerned about the panthers matchup. on one end their d is so tough the giants offense could stall a lot and kick a ton of fieldgoals, on the other he (josh brown) has been missing a lot lately and Carolina might just stomp the giants all together defensively….hmm thanks for your input. happy holidays.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@alegendlives: I’m torn too, honestly. And you too!

  9. alegendlives says:
    (link)

    Bryce brown or DMC?

  10. NattyLite says:
    (link)

How much difference is there between Hightower, Latavius Murray, and Denard Robinson? I can only play two. I want Latavius Murray to do well, but Green Bay’s defense against the run has been so unpredictable and Murray’s been sort of slumping. Is Denard the better option here?

I should note that Martin is my RB1 and already decided.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@NattyLite: It’s a triple coinflip. Or I guess rock-paper-scissors. Honestly, I think you’re fine with either three. My personal choice would probably be Hightower and Murray.

  11. Yahoo! is telling me that Fozzy Whittaker is likely going to start for Carolina this weekend. Does that change his spot in the rankings at all?

Who do you like better as a Flex play: Fozzy or Gore?

    Thanks! Happy Holidays!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@The discarded head of ted williams: Yahoo! tells everyone a lot of things. He might start, but I think he’s best in PPR formats, and that’s the only place I would probably start him.

      And you too!

  12. The Big Yabu says:
    (link)

It looks like your ranking of Amendola is taking into account the uncertainty about Edelman. When we know for sure Sunday morning whether Edelman will play, how much would that bump Amendola up or down?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@The Big Yabu: Yeah, it’s a juggling act there, and I haven’t decided what to do with it yet. I think Amendola will produce no matter what, but I’d like to take a wait and see on Edelman’s reports the next few days. I’m sure Lance will have some news for us later today on his injury report.

  13. onemoretime says:
    (link)

I’m having such a hard time picking 2 from these 3: Sammy, alshon, tim hightower.

its projected to be a dead even tie. guy has me crushed at defense, qb, wr and TE this week (kc, cam, odell, gronk) so not sure if I want to reach for upside or stay with a higher floor. this is my preliminary lineup

    bortles
    freeman
    miller
    Antonio
    alshon? Sammy?
    flex?
    Julius

flex–> Bryce brown, crowell, hightower, sammy

    • onemoretime says:
      (link)

@onemoretime: I feel like my guys have the ‘upside’ factor against him where he has a higher floor option with the likes of cam, gronk, odell… those guys can go off as well. not looking good.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@onemoretime: I think Hightower and Jeffery, but I have Watkins. He’s a risk/reward guy right now.

  14. Eric Rubinstein says:
    (link)

Good god tough choice in PPR:

    2 RB slots
    1 WR/RB slot

    Pick the three:

    Doug Martin
    Denard Robinson
    Chris Ivory
    Randall Cobb
    Charcandrick West

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Eric Rubinstein: Eeeeeeeeeeeesh. That is tough. I might go Martin and Robinson, with Ivory here.

  15. Jack says:
    (link)

    1. Barnidge (@ Seattle) or Gates (vs. Dolphins)
    2. Walker (@ Patriots) or Reed (vs. Bills)
    Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jack: I’d go Barnidge and Reed there. Any time!

  16. Kevin says:
    (link)

    12-team Standard scoring.

Help me choose 2 WR/RB/TE Flex Options to start:

    * Amari Cooper vs GB
    * Latavius Murray vs GB
    * Tim Hightower vs Det
    * John Brown WR vs Phi
    * Matt Forte vs Min
    * Charcandrick West @ Bal
    * Frank Gore vs Hou

I’m leaning towards Hightower vs Det due to the increased workload and John Brown vs Phi for the weak Eagles secondary pass defense. Charcandrick west @ Bal looks good too. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Kevin: I would have gone Murray and Hightower, but I think Brown is close enough.

  17. Jack says:
    (link)

McCarron over Eli (vs. Panthers) too much?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jack: It’s risky, but I could see it. I’m probably still sticking with Eli for now though.

  18. Eric says:
    (link)

    Hey Jay,

Just curious: why so low on Lockett? He’s been doing great lately, has been getting a great number of targets/receptions, and Seattle should be passing as much as ever – facing the Browns, and not having a rushing game. I know they’re ranked higher above, but would you consider benching Aiken or Martavis Bryant – does your opinion change with Russell Wilson on my team as well?

    PPR league.

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Eric: I think owning Wilson is a good reason to go with him. You have the impact have double dipping, which could mean a lot.

      • Eric says:
        (link)

@Jay: ok, in that case would you rather bench Aiken or Martavis?

        Thanks

  19. Joe says:
    (link)

Does your ranking of the Texans reflect Luck being ruled out for this week? My options are the Texans and the Pats this week and I’m just a little scared of Mariotta whereas no one has ever been scared of Charlie Whitehurst. Also did JJ Watt break his hand masterbating? Asking for a friend.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Joe: Waaaaaait, why would you think I would know that? Haha. That’s between J and the other J. Sorta… the Colts haven’t looked terrible, so I’m hedging at the moment. Could lower as we get closer to Sunday.

  20. Blake says:
    (link)

In my PPR league playoffs, I have Derek Carr as my QB, you have him ranked a bit low so I wondering if I should pickup the below and play instead?

    J Winston
    A Smith
    Mariotta
    Ryan
    Cutler
    Bradford

Really don’t trust any of those names except for maybe cutler? is Green bay that good of a defense that Carr is going against? and aren’t they at home?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Blake: I don’t really trust Cutler either. Smith is pretty close to Carr, but at the end of the day, I think they do similar things.

      • Teddy Heater says:
        (link)

@Jay: I’m flopping between Ben and Carr and now I feel like starting Yates against Indy. Sunday Morning I stupidly dropped Fitz for Hoyer because I loved the match up for this week and then Hoyer goes down. Ben was so good against that Sea D and he’s struggled with Cincy both times this year. Can Den cover all of Ben’s weapons?

  21. Mike says:
    (link)

My delimma is WR. I have Julio, Maclin, TY, and Tyler Lockett. I can start 2 at WR and perhaps 1 at flex, but Im blessed to have Jordan Reed and Greg Olsen at TE, so Ive been flexing one. Im thinking of going with Julio, Maclin, and Reed. I hate sitting Olsen, but Ive got a few days to decide.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mike: Yeah, I’m with you there, I think that’s an okay set up… can’t really go wrong at the TE position. Take a wait and see.

  22. Scott says:
    (link)

If Spencer Ware is out, how far does West go up? Over Chris Ivory, for instance? This is standard scoring.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Scott: I’ll probably move him up a little, but probably around the Lacy area. Which sounds sexy.

  23. ryanoger says:
    (link)

    .5 ppr league

    Olsen or Gates?

I’m worried of Olsen being pulled early in this game if they go up…

    best,
    Ryan

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@ryanoger: Going Olsen, but there’s a risk of that. Point blank though, I’m still probably taking that risk.

  24. Fantasy girl xoxo says:
    (link)

    Hi jay….

I am in need of my weekly advice…
    PPR league
    2/2/1
    Running backs are
    Bolden
    Woodhead
    Robinson
    Hill
    Sproles
    Wide receivers are
    Marshall
    Lockett
    James jones

What should I do?? Big week ahead… Thanks so much for the help!!!!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Fantasy girl xoxo: I’m feeling Bolden, Robinson along with Marshall and Lockett, with Hill at the flex. I think it’s a good mix. Good luck!

  25. Crapshoot Kershaw says:
    (link)

my guess is inman (practicing two days in a row) is higher than where you currently have s.johnson (not looking likely to play), if in fact i’m right about those two things?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Crapshoot Kershaw: Yeah, correct. I’ll probably have that updated soon.

  26. Cole says:
    (link)

If Julian Edelman is active for the noon game would you consider benching Amendola for j. Matthews or anquan?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Cole: Not really. At this point, it’s sounding like a decoy thing at the moment, but it’s always hard to peg down what the Patriots are doing. I’d rather not take the risk unless we get some better reports today or tomorrow.

  27. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

20 team PPR off this week (bye, 6 make playoffs). have all of d.will/sims/j.white/turbin/artis-payne. drop turbin or artis payne for fozzy? could shore up the CAR game, or keep waiting for inevitable longer DMC injury.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: I’m fine with that, sure. Good PPR depth in Fozzy at the moment. I think Payne is the drop.

  28. needhelp says:
    (link)

    Last second!!!!

Pittsburg d at home vs Brock osweiler or

Tampa tonight on the road vs stl?!

Matchups seems like it will be close. I might be a small underdog

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@needhelp: I missed this one, but I would have gone Tampa.

  29. Christine Michael: one Unlucky Whitehead (just pop him or not) says:
    (link)

with this r.matthews might be playing news i’m guessing i should regrab m.jones i just dropped? PPR. start 3 WR, already have mike floyd/evans/a.brown as starters, bench guys are currently s.johnson and parker.

    2. another idea is to grab inman (over s.johnson), but of course if s.johnson comes back say next week he might jump right back into being my 3rd or 4th guy again.

  30. Christine Michael: one Unlucky Whitehead (just pop him or not) says:
    (link)

oh, and you didn’t rank gabriel (back in the fold, as the number three receiver (maybe 4 behind duke) with hartline out for ROS). this is clearly only for deep leaguers here, but i did just grab gabriel dropping hartline in one.

  31. Christine Michael: one Unlucky Whitehead (just pop him or not) says:
    (link)

here’s one. if i keep 6 in 1/5th PPR per year, start 3 RB, 3 WR, 2 flexes. options julio/a-rob/ingram/mccoy/jordy/allen do i stick with ingram or grab the recently dropped rawls? hurns/olsen also keeper options.

  32. Mobin Can't Hack It says:
    (link)

finally seeing a complete evans game, it’s almost never his fault when his ridiculous number of targets aren’t caught. the throws are often completely off. i think only one of his missed targets so far (late 3rd QT at this pt) actually touched his hands. most way over his head or just not near him at all.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mobin Can’t Hack It: Yeah, with Winston, it’s hard to deal with sometimes, but Evans had a great game.

      • Mobin Can't Hack It says:
        (link)

@Jay: 1st half was just gross, but yeah, eventually the 17 targets paid off big time.

  33. Money Mike says:
    (link)

Hey Jay…. PPR league need 2 WR: Cobb, Watkins, Hilton, Snead
also need a Flex: Bolden, D. Walker, (any of the above WR?)
    Thanks and great work!

    • Money Mike says:
      (link)

@Money Mike: I also have Edelman to make things interesting, what should I do?

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Money Mike: Too risky for me right now.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Money Mike: I’m goin Cobb and Watkins with Hilton. Thanks, and good luck!

      • Money Mike says:
        (link)

@Jay: Hilton even if Hasselbeck is out?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Money Mike: Bolden is right there, but I’m still wishy washy here. I’ll be settled come tomorrow night for sure.

  34. Steve says:
    (link)

WR3 problems 0.5ppr semifinals: I have Devante Parker, picked up Inman, still on waivers: Nate Washington, Gacon, Diggs, Kearse, and Wheaton – Who should I start or pickup and start?

Would you start Brandon Bolden over Charcandrick West or Tim Hightower?

    Gates or Reed

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Steve: I wouldn’t, and I might go Reed there.

  35. Blake says:
    (link)

Why so high on devonta? I have him and he basically lost a game for me last week I have him in another league (ppr) and was wondering what to do. I can start 2 RB’s no flex

    RB: D Williams
    RB: L Miller
    B: D Freeman
    B: Langford
    B: D Woodhead
    B: D Johnson
    B:B brown

I am leaning towards miller but I was wondering why u like him No 1 overall in PPR this week if he really hasn’t done much in last 3 weeks. I guess he can catch a ton of passes?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Blake: Yeah, he’s definitely faded, but I do like the match-up for him. And I think you want to start any running back that goes against the Chargers.

  36. Roll of SAGNOF, Hear my Cry says:
    (link)

Jay, wassup, how’d the season turn out for you?

I’m wondering if there’s a term for when you start the QB to your opponent’s WR in an attempt to cash in on any of that WR’s success.

Don’t worry about whether this is a good strategy or not, but do we have a term for that?

    Cheers and good luck

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Roll of SAGNOF, Hear my Cry: Well, Chargers are tempting me with alcohol poisoning…

Reverse Fantaology? No idea. That actually sounds more like an acrobatic move with soda.

      We should make a term…

  37. JHawk says:
    (link)

    Sup Jay!
I feel like the I’m coaching the Browns. Setting this week’s lineup is like trying to pick up a turd by the clean end and I’ve got paralysis by analysis. PPR league w/ bonuses for 100 yds rec & rush. Plus 40+ yd runs catches & TDs
WR – Odell, Lafell, Malcolm Floyd
    RB – Lacy, Latavius
    TE – Reed
    Flex- Hightower
Bench- Diggs, Edelman, Yeldon, Dez, Eifert , Forte
If Edelman is a go, I’ll sub him for Lafell. Not sure I like the stack on pats not named Gronk. I’d also be tempted to roll with Eifert as flex, but he’s looking out this week.
Any suggested changes, or does this look like the steaming pail of butt nuggets to roll out?
    Thanks buddy!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@JHawk: Never go full Browns man.

I would go with what you got man, we’re thinking a like here.

      Good luck!

  38. stumanji says:
    (link)

    Start 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 FLEX (.75 PPR)

    RBs:
    Forte
    Latavius
    Hightower
    Hillman

    WRs:
    Cobb
    Cooks
    Watkins
    Crabtree

Curious to see if you agree with who I’m planning to start at the moment. Thanks, Jay.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@stumanji: I’m personally going Forte, LM, Cooks, Watkins, and Cobb.

      • stumanji says:
        (link)

@Jay: Is it crazy to start Hightower and sit Murray?

  39. Michael says:

Jay you are the best in the industry!!!!!!!

OMG Jay PPR flex giving me head tumors!!!

PPR Flex….Riddick, Buck Allen, Cooper or Bolden

    Keep J Hill at Flex 1 ?????

    QB -Brady
    RB- Char West
    WR- Fitz
    WR- Landry

      @Michael: !!!!!!!!!!!

Haha thanks. Going Allen there. And then sure, Hill at the flex is fine, but Cooper is close.

So in our league.. 6pts for TD passes.. -3 for ints.. -6 for pick 6.. and usual scoring for yardage..
Do I go Alex Smith or Carr at QB??

Rest of my skills starters in this PPR… (+6 for TDs)
    RB: Freeman and Peterson
WR: AJ Green and Allen Robinson
    TE: Reed
    FLEX: Watkins over Draughns (right?)

@Wide Right: I think Smith is probably the safest play there.

Jay, see you have Hightower ahead of West in PPR, is that even with Ware out?

    Also, Hightower, West, and Sammy

    Pick 2 PPR

@Kendrick Llama: Double check the rankings, I just updated them this morning because of last night’s reports. I think I have Hightower higher still, but West got bumped up.

Need a little help, originally playing A brown and j brown but opponent has switched from Big Ben to Carr would you advise playing cooper instead of J Brown? Thanks for all the advice this year.

@Wendy: Yeah, I think I’m fine with that move. And of course, hope everything has helped!

Jay, I know what your ranks say, but i have to choose between Dez, M.Jones, and Wheaton as a flex play. I’m playing a better team and really need ceiling here. Dez has been so bad that I feel like I’d be praying for 10 points (ppr). Jones I feel might not get looks with different QB and a probable dominate Cinny running game. Wheaton my thinking was may get targets with the Den D holding down the other guys, similar to the Seattle game. Plus, I do et 1 pt per 25 return yards. Thoughts on who I should start as a big underdog in this game?

@THADIUS: Tough one, and I get your reasoning, but I think here that Jones might have the most homerun potential if anything. Dez is obviously the best pick in my opinion, though, and I’d probably stick with him, despite the Cowboys situation being such a mess.

In a half point ppr :

Gore, bolden, or Matt jones ?
    New England or Denver ?
*id have to drop Denver to play New England .
I need a spot for a kicker , so I have to drop one of the defenses.

@Tom oop: Leaning Bolden. And still sticking Denver there.

Wusup Jay… I’m having trouble deciding on starting Brandon Bolden or Marvin Jones at flex. Eifert is out so your ranking could’ve changed since then. What would you do if it were your team?? PPR.. Thanks and hope you have a Happy Holiday!!

@Frank White: You too man! Going Bolden there, but both are scary.

2 of these 3. 1/2 PPR. The rest of my team is good but my receivers SUCK. Bryant, Aiken, Benjamin?

    Thank you in advance!!!!!!!!

      @Oatmeal: That’s Dez Bryant

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Oatmeal: I’d go Bryant still, but darn, Benjamin and Aiken are kinda close. Be sure to double check my rankings tomorrow morning, but I think I’ll still have it at Dez.

whats the chance that Olsen sits for most of the game? I have Antonio Gates as my fall back option in my PPR league. I have a flex position that I have tim hightower in – should I replace him with Gates? start olsen and gates or run with olsen and hightower?
