The games of Week 9 are upon us, people! In fact, considering I’m writing this on Friday, Week 9 has already begun with what turned into a real barn burner between the Jets and Colts. And as an Elijah Moore owner, I for one welcome our new Thursday Night Football offensive explosion overlords. Let’s dive in to the state of the RazzBowl as of the games of Week 8, so not including my awesome Elijah Moore / Ty Johnson performances!

The Waiver Report

Well, I’m sure you can guess the big name on the waiver wire this week: “All Day” Adrian Peterson is back, and he got picked up all over the place. I originally drafted him, and then dropped him for Mark Ingram, and then he got picked up for $8 (I’m flat broke) in my league, so please, I ask for your understanding and thank you for giving me space during this difficult time.

Tennessee running backs were, no surprise, the targets of favor in this week’s FAAB run. The only players across the tournament who went for more than $2 were Peterson and Jeremy McNichols. They each went for $1-$3 in most leagues, though McNichols logged a $5 winning bid, and Peterson went for $8 in two leagues. Good luck to all the folks with newly-rostered TEN RBs!

Rising and Falling

Tournament leader Robert Goldman scored the highest total in the tournament this week, a 200.55-point tour de force on the backs of Tom Brady, AJ Brown, Robert Woods, Jonathan Taylor, and Najee Harris. But, Bob here was already the tournament leader, so his huge score resulted in no change to his rank. The farthest trip up the standings last week belonged to Fantasy Alarm senior analyst Adam Ronis, whose 187.05 points moved him up 62 spots from 194th overall to 132nd, thanks in large part to Michael Carter, AJ Brown, Justin Fields, and Chris Godwin. Congrats to both Robert and Adam!

(A quick footnote… my score last week was 199.05… just 1.5 points behind Robert for 2nd-most in the tournament. So… this is how one gets an arch nemesis, eh?)

On the Falling side of the Rising and Falling section, Adam’s Fantasy Alarm compatriot, Howard Bender, finds his team at the bottom of the scoring table this week. What happened? Well, Sam Darnold eked out a higher score than Kyler Murray, and at 13 and change, it was the only roster position with double-digit points for Howard this week. Just one RB scored any points for him at all, and even Odell Beckham, Jr.’s 1.6 points made it into his Flex. Extremely rough. This score also caused Howard to tumble the furthest down the Overall this week, losing 89 spots, from 114th to 203rd. Better luck next week, Howard!

The Top Ten

OK, now let’s take a look at the Top Ten for the week… oh look! Robert Goldman is STILL on top, considering he was our leader last week, AND scored the highest Week 8 total in the entire RazzBowl. Really staking his claim on that top spot. Most of the rest of the Top Ten is the same folks, shuffling around, but Kenyatta Storin remained in 2nd place. At 3rd this week, Kev Mahserejian moved up one spot, while behind him Bobby LaMarco moved up 3 spots to #4, and Kurt Brown rejoined the Top Five, moving up 4 spots. Tim Heaney dropped one to 6th, Andy Hall re-joined the Top Ten, moving up 10 spots from 17th to 7th, Mitch Bunker slipped 5 spots to 8th, and Michael Salfino rejoined the Top Ten, moving up from 12th.

We have one newcomer (I believe) to the Top Ten this week, as ChiCitySports’ Stephen Johnson joins the fray, moving up to 9th from 11th. Like a lot of the successful teams this year, Stephen’s roster includes Josh Allen, Joe Mixon, Darrell Henderson, and Cordarrelle Patterson. Welcome to the Top Ten, Stephen!

Two big reminders, folks: next Wednesday, November 10th is the Final FAAB run for the RazzBowl season! So search your couch cushions, and leave it all out there. In addition, just two more weeks of games remain before the first cutline! After Week 10, you’ll need to start setting your lineups! No more best ball!

Until next time, RazzBowlers!
