I guess Vincent Jackson has been on maternity leave.  That really makes those DUI’s bad business.  But he finally has a time table to return to the playing field.  There are a whole slew of logistics that are boring and money driven, but suffice it to say, he will be suiting up to play in week 12 of this season.  Unlike Sidney Rice, who we can question health-wise, we know VJax at least will be rested.  He will also be playing for cash, so I don’t see him coming back with a beer gut (but that would be funny).

So this leaves you with a decision.  There’s a chance he is hanging out in your free agency pool and you need to decide if it is worth picking him up.  Let’s look at the numbers.  There is a good chance your championship game is week 16, so that cuts the total games you can start him to 5.  And if you aren’t a front runner, you may only really need him in the regular season to help you possibly make it into the postseason, so there is a chance you could have him on your bench for 6 weeks and then only actually use him for 2-3 weeks.  If you have a 5 player bench that might be insane.  If you have a 7-8 player bench there is a chance he is already sitting on someone elses bench. Bench whore.

But say he is out there and you have enough bench space? Grab him! And if you have just a few bench spots, but have an easy player to drop right now?  Grab him! You can always try to trade him or just drop him again when you need to.

His weeks 12-16 schedule is @IND, OAK, KC, SF, @CIN.  Not great, but not horrible and the way Rivers is playing he is going to be useful.  But what about our man Malcolm Floyd? That sir is a great question and I’m glad you asked. Floyd gets the shaft.  He is currently the 4th overall receiver in fantasy points and will continue to get his targets for 6 more weeks, but right when you need him the most he’ll be playing second fiddle to VJax and you need him playing wide receiver not joining some friggin fiddle orchestra!

Floyd’s weeks 6-11 schedule is @STL, NE, TEN, @HOU, BYE, DEN.  That is a pretty nice set up there (except BYE, those dudes shut everybody out), but the closer you get to VJax’s return the further his trade value plummets.  I would see what you can get for him.  You need to win those playoff games and Floyd might help you get there, but he’s not going to have much of a chance to help you win. And if you can get someone that might help you now and later for him, I’d do it.
