With just three weeks of games — and two FAAB runs — left until the first Cutline, the competition is heating up in the 2021 RazzBowl! How does the Top Ten look after last week’s bye-ridden slate? Who blew the last of their FAAB without a runner-up bid? Who flew up the standings, and who dropped like a rock? All this and more is waiting for you inside! So pop the cork on a little frizzante arneis and join me as we explore the current state of RazzBowl 3!

The Waiver Report

Waivers this week were pretty boring. A lot of $1-$2 bids, very few runner-up bids at all, folks are mostly filling holes for bye weeks it seems. There does appear to be a current trend in RazzBowl waiver action for picking up Tight Ends: Ricky Seals-Jones, Mo-Alie Cox, Dawson Knox, and C.J. Uzomah were all picked up in several leagues. Shoutout in particular to Heath Capps of SB Nation, who spent $6 against no runner-up bid to get Uzomah in League 2. After logging a goose egg at the position last week, can’t blame him, frankly.

Other than that, a combination of teams losing interest — it happens in every large tournament, even those with high stakes — and competitive teams out of, or nearly out of FAAB budget, has rendered the waiver wire kind of a bore.

Rising and Falling

Now, for a little more fun: the big movers up and down the Overall Standings. Let’s take a look!

Racking up the tournament’s highest point total for the week is Fantasy Sharks’ staff writer Will Weiler, whose 211.90 points were created in part by the resurgent performances of A.J. Brown, Mike Evans, and Alvin Kamara, along with D’Andre Swift. Plus, having Jalen Hurts these days, well… doesn’t hurt. Will’s been struggling so far, though, so he still finds himself at 131st overall. The performance did move him from 11th in his league to Consolation Bracket territory at 6th, and was the biggest jump up in overall standings at 86 spots.

On the other side of that coin, Yahoo Sports’ Dalton Del Don recorded the lowest score of the week, at 58.60. His QB quartet of Dak Prescott, Trevor Lawrence, Trey Lance, and Taysom Hill, for obvious reasons, did not muster a point among them. Del Don also recorded a combined 4.2 points from his top two RBs (Darrynton Evans and Sony Michel). An excellent, and wasted, performance from Kyle Pitts accounted for nearly half his recorded points. Brutal.

Del Don’s struggles didn’t start this week, though, so his dismal performance dropped him just 16 spots. The farthest fall down the OAs belongs instead to a pair of managers, Rotoballer’s Mark Kieffer and The Dynasty Guru’s Paul Monte, who each dropped 67 spots (Kieffer to 159th, Monte to 172nd). For Kieffer, the big issue was the bullet hole at QB (Russell Wilson, Trey Lance, and Baker Mayfield didn’t play), while on Monte’s team, injuries, byes, and bed-shitting by the likes of Christian McCaffrey, Kareem Hunt, Patrick Mahomes, Darren Waller, and Adam Thielen combined to kill his chances. Better luck next week, Mark and Paul!

The Top Ten

Last, but certainly not least, the Top Ten Overall Standings. How does it look this week?

A lot like last week.

Average Joe, Robert Goldman has taken over the top spot from Mitch Bunker, but most of the Top Ten looks pretty similar to last week, with everyone shuffling: Kenyatta Storin moved up from 9th to 2nd; Bunker dropped from the lead to 3rd; Kev “RotoSurgeon” Mahserejian moves up from 8th to 4th; Tim Heaney, John Young, and Bobby LaMarco each shifted in unison down 2 spots, to 5th, 6th, and 7th, respectively; THE Joey Wright dipped from 7th to 8th, and fan Kevin Lyons returned to the Top Ten at the 10th spot.

The one newcomer to the Top Ten is fan Kurt Brown, who popped up 8 spots to 9th thanks in large part to great weeks from Tom Brady, Ja’Marr Chase, Terry McLaurin, and D’Ernest Johnson. Welcome to the Top Ten, Kurt!

And that wraps up the update for this week. Remember folks: just three more weeks of games before the Cutline chops half the managers out. Get into the top six — preferably top three — in your league!
