It’s here.

It’s finally here.

The Cutline has come and gone. The RazzBowl has bid “goodbye” to half its competitors. There is a Championship Tier, a Wildcard Tier, and from now on, this is one big tournament.

Join me as we examine the latest– significant— changes in the RazzBowl. Shall you?

The Cutline

In every one of the RazzBowl’s 21 leagues, the 7th-through-12th-place teams have been eliminated from the competition. If you were among this group, thank you so much for playing, please give it another go next year, etc. etc.

The 1st-through-3rd finishers now make up the 63-team Championship Tier.

The 4th-through-6th finishers now make up the 63-team Wildcard Tier.

The League you were assigned and drafted in no longer matters. All that matters now is how you finish each round among all other Championship or Wildcard Tier teams. Here’s what to expect from now on:

No More FAAB

That’s right. No more FAAB, no more waivers, teams are locked. The players you have are the players you have, and that’s that. Simple.

No More Best Ball

Yup. From here on out, from Week 11 through Week 17, you have to set your lineup. No more best ball, no more lucking into a crazy huge scoring week from J.D. McKissic or Nyheim Hines. You have to commit to them ahead of time.

Your average “regular season” scoring comes with you

Think of the pre-Cutline best ball weeks, 1-through-10, as the “regular season” of the RazzBowl, while Week 11 through Week 17 is the “playoffs.” Here is how the scoring will work out for each round:

  • Round 1 (Weeks 11-13): Your total score from this round, plus your regular season scoring average
  • Round 2 (Week 14): Your score from this round, plus your playoff (Week 11-13) average, plus your regular season average
  • Round 3 (Week 15): Your score from this round, plus your playoff (Week 11-14) average, plus your regular season average
  • Round 4 (Week 16): Your score from this round, plus your playoff (Week 11-15) average, plus your regular season average
  • Final Round (Week 17): Your score from this round, plus your playoff (Week 11-16) average, plus your regular season average

So, at no time should a single bad week completely tank your chances, though obviously, in a tournament that starts with 126 teams, you need to be consistently performing to hope to win.

There are Cutlines after every round

Here are how the Cutlines will work after each round:

  • Round 1 (Weeks 11-13): Top 30 in Championship advance to round 2; bottom 33 drop to Wildcard Tier for round 2. Top 6 in Wildcard move up to Championship for round 2; next 40 advance to round 2 in the Wildcard Tier; bottom 17 are out of the tournament.
  • Round 2 (Week 14): Top 20 in the Championship advance to round 3; bottom 16 drop to Wildcard Tier for round 3. Top 4 in Wildcard move up to Championship for round 3; next 20 advance to round 3 in the Wildcard Tier; bottom 49 are out of the tournament.
  • Round 3 (Week 15): Top 14 in the Championship advance to round 4; bottom 10 drop to Wildcard Tier for round 4. Top 2 in Wildcard move up to Championship for round 4; next 11 advance to round 4 in the Wildcard Tier; bottom 23 are out of the tournament.
  • Round 4 (Week 16): Top 9 in the Championship advance to the Finals; bottom 5 drop to the Wildcard Tier for the Finals. Top 1 in the Wildcard moves up to Championship for the Finals; next 6 advance to the Finals in the Wildcard Tier; bottom 14 are out of the tournament.
  • Final Round (Week 17): 10 teams will remain in the Championship, prizes awarded to the Winner and the Runner-Up; 11 will battle in the Wildcard Tier, with a prize awarded to the top team in that tier.

That’s it! Good luck to the 126 teams remaining in the competition!
