I picked the wrong time to go on holiday.

“But I’ve been surprised before. I’ll wait and see.”

That’s what I said at the end of the update last week. GoldRazz warned me, and thanks to him, I know the playoff format in the literature on the Rules page of our leagues is not what is being presented in the results. I can say with confidence that our individual results are correct. I want to thank all who have reached out.

I said in the early stages of the tournament that I’m accountable for the information I send. I’ve been communicating what I understand. The understanding is my responsibility, and I’ve never willingly misled. But there’s a saying about intentions. If you have blame to give, give it to me, and only me.

Briefly, Round 2 began in Week 13. It appears that, while 36 teams are remaining in the Championship Tier, 16 of those came from the Championship Tier at the end of Round 1, and 20 came from the Wild Card Tier at the end of Round 1. This follows closely to the other Cutline Tournaments at NFFC. Again, I thank GoldRazz for pointing this out to me. I’m not sure the tables we are seeing after Week 13 are accurate. I do believe Round 2 will end after Week 14, and as our tournament is a smaller scale than a typical NFFC Cutline league, I need to check into the instructions I have.

I am working with someone at NFFC to figure all this out. My goal is to change the inconsistencies and have confidence in what I’m saying and what we’ll see moving forward. I’d like us to build a community here, and that begins with communication. I will soon be able to tell you what will happen next, but I wanted to provide an update now.

This is the Championship Tier after Week 13; I have removed the “Cutlines” presented on the site, because I don’t believe they’re accurate:

It was a nice week for @vague11! As I had my lowest weekly score of the season, you can give me tips on how to set a lineup.

As you can see, the scores from Week 13 are lower than we’re used to. For the last three weeks, total points per game in the NFL have been well below the levels in the 2024 season, and have been well below what the bettors believe will be scored.

If you’re not in RazzBowl7 and have an interest in participating in RazzBowl8, reach out to me here for details.

The Thursday game is in Detroit as the Lions and Cowboys hog Thursdays! Well, for one more Week. And we will have to bear one more week of byes as the Carolina Panthers, New England Patriots, New York Giants, and San Francisco 49ers are the final teams to get a week off in the 2025 season.

PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TWO THINGS:

  • Waivers are no longer available. Our teams now will be our teams for the rest of the season.
  • Starting this week, we are in charge of managing our lineups. The Bestball phase is over. To set lineups, the best two ways I know:
    • From the “My Teams” page in NFFC at https://nfc.shgn.com/myTeams click on the link for your team name to get there, or
    • From the “League Home” page of the division at https://nfc.shgn.com/league there is a “League Information” window to the right; from there click on the “Modify: Set Lineup” link.

Take a moment to scan the site for our other articles that are dropping daily! We also cover MLB, NBA, and NHL, so visit us all year long. We even have a shop: https://store.razzball.com/

We also host a weekly Sunday Start/Sit Show throughout the fantasy football season! We’d love to have you join us on the Razzball YouTube channel (@RazzballFantasy) starting at 11:00 a.m. EST (or thereabouts).

So I’m a little confused. Does that mean that the old playoff format is now gone and we’re using a different system, or are you working with NFFC to get the tournament to match the original rules. Admittedly I am biased, as I am one of the 14 people who thought I would still be in the Championship tier but now find ourselves in the Wild Card Tier, which is definitely rough as some of the people who got promoted to Championship Tier had worse weeks than those in Championship Tier and got demoted.

I know this is a headache and a half for you and I don’t envy your position at all. I’m just looking for some firm clarification what we’re dealing with moving forward. Your words made me think you’re trying to fix it, but posting those current results makes it feel like we’re just seeing where the ride takes us.

Understand this is not criticism at all as I know you guys are doing your best here and are dealing with some things out of your control. Just trying to figure out if I should be playing more for the floor or for the ceiling.

      Hi Scott:
      I understand your confusion.
I didn’t say because I don’t know, and I’m still trying to get clarification. I asked two differing questions about the format and got affirmative answers to both. That tells me that the person I’m asking questions of might not know the answer.
So far, the first round of our playoffs followed the standard NFFC Cutline format: 40% of the Championship Tier advanced, and the rest went to the Wild Card Tier. The top 20 in the Wild Card Tier moved to the Championship Tier.
I’m concerned about not knowing what happens next. Using the instructions I’ve seen for the stock Cutline produces fractions. Those rules were written for larger tournaments. I’ve made my concerns plain to the people who should be supporting this besides myself. I’m going to give this another day to get an answer.
The only results I posted this week are the ones showing where each individual is at. That’s the data. The rest is presentation, and I used what people are seeing on the NFFC site.
I want the messaging to be consistent. That’s a compromise. My preference is that we follow what I’ve been telling our members, and that’s what the NFFC site is telling our members. I’m preparing for the possibility I may not get everything I want.

Sup Crews in a 2 qb start league im debating on dropping daniel jones or Caleb williams for week.16 for bryce young. Both have tough schedules and jones playing with fractured leg. Would you drop one for young.

Currently have miami defense this week vs jets. Need a win this week to make playoffs an im playing the first place team. Look for a big upside swing for defense and kicker. Currently have dolphins defense at jets and loop at home vs steelers. Would you consider any of the following defenses over dolphins. Commanders, titans, Ravens, Vikings, jets , saints, packers. Im eyeing the titans i think the game is gonna be really low scoring vs browns. 33.5 current over under.

Any Kickers over loop? Current FA Prater, Melvis, mcmanus, lutz, santos, Patterson, lutz, folk, Reichard, Gonzalez, szymt, grupe ryland, moody, smyth, slye

    Thanks

      Hi Eddie:
      Thanks for your questions!
First, absent weather information, as it’s too early to get an accurate forecast for Week 16, I’d drop Jones against the 49ers. I understand why you want Bryce Young. For me, he’s too TD-dependent, but the Panthers keep winning games we expect them to lose, and that game against the Bucs is attractive.
As far as defenses go, points allowed aren’t the metric I’m interested in; it’s the potential to generate sacks and turnovers. Of the teams you have listed, I’d go Packers, then Titans. The Vikings are all right, but their offense can put them in tough spots. The Ravens, Jets, and Commanders are bad defenses; the opponent is not likely to change that. The Saints could be a dark horse, but it still doesn’t put them above Green Bay or Tennessee, and I’d like them better at home. Check and see if Jacksonville is available. I don’t think they’ll hold back trying to pressure Daniel Jones.
For your kicker, Loop’s all right, I think the Ravens will find their mojo against the Steelers. Of the others, I love Lutz in Las Vegas: good team vs bad team, indoor stadium; also Melvis in Glendale vs the Cards should have points and is also indoors. I’ll pass on the others.
I hope this helps! If you get a chance, join us for our Sunday Start/Sit Show on the Razzball YouTube channel (@RazzballFantasy) starting at 11:00 a.m. EST (or thereabouts).
