It’s here!

OK not here just yet, but it’s coming!

Prepare yourselves for RazzBowl 6, or should we say RizzBowl?  Ok, now that my one and only homage to Gen Z lingo is out of the way, we can get into the nuts and bolts of the only-of-its-kind “better ball” tournament.  We are back with your truly at the controls with a target of 50 divisions/600 teams, it is time to start the festivities.  I am bringing my RazzBowl5 9th overall finish to compete against all fantasy football enthusiasts.

If interested in the ultimate in fantasy football glory, fill out the entry form here (Ctrl+Click to follow link):  https://nfc.shgn.com/signup/football/RazzBowl

To learn more about the rules, prizes, and who is competing this year, please continue to read the remainder of this article.  The good news for all our returning players is the rules are identical to last season.

Everyone should fill out the form, whether you are an analyst (thanks for joining us!) or a hopeful “Regular Joe/Jane/etc.” looking for your shot at the Big Time. Feel free to send this post to anyone you think might be interested. We want to make this year’s tournament the biggest yet!

Now, to the 5 W’s:

What:

A fantasy football best ball cutline tournament that pits fantasy football celebs from the industry against the up-and-coming “Joes and Janes” from the public. One champion will be crowned and remembered forever on the internets.

Who:

All are welcome! Especially you! But in case you want to hear about the celebrities you can play against, why, it’s none other than the best of the best:

  • Razzball’s own Bobby LaMarco (@BobbyLamarco), Sky Guasco (@SkyGuasco), Derek Favret (@Derek_Favret), Jeff Kezar (@jefferson_21), Richard Sickels (@RichSickelsGBM), Ben Wasley (@FantasyFirstDwn), Rudy Gamble (@rudygamble), BDon (@RazzBDon), and even yours truly Matt Stiles (@stiles08).
  • NFFC’s Geoff Stein (@GeoffreyStein)
  • Fantasy Alarm’s Howard Bender (@rotobuzzguy)
  • CBS Sports’ Heath Cummings (@heathcummingssr)
  • FWFB’s Justin Mason (@JustinMasonFWFB)
  • 97.3 ESPN’s Mike Gill (host of The Sports Bash @MikeGillShow)
  • Fantasy Pro’s Heath Capps (@HeathCapps)
  • RotoWire’s Scott Jenstad (@ScottJenstad)

You may ask: “I’m just a simple anonymous internet commenter. How can I ever hope to defeat experts in a battle of imaginary football management?” Because just last year, “fan” entrant Ken Zalis fended off an elite squad of fantasy footballers — including those we previously named-dropped — to win the championship.

Where:

The National Fantasy Football Championship (NFFC) will be hosting this contest on their beautiful, state-of-the-art platform using a slightly modified version of their Cutline Championship.

Why:

Because we love fantasy football and this incredible community! Also, we want to crown the best fantasy footballer in the universe.

When:

Slow snake drafts featuring a 4-hour clock will begin on the NFFC platform on July 29th, 2024.

How: All applicants should fill out the form at the TOP of this page

Analysts will be put into one pool with fans/followers, and new in 2024, all entrants will be randomly assigned to a division.  Gone are the days of anyone having to enter the lottery to play in the main event RazzBowl tournament.  You sign up and you are in!  Make sure to read Razzball football articles, listen to the Razzball football podcasts and video interviews, and follow us on X/Twitter/Reddit/YouTube as we discuss all things fantasy football and share our tips, tricks, and techniques to field the most competitive RazzBowl6 roster.

Format:

Better Ball Tournament: A version of best ball that features a minimal weekly free agent acquisition budget (FAAB) ($10 per team for the entire season with a minimum of $1 bids) to prevent teams from dying off. Managers will compete in 12-team leagues for the first 10 weeks of the season, with the top 2 teams from each league advancing to the RazzBowl Championship Bracket and the next 3 highest scoring teams in each league advancing to the RazzBowl Wild Card Bracket. The bottom half of each league will be eliminated at the end of week 10. Are you still with me?  Is this making sense?

Round 1: Weeks 11-13 (scores combined for those 3 weeks + weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-10)

The top 30 scoring RazzBowl Championship Bracket teams after Week 13 advance to Week 14; all other teams from the Championship bracket move to the Wild Card bracket. The top 6 scoring Wild Card teams move up to the Championship bracket; the next 40 advance in the Wild Card bracket. All other teams in the Wild Card bracket are eliminated.

Round 2: Week 14 (take each team’s weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-10, plus weekly playoff scoring average, plus your score from Week 14)

The top 20 scoring RazzBowl Championship Bracket teams advance; all other teams move to the Wild Card bracket. The top 4 scoring RazzBowl Wild Card teams move up to the Championship bracket while the next 20 advance in the Wild Card bracket. All other teams in the Wild Card bracket are eliminated.

Round 3: Week 15 (take each team’s weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-10, plus weekly playoff scoring average, plus your score from Week 15)

The top 14 scoring RazzBowl Championship Bracket teams advance; all others move to the Wild Card bracket. The top 2 scoring RazzBowl Wild Card team moves up to the Championship bracket: the next 11 advance in the Wild Card bracket. All other teams in the Wild Card bracket are eliminated.

Round 4: Week 16 (take each team’s weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-10, plus weekly playoff scoring average, plus your score from Week 16)

The top 9 scoring RazzBowl Championship Bracket teams advance; all others move to the Wild Card bracket. The top scoring (1) RazzBowl Wild Card team moves up to the RazzBowl Championship Bracket; the next 6 advance in the RazzBowl Wild Card bracket. All other teams in the Wild Card bracket are eliminated.

Final Round: Week 17 (take each team’s weekly scoring average from Weeks 1-10, plus weekly playoff scoring average, plus your score from Week 17)

10 teams compete in the RazzBowl Championship Bracket for the overall title of 2024 RazzBowl Champion. The remaining Wild Card teams compete in the RazzBowl Wild Card Bracket for the consolation championship.

PLEASE NOTE: In the event of a tie for teams to advance to the next round in either the Championship or Wild Card rounds, all tied scores at the cutline will advance.

Roster Positions: 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 2 Flex (RB, WR, TE), 11 Bench

Lineup Submission:

Leagues will have an optimal scoring format (best ball) for Weeks 1 through 10, where your highest scoring player from each of the 9 starting positions is scored at the end of each week. Then in the RazzBowl Championship/RazzBowl Wild Card Tiers of Weeks 11 through 17, all owners must set their starting lineup each week. This is different from the regular season.
