Week 1 Results: 61.8% (22nd out of 134 Experts, 66.1% Highest, 48.2% Lowest).

It’s now time for Week 2 Rankings folks! Why? Because the world needs rankings. Nay, the world demands it. To be really honest, what’s the point of writing about fantasy football if not to start arguments over subjective numerical values? If you answered “there is no point!” (exclamation point inflection required), well then, you win this cookie. This cookie right here. Oh, you don’t see the cookie? That’s probably because I just ate it. So you get no cookie. Just the teasing of said cookie.

Great, now I’m hungry for more cookies. Thanks!

As an aside, I’ve heard some requests for a ‘Rest of Season’ rankings made available for the masses. Well, I haven’t heard them per say… I’ve read the requests, seeing as how you people don’t whisper in my ear. I mean, maybe you do, but I’m just trying to ignore you because that’s creepy, dude. Regardless, I will be releasing ROS projections at every quarter mark of the season, or basically every month, or every four weeks… basically every 30 or so days. Or 730 hours. 43829 minutes. 2.63e+6 seconds… woah, what the heck is that I just wrote? That looks like some kind of alien language. But, you get my point. So, yeah, be excited for that!

Note: These rankings are for this week’s slate of games only. These rankings are not cumulative, nor are they an indicator of any future value. They are based solely on this week’s performance in regards to fantasy football production.

Rivers really that low this week? I guess a Seattle matchup is tuff. Should I be starting cam this week in his place?
With that being said, should I be trading for a better QB? I went with rivers fa the consistency and cam fa the hope he returns to supaman.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Todd: I would start Cam there, yeah. You’re okay there. It was going to be a touch two-game opening.

  2. SMLV1 says:
    (link)

Why so low on Torrey Smith? He always torches PIT.

Gonna be tough to decide between Cruz, Wright and Wayne as my WR3 this week. But I’m kinda leaning towards Wright as ur ranking suggests.

    • E says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: he has 18 catches and 2 TDs in 6 career games vs pit. Really lights em up.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: I’m always low on Torrey Smith. That way, I’m only wrong three times a year.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: Just want to add that I like all three of those names.

  3. SMLV1 says:
    (link)

Its also really tough for me to start Stacy over Moreno. Should I give Stacy another week to show what hes got?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@SMLV1: I would. Let’s see what happens. (I could be stubborn about this too.)

  4. Joe says:
    (link)

Jay i would start Antonio Brown and Julián edelman but in the other two spots Iam not sure i have marques colston, markus wheaton, danny amandola, terrence west…..which two should o start for this week?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Joe: I like Colston and Williams this week out of that group.

  5. goodfold2 says:
    (link)

in dynasty Taliaferro or McCluster? 20 teamer with huge benches, half PPR with .5 pts per attempted run also. if yes i can stash Sims while i’m doing so. 5 IR slots.

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: Same league, Donnell or ASJ? i also own Reed. If ASJ has better future value i’m sticking and i don’t care if neither him nor Reed play this week. i’m thinking ASJ by a lot here, simply due to i never even heard of Donnell till like 3 days ago.

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@goodfold2: Yeah, I like ASJ long term. Could be special.

  6. Nimrod says:
    (link)

Really great read, thanks. Who to start in a 1pt PPR league, T. Williams or R. Matthews in my flex position?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Nimrod: Mathews.

    • Pope says:
      (link)

@Nimrod: Did you check the flex rankings? Mathews is ranked 50 while West is ranked 86…

      • Nimrod says:
        (link)

@Pope: Terrance Williams is a WR for Dallas while Mattews is a RB for SD. It’s a close call. Thanks tho.

        • Pope says:
          (link)

@Nimrod: Oh my bad, read it wrong

  7. Steve says:
    (link)

Would u drop Ingram for Hyde or Crowell ???

    • Xavier says:
      (link)

@Steve: In PPR? Personally, no. Standard, probably.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Steve: For Hyde.

  8. Hmm, I know you have a homer boner for Ryan Mathews, but that high in the ranks for PPR at home against SEA? I have Terrence West in a 10 team and was thinking he’d match up better mostly because he isn’t playing SEA though TDs will likely suffer, but what are your thoughts on that change in ranks?

Are you thinking West hits the “true” Nawlins defense and stalls while Mathews grabs a few ohmaigerd SEA defense dump passes from Rivers me Timbers, on top of other people not seeing what you see in him? (Which, after a 14 point week 1 against the Cards, makes it look like you’re right).

Really at this point I see them as a toss up with Mathews being more likely to break total points, but West having the upside of a chance at some TDs if he can break loose.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@West and Welaxation: To be completely honest, this is the first year I’m using FantasyPro’s UI, and I sometimes question their sync function. They basically take my standard rankings, do some futuristic things, and then pump out a PPR rankings based off that. I’d rather not rank 700 players when already ranking 350, but I’m keeping an eye on it. While I probably would have put Mathews in the 20ish range on PPR, the way it’s set up, I’m sorta okay.

I like West this week, but I’m viewing Mathews as a RB2 this week. Chargers have a way of gritting out wins against big defensive teams, and it starts with the ground game.

      • @Jay: Ah that’s crazy, I wonder who the wizard is behind the curtain of FantasyPros…

And I like your logic on Mathews, and is definitely a thought of mine for that game for them to grind it and bleed the clock when they can against the Saints and keep the offense off the field. Plus with his workload in week 1, it does point to good signs.

Problem for me is I have Vereen as my RB1 along with Mathews, and my pick up of West throws a monkey wrench into the Mathews/West idea since they’re almost a push. I probably shouldn’t worry since the universe will just make sure the player I don’t put in does better. And Flex consideration for either is out with Michael Floyd/Reggie Wayne vying for game time (I may trade one of them with a RB to upgrade, or sit on them and watch as I laugh playing the matchup game for super points).

Thanks for he insight, here’s hoping!

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@West and Welaxation: Totally. And if it’s any consolation, the accuracy reports just came out, and I beat Matthew Berry… so there’s that.

          • Cram It says:
            (link)

@Jay: Ooooh accuracy reports? How can I google/see those? Or are they only handed out internally from the fantasy website overlords?

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Cram It: I actually just linked to it at the top of the post, full disclosure and all. I think it means that I can be effective, even when spewing everything Chargers… for at least last week that is.

              • Cram It says:
                (link)

                @Jay: That’s pretty goddamn neat

  9. Jason Morgan says:
    (link)

How much of a $100 FAAB would you bid on Gordon in a 12-team PPR league?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jason Morgan: At least 30% or more. The payoff could be season-altering.

      • Jason Morgan says:
        (link)

@Jay: Well here’s my line of thinking. If he was reinstated and was going to play this season before placing my bid, I would bid all $100. You are never going to get a player of his caliber off the wire. But now it comes down to taking a risk as to whether he will actually play this season.

Yesterday Forsett went for $28. That tells me that $30, and probably even $50, is not going to cut the mustard. I am tempted to bid it all, but will feel like a fool if he does not play…

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Jason Morgan: If that’s the context, then yeah, you’ll probably have to. If you don’t, looks like someone else will. Though, what happens if injuries occur and there’s no depth? It’s a pickle.

  10. Xavier says:
    (link)

Got really lucky and landed Gordon off the waiver wire. Don’t particularly want him, what range of player would you target in a trade? Gordon is definitely a top-10 WR when he’s back, so I assume a first/second round+

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Xavier: Yeah, but you’d probably have to wait for definitive news either way, unless someone offers you the moon. Start gauging interest though.

  11. KK says:
    (link)

Was just about to start locker over Brady in my dual QB league, but then saw this… What do you think?

    • KK says:
      (link)

@KK: same thing for Floyd and Kendall wright… Have Floyd in ppr over wright currently

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@KK: I like Floyd, but I think Wright is the better option this week.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@KK: I’m going to try Brady in the top-10 again. I’m of the mindset that week 1 can be weird to a lot of teams.

  12. Clint says:
    (link)

Some fool in my 12 teamer 1.5pt ppr dropped Garcon. Whom would you drop him for from my team?

    QB: Cam, Romo, RG3
    RB: Le’Veon, Foster, Gio, Vereen
WR: Megatron, Cobb, Crabtree, Wright, Torrey

Also, if I’m reading your rankings correctly, you’d advocate starting Foster in my flex spot over Gio (assuming I get Garcon) and Cam over RG3 in my QB Flex spot? You don’t see a rebound coming for RG3 against the Jags?

    • Barker says:
      (link)

@Clint: thats tough crabtree or rgiii
No one else to drop ?

      • Clint says:
        (link)

        @Barker:

Nope. I specifically made the benches light so things could get interesting this year. Other starters are 3 IDP’s and 1 Def/ST of which I am not using any bench spots for right now (grabbed Le’Veon thanks to Jay after dropping the one IDP sub I had). I’ll go with Smith then.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Clint: On RG3, I want to see a good game from him first before I start projecting one. I would drop Smith for Garcon in a heartbeat.

  13. Hometown Hero says:
    (link)

I’m in a 2 QB 12 team league where all TDs count as 6 points. I have Romo, Locker and McNown as my qbs. I got an offer that would give me Kaepernick or R Wilson for Stacy and Mcnown. I have Lacy, Vareen, Freeman and Cunningham at RB.

I know I would be thin at RB but I don’t trust Romos back or Mcnown keeping the job or anything to do with the Rams. Do I pull the trigger?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Hometown Hero: I would hold. I think this deal really hurts your team depth, and you have enough there to compete at QB.

      • Hometown Hero says:
        (link)

@Jay: I also have an offer where I would get Moreno for M Wallace. I have Demaryius, Wright, Patterson and J Gordon already. Would your opinion change if I also got Moreno? Thanks again Jay!

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Hometown Hero: Not if its part of a deal for a QB. Straight up, I think it’s a fair trade.

          • Hometown Hero says:
            (link)

@Jay: Yes the Moreno deal is with another team owner. If I did both deals my team would be Romo, Kaep/Wilson and Locker RB’s Lacy, Vareen, Moreno, Freeman WRs Demaryius, Wright, Patterson

  14. Barker says:
    (link)

    10 team 1/2 ppr qb qb /flex

I give rgiii and garcon for demaryius thomas

My other qbs newton palmer tannehill
Other wr a brown cobb gordon terrance williams

Kid only has one qb ryan and is stacked at wr if he rejects which he probably will — would offering cobb rgiii for demaryius be too much to give?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Barker: Well, you’re dealing from a spot that you don’t need, so it’s fair on both deals. I’d give it a go and see what happens. Remember though, you are trying to sell low on RGIII.

      • Barker says:
        (link)

@Jay: he came back with murray and garcon for d thomas i rejected and offered cobb/rgiii

He wants/needs rbs so i was going to offer rashad jennings and garcon or cobb for demaryius and pierre thomas if he doesnt take cobb/rgiii

My other rbs murray lacy f jax

Is pierre thomas enough for my rb3 slot in a 1/2 ppr

  15. Allan says:
    (link)

Why Rudolph over Ertz? Colts showed week 1 a vulnerability to tight end. Ertz isn’t Julius Thomas but he’s good. Also got Bailey as my kicker but Bryant is available and I’m worried about the Cowboys ability to get Bailey opportunities. They certainly didn’t in week 1.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Allan: I like Bailey this week. And I think going against Peyton Manning and JT is a bit different than Foles/Ertz.

  16. E says:
    (link)

    Yo! Pick 3, ppr league

    Ryan Mathews
    Toby gerhart
    Joique bell
    Knowshon Moreno
    Chris ivory
    Marquis Colston

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @E: Mathews, Moreno, Colston

  17. Hats4Bats says:
    (link)

    H. Miller’s ranking seems a bit high, Jay. You really like him more than T. Smith and Crabtree in PPR?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Hats4Bats: For this week, it looks like it. I don’t think the Ravens are a good team.

  18. sam says:
    (link)

in a 2-QB (flex) league, i have Rodgers, Foles, & Kaep. I was offered Josh Gordon for Kaep. What do I do?

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@sam: that’s some damn good QB for a 2 QB league. unless it’s like a 10 or less teamer (even then pretty good)

      • sam says:
        (link)

        only 10 teams.

        • sam says:
          (link)

@sam: henne and hoyer are available on waivers

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@sam: I’d do it without batting a sweat. You have plenty of QB depth there.

  19. CL says:
    (link)

Clearly, you’d think I’m nuts to start Quick over Cruz, clearly.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@CL: Just as long as you’re cashews.

  20. Brian says:
    (link)

Traded Kyle Rudulph for Reggie Wayne still have Gronk was this a good move ? Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brian: Yes, I like that move.

  21. Jeremy says:
    (link)

Brian quick or Pierre Thomas at the flex? Probably Thomas right? Also what do you think of trading colston for Tate? Spiller is my rb2 right now and I don’t feel great about it

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jeremy: Yeah, goin Thomas there. I don’t like Tate. Target another RB.

  22. Cram It says:
    (link)

Man, I thought Locker had a pretty cherry matchup. Crap on a cracker.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Cram It: I re-watched some of the Dallas game, and their defense actually held up well considering. I will say that I like Locker this week, but I feel strong about the other QB’s ahead of him.

I’m very open to him proving me wrong.

      • Cram It says:
        (link)

@Jay: Right on. Good stuff evaluating that aspect of the game. I can get behind that stance. Thanks. I’d like to see Locker become fantasy relevant week to week. But I’ll go with a banged up Cam until I see more.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Cram It: Trust, I want to be ahead of the game on Locker too. I ranked him in the pre-season above my peers, and I think there’s something there. I just want to see it with some guys first too.

  23. TJ says:
    (link)

Bernard Pierce is on waivers in my PPR league. I am sort of thin at RB, and potentially stacked at WR.
We start 2 WR, 2 RB, and 2 flex spots.

My WRs are Dez Bryant, Brandon Marshall, Vincent Jackson, Torrey Smith and Josh Gordon (hopefully).
My RBs are Leveon Bell, Reggie Bush, Danny Woodhead, Chris Johnson and Jeremy Hill.

Do I drop Torrey or Jeremy Hill or Woodhead for Pierce?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@TJ: No, I think Pierce is trash.

      • TJ says:
        (link)

@Jay: Even with the reports from the Ravens writers this week that they don’t think Forsett can handle the full load, and Pierce will probably lead the team in carries this season?

        • Cram It says:
          (link)

@TJ: I live in Baltimore. Pierce is garbage. Flacco’s throwing the ball 50 times a game so the bulk of the carries might mean 10 a game.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@TJ: He’s just a guy where I don’t mind him showing me something first. If I miss on him, I’m very comfortable with that.

  24. Charles says:
    (link)

Morning Jay and thanks for the rankings. 14 Team non-ppr 6 pts per all TD. 1 pt per 50 pass yards, 1 pt per 20 rush/rec yards. Fractional points count. Should I start F. Jax or Ingram in my flex? I already have AP and J. Bell in my lineup.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Charles: Jackson, but it’s a flip of the coin.

  25. mcBlunty says:
    (link)

RB2/Flex question would you go with lamar miller or Justin forsett, .5ppr, heres the thing though, I am starting pierce currently at my flex spot, I also have Sammy Watkins I could throw in the flex and move pierce to rb2 over miller and forett, thoughts? thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@mcBlunty: I would go Forsett over Pierce to be honest. I might go Watkins over Miller here as well.

  26. Bryce Krispie Treats says:
    (link)

Have you heard anything on Jordan Cameron’s injury? I have him and Dennis Pitta and Pitta plays tonight. Do I play it safe and put DP in my lineup?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Bryce Krispie Treats: Everything is in a holding pattern for now. I know I’ll have to change my rankings on him when news comes out, but for now, I think you should play it safe and put in PItta.

  27. Pewter Gray Clouds says:
    (link)

Whose outlook do you like more on the season, Bishop Sankey or Carlos Hyde? I have hyde and might want to try and trade him for sankey.

  28. Filkarri says:
    (link)

My instincts were telling me to start C Johnson against a weak Green Bay run defense over Mathews going against Seattle. Your rankings suggest otherwise though. Granted the Jets offense is clearly not as good as Seattle’s and Johnson is no Lynch, but a Packers front 7 that lacks BJ Raji looked like a nice matchup to me. Thoughts?

    • Filkarri says:
      (link)

      PPR league by the way.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Filkarri: I think Chargers gameplan against Seattle will be to try and control the clock and run it down their throats. Of course, this was what was supposed to happen in Arizona, but execution was a problem. I still like Mathews here.

  29. vinodole says:
    (link)

Can you tell me if I’m overthinking this one?

Seattle allowed 4 rushing TDs all season last year (along with 101.6 yards/game)
Chicago D allowed 22 TDs (LOL) and 161.4 yards/game (ROFLMAO)

Am I crazy to start Carlos Hyde over Ryan Matthews? I think Hyde has at least a 50% higher chance of scoring a TD and the yards are probably negligible… No?

I’m also tempted to start Hyde over Bush but the argument isn’t as strong considering Bush is hardly a RB in terms of usage and Carolina is crazy good against the run (better than Seattle last year) and less crazy good (although still top-10) against the pass.

Ugh, it’s frustrating that I know that whatever decision I make will most likely be the wrong one – too many choices!! I want to be in a 3 RB 4 WR 2 FLEX league one of these years so I can just start everyone! Hey – why isn’t that a thing? Is that a thing?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@vinodole: You can argue it, and I wouldn’t tell you you’re crazy, and, to be honest, my Ryan Mathews love might end up hurting me, but he’s that one guy I’m going all in this season. Everyone has that guy… so we’ll see what happens. Love Hyde though, I think he’s Gore 2.0.

  30. Mike says:
    (link)

Would u drop justin hunter to pick up Wheaton??
    10 team standard

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mike: I could see you playing match-ups there, sure. I like Hunter a bit more this week though.

  31. Wilsonian says:
    (link)

    Who you flexing this week:

    Hilton
    Wallace
    J.Bell
    Forsett
    Woodhead
    Smith Sr.

    0.5 PPR – 3 point bonus at 85 yards rec/100 yards rush – 6 point bonus at 135 yards rec/150 yards rush

    • Wilsonian says:
      (link)

@Wilsonian: I’m pretty sure it’s Hilton, but figured I’d check anyway. Ya never know…

      • Cram It says:
        (link)

@Wilsonian: Probably the guy he has listed 1st under FLEX RANKINGS. Just a hunch though.

        • Wilsonian says:
          (link)

@Cram It: kinda figured Mr. Cram, but it doesn’t take every league setting into account. So thought I’d toss it out there. I appreciate Jay’s opinion, and Bell is a good option, too, but don’t like the Carolina matchup much.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Wilsonian: Yeah, like Hilton there. Though Bell is a good option too.

  32. Billy bob bob billy says:
    (link)

Just got Michael Floyd for Torrey smith… What ya think about that

    • Cheese Eating Surrender Monkey says:
      (link)

@Billy bob bob billy: good thing you got that done before t.smith looked useless for 2nd str game.

  33. Dave says:
    (link)

Need to pick 2 in a PPR (one must be a WR) out of:
    Keenan Allen
    Golden Tate
    Joique Bell
    Pierre Thomas
    Fred Jackson

Also why so high on Keenan this week against Seattle? I’m pretty scared of the matchup and I’m considering benching him for Tate but I don’t know.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Dave: I’m going out on a limb, for sure. I still like him this week.

Out of that group, I’d go Allen and Thomas… but it’s real close with Tate and Bell.

This may become a weekly struggle for me. Pick two flex spots in 1/2 PPR: Edelman, Moreno, Pierre Thomas, Kelvin Benjamin, or Bowe.

Lots of great matchups. I’m high on Benjamin right now and think he could have another great game. Moreno is poised for lots of carries/catches (might be a morono to not play him). Edelman is also solid for some guaranteed catches, but might have a ceiling with Gronk around. I like Thomas but I worry with Ingram getting goal line touches and having a solid week 1 performance.

  35. Hats4Bats says:

PPR league…Would you trade away Bradshaw to acquire Gordon?
I feel like this is a no brainer, but my team is stacked at WR (Jordy is my WR3) and thin at RB (Joique is my RB1), giving me some pause.

    Also, Ivory or Boykin?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Hats4Bats: I love Bradshaw, but yeah, it’s a no brainer.

Boykin, but you need Ivory for depth I think.

    Good Morning Jay!

Full point PPR league, pick two:

    Rashad Jennings
    Terence Williams
    Anquan Boldin
    Andrew Hawkins
    Dwayne Bowe
    Terence West
    Mark Ingram

    Thanks!

    I am multiple leagues, 2 lineup q’s

    1) PPR League: Starting JC/Antonio Brown / Julian Edelman / Roddy White
Need 1 RB and 1 FLEX:
My other RBs are Zac Stacy /Ahmed Bradshaw / Terrance West
MY WRs are: Terrance Williams / Danny Amendola / Malcolm Floyd / Allen Hurns
2)PPR League: Starting Shane Vereen / Julio Jones / Pierre Garcon / Mike Wallace

    Need 2 FLEX /1 RB:
My other RBs are Eddie Lacy / Joique Bell/ Justin Forsett /Danny Woodhead/James Starks/Benny Cunningham
    MY WRs are: Allen Hurns
    TE: Travis Kelce

    Regards

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Jagan: I’d go Stacy and West out of that group.

Next one, I’d go Lacy, Bell and Woodhead.

  39. Bill says:

Need some trade advice. .5 PPR league. I would give up Percy Harvin, MJD, and Devonta Freeman. I would receive back Randall Cobb, Fred Jackson & Bishop Sankey. I’m on the fence, thoughts?

What’s up with the non-love for the Houston D? I know Clowney is out but he was out for most of last week too. And RG3 and the Skins aren’t great but I think they are better than Derek Carr and the Raiders offense. What’s not to love?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@TMZ Sports: Well, they are in the top-10. That being said, I wrestled with it, and I always update the rankings a few more times before gameday, so they might move up.

  42. Charles says:
    (link)

Jay, are you still high on Jermaine Kearse? And I’m trying to gauge your thinking on why Joique Bell is ranked higher than F. Jax and Ingram since Carolina has not allowed a rushing TD in 6 games. Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Charles: I’m not an Ingram guy. On the flip side, I like what I saw out of Bell on Monday.

  43. Eric says:

    Hi Jay,

Non-PPR league: start Garcon over Torrey Smith tonight?

    Thanks!

      @Eric: Totally.

  44. The Animal says:

    K.Benjamin, J.Bell or J.Forsett?

  45. GuntherTheGreat says:

Another question about Ryan Matthews this week…michael Floyd or Matthews at flex? Standard scoring, bonuses for over 100yds

  46. Robert says:
    (link)

I’m in with you on Mathews this season. Have him as my RB2 and will live or die with him, given my team….

So here’s my question – PPR league, start 2 WR, 2 RB and a flex
Going Adrian Peterson, RB1, Mathews RB2, Alshon Jeffrey WR1 and Kendally Hunter as WR2.

My question is around flex – Keenan Allen or Darren Sproles? Obviously, it is Sproles if Jeffrey’s hamstring keeps him out, the question is moot.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Robert: Right, let’s see how Alshon progresses the next few days. But I’m going Allen here.

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@Robert: wanna see really all in, he’s Jaywrong’s #1 RB, and mine in one league (clearly Jay’s commitment is much higher than mine).

  47. Cups says:

Roddy White and RGIII or Aaron Rodgers

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Cups: I’d stick with White unless you have really good depth at WR.

  48. Teddy Heater says:
    (link)

    Jay,
Thanks for the rankings it makes things a little easier, I’m still having a quandary between starting RG3 over Ben, Ben looked solid on Sunday, but RG3 is going against Jax, so let’s hope that gets him going. Martin just got dropped, I have Charles, Matthews, CJohnson & Sproles. Martin destroyed my season last year, is he worth a flyer for Sproles?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Teddy Heater: I’d say its worth the gamble.

    • And Now The Jon Lovitz Dancers! says:

Hi Jay, number one fan here with a trade dilemma. 8 tm league rostering 2qb 3wr 3rb I got offerred Michael Floyd, Tom Brady, and Le’Veon Bell for Matt Stafford and Megatron. My rb’s are stacy, bush, and jennings, also got fredjax and jeremy hill. Wr are sanders, desean, and boldin. Also have rivers at qb. Given lack of strong rb’s it hard to pass on but I also feel megatron and staffoemrd will put up big numbers on a regular basis. What do ye say ole wise one would ye make the deal?

  52. JP says:

Would you trade Patterson/J. Cameron for Gronk/Crabtree?

    (Standard Scoring)

    • Jay

@JP: It’s fair. I’m holding for now to see what Patterson can do.

  53. Jay_0321 says:

TB is on the wire in one of my leagues. I also have HOU and PHI. Do I grab TB this week or roll with HOU? I lost a tough one in week 1!

    • Jay

      Jay says:

      @Jay_0321: I’d go Tampa here.

    • And Now The Jon Lovitz Dancers! says:

  54. KillerB says:
    (link)

@Jay — dropped my D to load up on some position players but now I need to drop someone to field a D this weekend. This is my team — who would you drop:

QBs: Luck, Palmer, Manuel, Carr (play 2QBs — depth is key)
RBs: Montee, Lacy, Gore, Hyde, Sankey, Bradshaw, Woodhead
WRs: Antonio Brown, Vincent Jackson, Kendall Wright, DeAndre, Wheaton, Justin Hunter
    TEs: Jordan Cameron, Martellus

**If Cameron were starting for sure I would drop Martellus, but I think I need the depth there. Not sure if I should drop a WR or a RB and which one. Would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks man.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@KillerB: Even in a 2 QB league, I’m okay dumping Carr. Or Sankey if you really want that 4th QB.

      • KillerB says:
        (link)

@Jay: You would hold Bradshaw and Woodhead over Sankey?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

          @KillerB: In a redraft? Yeah.

          • KillerB says:
            (link)

@Jay: Ok. trying to package Sankey and a receiver for a better receiver. Currently offering Sankey and Justin Hunter for Michael Floyd, Kelvin Benjamin and Wes Welker. You think those all make sense? Then go grab a defense off the wire for Sunday. If it doesn’t take, then I’ll drop Sankey and grab a D. Thanks Jay for all your guidance. Let me know what you think.

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@KillerB: Yeah, they’re fair. I’d want Floyd out of those names. And no problem!

  55. Chris says:
    (link)

Start Forsett tonight at RB2 or gamble that Doug Martin is healthy enough to be good on Sunday?

Same question for the loser of that pair and Torrey Smith, Mike Wallace, Mark Ingram or Golden Tate at flex?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Chris: I’m okay with either, and would give the slight edge to Martin. I’d go Tate there.

  56. Sal says:
    (link)

Who would you start from the following:

    1) Vareen or Ellington
    2) Edelman, Kendall Wright or Fitzgerald (pick 2)
    3) Houston or Denver D

Thanks for rankings and read btw

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Sal: Vereen, Edelman and Wright, Houston.

  57. Frank White says:

Sup Brotha!!! I got Mathews vs Seattle and Bush at RB and I’m looking for a flex n Rb spot
    Mathews
    Justin Forsett
    Fred Jackson
    Woodhead
    Boykin
    Nicks
I was gonna start Forsett at flex but I’m scared at Matthews at Rb spot. Anyway which 2 should I start, 1 flex, 1 RB?? Thanks!!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Frank White: I think you have to flex Forsett here.

      • Frank White says:

Thanks.. I hate the trade too..

  58. Frank White says:
    (link)

Also, Someone sent me a trade offer and I don’t like it but you know more about it then me. It’s Gore and Steve Smith Jr. for Marshall.. No, right or do you like Gore??
    Brees
    Barandon Marshall
    Cruz
    Maclin
    Mathews
    Bush
    Rudolph
    Forsett
    Fred Jackson
    Woodhead
    McFadden
    Larry Donnell
    Boykin
    Nicks

    • Pope says:
      (link)

@Frank White: I’m not trying to answer for Jay, but I know he’s not a big fan of Gore

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Frank White: Not big on Gore, but Marshall is a top-10 WR, you should be getting something bigger.

  61. Baren says:
    (link)

    Flex: Spiller or Ellington?
Miami’s LB trio is all kinds of banged up but so is Ellington’s foot. I feel like it’s pretty close here. Is this a flip a coin situation or do you think one will greatly outperform the other.

Thanks for all the great write-ups. Good stuff as always.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Baren: Ellington. Not a huge gap, but not a coin flip either. No problem!

  62. Zandy says:
    (link)

I own Josh Gordon – what value should I be trying to trade him for? Better to trade now in advance of the news and make someone else take the risk?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Zandy: It almost looks like 90% he’ll play this year. How many games is up for debate, but if you do trade him, I’d at least want a tier 2 WR for him.

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@Zandy: i’ve gotten “offers” like ingram, boykin and t.williams (1 each, not all three). i refused all of them on grounds that guy i dropped to get gordon was my least bench player, and i already have 3 guys better or equal to T.Will.

      • Zandy says:

      (link)

      @jim: Lee and Woody.

  65. Sange76 says:
    (link)

Pretty stacked at WR with Julio jones, Vincent Jackson and kelvin Benjamin. I have Jordan Matthews and Andrew Hawkins on my bench. I’m only rolling with the Patriots Def.
worth it to drop a bench WR for any of these D’s? New Orleans, Minnesota, Tennessee, Detroit?

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Sange76: Meh, not worth it right now.

  66. Pope says:
    (link)

    Thanks for the rankings, Jay.

    1) Trying to make a crazy trade in my 8 team PPR league. How do you feel about offering Cruz, Spiller, Floyd, Wallace, Pitta for Megatron? I’m left with Forte, L. Bell, D. Thomas, K. Wright, G. Olsen, D. Murray, R. Mathews, J. Gordon

    2) In my 12 team standard league, I’m trying to dump K. Rudolph because I’ve got Olsen. How high are you on Hyde and Watkins? He declined when I offered Rudolph for Hyde. Now he’s offered Watkins and DMC for Rudolph. Not crazy about that.
But I’m a big fan of Hyde, but how much do I throw down for him? Rudolph+(Wright, J. Bell, L. Miller, A. Bradshaw, B. Hartline, K. Britt, R. Streater)?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Pope: Thanks for backin’ me up in the forum!

Yeah, I mean, if the other owner has some holes to fill, but I’m not sure that gets it done. I still like the Megatron side there.

I’ve very high on Hyde, moreso than Watkins. If he needs a WR, I’d try to sell him on Hartline. Or Miller if he still believes. Britt is okay too… but beyond that, its overpay territory.

      • Pope says:
        (link)

        @Jay: No problem!

I doubt he’ll go for it but his bench is pretty trashy, especially for an 8 teamer.

I’ll try all of those. Got to watch the Cowboys game and Hyde looked real good.

        Thanks broseph

think my last question got deleted.

Can you give me a quick explanation on why you haven’t jumped ship on the Rams like everyone else? i usually try and tie a decent Defense to an above average offense so they kill the clock, keep the ball out of the other teams hands, etc. I feel like STL does the exact opposite. 4 and outs for days, turnover prone qb, etc etc. even without that, their D looked like sh*t to the vikings.

I ask because STL, CINCY, and MIA are all available in my league. do you feel confident with ranking STL so high on your rankings?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@bobbie: I still think they are more than a sum of their parts and I do like their match-up this week. That being said, you raise good points, and I will state that my rankings will be updated by tomorrow morning. Their position may change.

  72. STL says:

@Ryan: Oh, Jennings instead of Lee then.

what’s the reasoning on why spiller is now ahead of c.johnson, a few days back it was the reverse (unless my memory is faulty here), some injury i’m missing? or more carries going to ivory?

@A Wesley Snipes Life: very much appreciate the extra effort of changing the rankings from when you made the first batch wednesday till now. i’m not even sure if any other site does that. i’d guess at least 4/5th don’t.

i only have cutler in one league. PPR. with this lineup drop somebody to grab Locker or RW3? worried about his low rank and how both WR’s might be hurt too. start 2 RB/3 WR/ no flex
    cutler
    mathews/vereen/S-Jax/Miller/Rainey/Sankey
    Julio/garcon/wayne/m.floyd/stills/streater/Gordon (RES stash)
    graham

mccluster may be best RB free agent so i probably shouldn’t drop RB.
james jones/baldwin probably best free agent WR
    1. so drop i guess floyd for locker or RW3?
    2. keep streater or james jones? (i heard jones played many less snaps last week)
    3. any big differences among ROS value between locker/RW3 as backup? or could just go back to no backup.

league with .5 PPR, and .1 pts per return yard. Lee or A.roberts (both returns for WAS) at flex. this used to be morris’s spot, but peterson screwed that up. Yahoo thinks Roberts wins by 10 pts, but return yards are fickle. T.Austin is other option.
