Jay, If I win this week it’s going to make things a lot nicer for Christmas. I’m having trouble deciding between A. Morris and H. Douglass in the flex position. It’s a PPR format and I see you have Morris ranked higher, however my opponent has M. Ryan at QB which means anything Douglass gets Ryan gets also. It works both ways where they offset each other some. 4pts for a QB TD and 20 yds, 6 pts.TD and 10 yds for a WR. Also it looks like you think J.Jones is going to play hindering Douglass although the game should be a shootout. Your thoughts on this please. Thanks and Happy Holidays.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nimrod: In that case, Douglas isn’t the worst idea, certainly, but I think Morris is the safer bet there.

Julio Jones’ status sure isn’t making these things easier…

      • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
        (link)

@Jay: douglas now out for the game as well.

  2. Nimrod says:
    (link)

What about D. Walker tonite with his Q lable. I have J. Reed. Play Walker or Reed. PPR

  3. TJ says:
    (link)

Championship matchup. I almost lost last week because I started Fred Jackson over Jeremy Hill. A narrow margin of 2 points for the victory saved me.
I see F-Jax and Tre Mason both ranked higher, but I don’t know if I have the stones to start either one of them over Jeremy Hill this week…

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@TJ: I hear ya. The more I think about it, I might move Jackson down a bit, but I like Mason there.

  4. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

Wow, really having issues here with who to play this week. With Hilton, Julio, and now LaFell all nursing injuries, I’m not sure who I should play. One of those issues is that a WR sub for me is Jordan Matthews and he plays on Saturday. So if I play him, I have to bench an injured guy who may play on Sunday. What are your moves:

    QB – Brady
    WR – Julio
    WR- Hilton
    WR – Benjamin
    RB – Forte
    RB – CJ Anderson
    TE – Graham
    W/R – LaFell
    Q/W/R/T – Ryan
    BN – L.Murray
    BN – L.Miller
    BN – FJax
    BN – Stills
    BN – J.Matthews
    BN – Olsen

    0.5 PPR – 3 point bonus at 85 yards rec/100 yards rush – 6 point bonus at 135 yards rec/150 yards rush

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Wilsonian: Stills is probably there for me too, but Matthews there is fine.

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

@Jay: so you would bench one of them for Matthews or wait and play Stills if one of them is out?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Wilsonian: I think waiting and playing Stills could be the best option.

  5. Scott says:
    (link)

So you’re thinking Bennett will be a great safety net for Mr. Clausen?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Scott: Yeah, I think both him and Forte gain value from that goofy qb strategy.

  6. Scott says:
    (link)

Why is Detroit D trending down? Because of limited film on QB?

    • Scott says:
      (link)

@Scott: You won’t believe it, but the Rams, Ravens, and Patriots Ds are all available on my waiver wire.

      • Steve Stevenson says:
        (link)

        • Steve Stevenson says:
          (link)

@Steve Stevenson: Oops. What I meant to say is, Wow. I’d love to play DET against Clausen and the Bears train wreck, and the only reason I’m not is the league where I have them I also own SEA. All those options are good. I’d probably make it a coin flip between BAL and DET.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Scott: They’ll be trending up soon. That’s for sure.

  7. STL says:
    (link)

Would you still go with Alshon Jeffery over Josh Gordon after the Cutler news?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@STL: Pretty much the same thing Gordon is dealing with at the moment. But I’m fine with it. I like Manziel way more than Clausen.

  8. Zandy says:
    (link)

in the ship this week in one league where ive been riding Cutler – ouch
so now i need a QB for the finals
6 pt TDs, who you got?
RG3, Dalton, ASmith, Cam, Orton, Clausen (jk)

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Zandy: I’m probably going Cam Newton. And I’m nervous, that’s for sure.

  9. Steve Stevenson says:
    (link)

Standard scoring, 5pt bonus at 100yds rushing or receiving. I’m deciding between J. Bell and Ingram at RB2 and, like you, have them close. Was leaning Bell but am wondering if the bonus pushes it in favor of Ingram, since he has a better shot of clearing 100 rush yds, even if Bell may ultimately have more scrimmage yds. FWIW, I’d call my team a moderate favorite this week (-15 or so), so I have a slight bias toward higher floor (part of why I have Bell tentatively plugged in–you sort of never know when Ingram’s going to drop a 3-pt clunker).

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Steve Stevenson: Right, in that case, I’m playing it safe and going with Bell.

  10. Teddy Heater says:
    (link)

So I find myself in the “Ship” in 2 different leagues. I’m in a bit of a quandary though, I have Brees & Graham rostered with Brady on the bench & in the other league I’m playing Brees & Graham. Should I bench Brees and hope Brady brings it home in both leagues or take the split ? I’m leaning towards benching Brees hoping he blows it against Atl (HAHA!) All Comments welcome.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Teddy Heater: I’d just put the best players out there and trust in the decision. Plus, the Falcons defense is pretty trashy.

  11. mguy31 says:
    (link)

Would I be crazy to start Toby Gerhart over LeSean McCoy?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@mguy31: I would not do that.

  12. dem ribbies says:
    (link)

Do you like DET DST vs CHI more or less now that Cutler is being benched? trying to decide between STL vs ODB’s Giants or DET vs the inept Bears with a backup QB at the helm.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@dem ribbies: More, I’ll probably be moving them up next update.

  13. Clint says:
    (link)

With big “ifs” facing Hilton & Julio, I’m staring at having to insert a QB into my QB/RB/WR/TE flex spot for this week and my options are RG3 or Wilson. Do I go with the easier matchup but bigger gamble in RG3 or the likely low, but solid, points Wilson should provide? That is, unless you think Lamar Miller or Alfred Morris would be better suited in that flex spot over a QB altogether.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Clint: I’d go with Wilson. RG3 looks lost, even last week at times.

  14. Randy says:
    (link)

How come you have Luck above Rodgers this week? The Hilton hamstring injury is concerning especially since they won their division last week. Rodgers just seems like the #1 QB this week hands down to me

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Randy: Yeah, I’m going to reexamining that. To be honest, I might be penalizing to harshly from last week’s game.

  15. Don says:
    (link)

If Cam Newton is healthy enough to start, would you rank him over Wilson or is there too much injury risk there? I just dont like Wilsons matchup @Arizona too much. Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Don: I’d still probably go Wilson if I’m trying to play it safe.

      • don says:
        (link)

@Jay: The Team that iam facing in the final is stacked so i know my team has to put up alot of points to win. Do you feel that cam has more upside this week?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@don: He might, but I’m not sure it’s worth the risk. Arizona has a tough defense, but the Browns aren’t bad either.

  16. Tom says:
    (link)

If Murray is out how much of a boost would that give Randle? If Murray is active who would you play non ppr.

    Murray
    Randle
    L. Murray
    Also have Dunbar

Already have Hill as no. 1

Thanks for all your help this season,
    Tom

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Tom: I’d say top-30 boost. Top-25 maybe… but I’d Murray there.

  17. DiRo says:
    (link)

I have to say if Julio can tolays again, I’ll have to start Romo of Ryan again this week.

To my real question. I know Gerhart has a nice matchup this week, but I don’t trust him much. My other options are Fleener(meh) and J Gray(Blount has a shoulder injury so Gray could get a few goal line looks) I am torn on who to start regardless of rankings.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@DiRo: Yeah, I hate to say it as well, but you have to go Gerhart there.

  18. ryanoger says:
    (link)

    Jay,

Thanks for all the advice! You’ve propelled me into the championship game.

    .5 PPR league

    Starters for this week:
    QB-A Rodgers
    WR-Jordy
    WR-Mike Evans
    RB-Tre Mason
    RB-DeMarco (***if he goes***)
    TE-???
    FLEX WR/RB/TE-???
    K-Gostkowski
    DEF-???

    BENCH
Jordan Matthews, Martavius Bryant, Latavius Murray, Harry Douglas

    OUT
    Keenan

    1. I’m I going with Antonio Gates or Kelce?
    2. Bills @ OAK OR NE @ JETS?
    3. Who am I flexin’ or how would you rank the bench players from above if DeMarco isn’t playing and I have to slot him in my RB position?
    4. What’s your take on Keenan as a keeper this year I can keep as many as 7?

    Thanks so much man!

    best,
    Ryan

    • ryanoger says:
      (link)

      @ryanoger:

      3. *Rank bench players if I have to slot Latavius in my 2nd RB spot if DeMarco doesn’t play*

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@ryanoger: Glad to hear! 1. I’d go Gates. Prime time, must win, Rivers will be targeting him early and often. 2. Patriots. 3. Probably Murray. 4. I’d keep him.

  19. kevin says:
    (link)

dunbar, gerhart, or vereen Flex PPR

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @kevin: Gerhart.

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@Jay: hard to believe all these teams are in the finals that need to use gerhart this week. i’m playing against one of them (of course that team is a 40ish pt dog)

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@goodfold2: Yeah, I find it kinda weird. Could be the mass onslaught of injuries and the favorable matchup. I think he scored, what, 12 points? That’s not bad considering what he’s been doing.

  20. Crazy old guy babbling in the corner says:
    (link)

What’s the logic of Latavius Murray over Asiata? Murray gets a tough bills defense, Oakland sucks, and he was mediocre last week. Asiata was solid vs Detroit and Miami should be easier?

Same question why Josh Gordon over stills–Josh Gordon has been underperforming since return, and Manziel sucks… Stills gets Atlanta, shouldn’t that say it all? :)

  21. JimmyZ says:
    (link)

Thanks for the help all season. Another one of the Demarco Murray owners wondering what to do. Have the following RBs:

    D. Murray
    Herron
    L. Murray
    Asiata

For two RB slots and one flex. If DeMarco plays, which 3 would you suggest?

And then, for a monkey wrench, is J. Landry a better flex option than the 3rd RB on that list?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@JimmyZ: No problem! I’d probably go Murray and Asiata. And yeah, I don’t mind going Landry over Herron.

  22. goodfold2 says:
    (link)

ok, so reed is still ahead of clay/daniels/rudolph, even with RG free playing.

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: in that same league in the finals i have 4 top 13 RB’s, and grabbed a.will and randle over the last 3 weeks to make sure my opp’s can’t. my opp now has gerhart/hyde/sproles/k.will/roughshod. i’m assuming he plays k.will.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: Yeah, still. Thinking about it, RG3 should still be able to move the ball somewhat against the Eagles.

      • goodfold2 says:
        (link)

@Jay: i agree, but Reed has yet to have a decent game with RG3 all year. he’s had 2 good games, 3 mediocre games, and the rest awful (4 or under pts, and there are 4 awful ones, although the first awful one i think he left early in)

  23. goodfold2 says:
    (link)

oh that’s funny, i told everybody i know that todman should be starting here, not gerhart. HAHA.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: Gotta lock that stuff down!

  24. 18tm Undefeated says:
    (link)

Provided certain players don’t play do I flex J Hill, Edelman, or Harry Douglas? Been a wild ride and look forward to off season rankings. One love.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@18tm Undefeated: Good to hear! And I’d probably go Hill there.

  25. Blake says:
    (link)

Cam Newton, RG3 or M Sanchez in my 10 team standard pts league?

    I had J Cutler

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Blake: Newton.

  26. Nick says:
    (link)

In championship game and strongly considering starting F. Jackson and L. Miller over McCoy. Is this insane? When I remove their names from the equation, they seem like better starts.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nick: Tough to sit McCoy. But according to my rankings, they are all a coin flip, so I’m fine with it.

  27. Bye Felicia says:
    (link)

    My team
    Murray
    Shady
    Lacy
    J. Bell
    AJ Green
    Antonio Brown
    K Benjamin
    J. Gordon
    Greg Olson
    Stafford/Romo
    Gostkowsi
    Texans D/ST/Ravens
    I finished 9-4
Yes, I’m in the championship but I been seeing a lot of questions about T Gerhart. How did you make the finals when I barely made the playoffs with these types of players when I almost missed making them in my league?
So my question- Would you just bench Murray then play
    Rb Bell
    Rb Lacy
    WR Brown
    WR Green
    TE Olson
    Flex Shady
D/ST Ravens this week Texans vs Jags next
    K Goskowski
Sounds good. I don’t want to risk murray playing 10 snaps, getting 5 pts, then leaving the game cuz he’s hurt when J Bell has a great matchup vs Shitcago. Thoughts?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Bye Felicia: I’d wait at least one more day to see if there’s any change. They are set to have him start now, but let’s see what the beat reporters have to say before the game. These guys usually have the most reliable info.

  28. TheForbes427 says:
    (link)

Sup Jay, thanks for the great stuff all season.

2QB league, I’m obviously starting Aaron Rogers. Who do you roll with between Eli Manning, Case Keenum, Shaun Hill. Against any other defense I’d roll Eli, but the Rams are feeling it and I think they’ll be getting after Eli all day.

Which D would you go with between Panthers and Dolphins. I know Panthers have Manziel, but I think the mismatch between the Dolphins at home vs the Vikings road offense gives the Fins the edge. Thoughts?

Start 3: Demarco Murray, Joseph Randle, Marquess Wilson, Harry Douglass, Pierre Thomas (I HATE the Espn projected rankings, totally messes with my head).

Thanks again, much respect, see you in Baseball season bruh.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@TheForbes427: Thanks for joining us thus far!

I’d go Eli, just so hard to trust the other two guys over him. And yeah, I’m fine with that logic on the Dolphins.

  29. Brian says:
    (link)

I need to pick 3 of 4, figured I am better off asking because if I decided on my own I will for sure get it wrong:

    A. Gates
    G. Olsen
    L Murray (oak)
    D Herron

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brian: I’d go Gates, Murray, and Herron.

  30. dem ribbies says:
    (link)

In the money game and am torn btwn 2 options. I’m probably over coaching which always leads to trouble this time of year. That said….

Assuming TY doesn’t suit up would you start Moncrief over Kelvin? Rumor has it that Wayne will be on a snap count. Have to figure that the Colts have little to play for unless NE loses the early game, so Montcrief will get a lot of looks and the Dallas DST isn’t exactly going to give Luck trouble.

Just worried that Cam playing hurt vs a pretty good DST is going to really limit KB.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@dem ribbies: I like Moncrief this Sunday, but I like Benjamin a little more. From what I’ve read, Cam has responded well.

  31. Biff Malibu says:
    (link)

PPR flex ?, with the benching of cutler I agree alshon Jeffery drops… maybe even farther than u have him. Megatron and a. Brown @ WR so do I start one of my trio of RB’s in my flex? M. Ingram, t. Mason & l. Miller could all out produce Jeffery this week as the bears have seemingly given up

      • Biff Malibu says:
        (link)

@Jay: then would who would be best toss up for flex play. Can alshon Jeffery out score Lamar miller or I do stick with the WR 1 over a RB 2??

  32. Zandy says:
    (link)

    6pt TDs
    Dalton RG3 or Cam
He has AJ Green which is making me lean to Dalton….

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Zandy: I’d actually go Cam. I’d feel pretty icky starting the other two guys.

  33. Crazy old guy babbling in the corner says:
    (link)

Hey Jay, if Hilton sits this weekend, what’s that due for Moncrief in your rankings? Would you bump him over Josh Gordon/Kenny Stills level? Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Crazy old guy babbling in the corner: He’s moving up, that’s for sure. I’m not certain where he’ll land yet, but I’d have to think he’s around that level, probably a tad less.
