In many leagues, the playoffs have begun. I hope The Stats Machine was able to help you make it this far. Now it is up to you to bring home the hardware. In the meantime here are The Stats Machine’s players of the week.

Hidden Rupees Category 1: Best of the Rest (Weekly)

These are the players that are owned in less than approximately 85% of most leagues that were top performers based on last week’s stats.

Running Back: Tre Mason (33.1 SAV)

If Tre Mason and Boobie Dixon stood in front of each other and drew a line between themselves would it be called the Mason-Dixon line? Mason “The Line” Dixon is actually the main character of Rocky Balboa, the 6th film in the Rocky franchise. Well last week, Tre Mason, aka “Zac Stacy Who”, crossed the goal line 3 times. Twice on the ground and once in the air. On 17 carries he rushed for 117 yards and added 3 catches on 4 targets for 47 more yards. While this was his second game going over 100 yards on the ground, it was his first big fantasy game and he is now the “must add” of the week according to many of the experts. Here’s what the Stats Machine says, grab if you can get him. If you don’t start him at least your opponents won’t be able to either.

Wide Receiver: Kendall Wright (29.45 SAV)

All the Wright moves. Kendall Wright was supposed to be a strong player this season in PPR formats. Well he’s only broken 20 points in a week twice so far this season. That includes last week when he had 7 receptions on 9 targets for 132 yards and a touchdown. With Justin Hunter now out for the season, expect Wright’s looks to go up. Honorable Mention (Eddie Royal 28.3)

Tight End: Coby Fleener (27.6 SAV)

Fleener Fleener chicken deener! And yes, that’s me quoting me. Coby racked up 127 yards and 2 touchdowns last week on just 4 catches. The Stats Machine is mocking me because I had him on my bench. To make matters worse, I started Delanie Walker who absolutely shit the bed. I’ve been flip flopping these two and and just can’t seem to pick the right one on the right week. Fleener has been very good the last few weeks, but his value really depends on Dwayne Allen’s absence. Honorable Mention (Jordan Reed 27.15)

Hidden Rupees Category 2: Best of the Best (Weekly)

These are the best performing players based on last week’s stats regardless of percentage owned.

Running Back: Le’Veon Bell (50.2 SAV)

When I wake up in the morning,
And the ‘larm gives out a warning,
I don’t think I’ll ever make it on time,
By the time i grab my books,
And i give myself a look,
I’m at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by,.
It’s alright ’cause I’m Saved by the Le’Veon Bell.

When someone wants Taco Bell they run for the border. When they want Le’Veon Bell they run for the end zone. Le’Veon Bell carried 21 times for 95 yards and a touchdown. Is that all? NFW! He also had 8 receptions for another 159 yards! According to the Stats Machine this was the single best week of the season for any player. Le’Veon bells. Le’Veon bells. Le’Veon all the way! Honorable Mention (C.J. Anderson 33.2)

Wide Receiver: DeAndre Hopkins (42.55 SAV)

Andre the Giant was known as the 8th wonder of the world to wrestling fans. DeAndre Hopkins is making fantasy owners wonder why they drafted Andre Johnson over him. How’d that work out? Hopkins was perfect, catching 9 of 9 passes thrown to him for a whopping 238 yards and 2 touchdowns. I wonder how many people had him on their bench. I wonder how many will be starting him this week. I wonder why I don’t own him anywhere! Honorable Mention (Calvin Johnson 38.8)

Tight End: Coby Fleener (27.6 SAV)

See above…

The Stats Machine would like to point out that C.J. Anderson has been the best running back since week 10. Good luck to all of you that have begun your championship run. Here are the stats (Downloadable Excel)…

Offered 2 trades in my dynasty league which one would you accept if any? Round values attached to each player. 1/2 ppr league.

Deandre Hopkins (5) for Giovani Bernard (5)
    Or
Odell Beckham (25) for Jamaal Charles (5)

@Mike: In the first trade I want Hopkins and in the second, Charles. That’s without knowing anything else about your roster or its needs.

  2. Nick says:

Hey Malamoney, with R Jennings & Williams looking like a 50/50 split, should i plug Ryan Mathews in at flex or M Bryant, Sanu, L Murray, J Reed are also options…non-ppr league…thanks!

    • malamoney

      @Nick: Mathews

Which to start at TE Jordan Reed or Delanie Walker at RB Johnathan Stewart or Fred jax and at DEF BAL or Buffalo

@Dom B: Walker. Leaning towards Stewart.

@malamoney: thinking the hunter and likely wright absences helps delanie i suppose. i have same TE concern.

          malamoney says:
          (link)

@Aubrey Plaza’s Pillow: Wright, Walker and Hunter lead the team in targets. Take away Hunter who was averaging almost 6 targets a game and now everyone else should get a few extra looks. If Wright doesn’t play, there’s another 7 targets that need to find an owner. With both out Walker should definitely get even more targets than his current 6.5 per game, but defenses will also be able to key in on him. I still like Walker. Especially against a Jets defense which has given up a league high 12 TDs to tight ends.

Play allen or mathews or denard in flex

@Barker: Cam over Orton and Bridgewater. Leaning towards Allen over Mathews because of PPR.

  6. Nick says:

Hey Malamoney, someone stupidly dropped Detroit defense for AP. Should I grab Detroit in a 10-team for the playoffs next week & after (v. Minn & @ Chi) ? I have St Louis now, & I can drop Andre Williams as my handcuff to Jennings (as I wont even use Andre, I have R Mathews, L Murray on bench with D Murray, Ingram & R Jennings as my starters…

Or I can hold A Williams in case something bad happens to Jennings this week & drop Sanu (I have Cobb/Beckham/K Allen as my starters & M Bryant on bench) or J Reed drop (I have Witten)

    • Nick says:
      (link)

@Nick: also, Charles Johnson (Has detroit & miami) or allen hurns (baltimore & tenn) are available. should I drop andre williams for either? I could also drop St Louis defense since I’m going to grab Detroit for the next 2 weeks…

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Nick: I wouldn’t drop Williams just yet. I like St. Louis over Detroit DST. You can drop Sanu for them if you think you might use them or want to block an opponent from picking them up.

      • Nick says:
        (link)

@malamoney: ok, Charles was taken, so is Hurns or Cook (dropping reed as witten is my starter) worth look?

  7. Nick says:
    (link)

    Hey Malamoney, I have another question regarding my defense. I think playing ST Louis next week vs. Arizona is a good play with Stanton at QB & no RBs (ellington out). Then week 16 (fantasy championship), St Louis has the NYG ..so I can try and grab Detroit from waivers (playing @Chi) or other options which might be better for week 16 are;

    GB @ TB
    NE @ NYJ
    Cle @ Carolina
    SD @ SF

    would you drop Sanu (want to keep A Williams in case Jennings is not 100% in my playoffs) or J Reed for any of the defenses above to hold for week 16 if I make it to fantasy championship, here is my roster;

    QB- Rodgers
    WR- Cobb, Beckham, K Allen
    RB- D Murray, R Jennings
    flex- Ingram
    TE-Witten
    Bench- A Williams, M Bryant, R Mathews, L Murray, Sanu, J Reed

    • Nick says:
      (link)

@Nick: scratch NE, open waivers, people are snipping :(

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Nick: I have been holding NE for week 16 in both of my leagues

      • Nick says:
        (link)

@malamoney: NE is gone who next stick with stl or go detroit or one of other options

        • malamoney

          malamoney says:

@Nick: Tough to give up on STL now…

Which rb to add after Ellington injury kerwynn wiiliamms, Matt asiata, Pierre Thomas, Carlos Hyde

    • Dom B says:

      In order

      • malamoney

        malamoney says:
        (link)

@Dom B: Flip a coin. I really need to see another game out of Kerwynn. I guess I’d say Thomas, Asiata, Williams and Hyde, but if you are relying on any of these guys at this point in the season then you are in bad shape.

  9. Nick says:
    (link)

    Hi Malamoney, week 15, standard league. I need a WR3 & a flex, options include;

    1) R Jennings vs Washington
    2) A Williams vs Washington
    3) L Murray @ KC
    4) R Mathews v Denver
    5) M Bryant @ ATL
    6) K Allen v. Denver

    TE options;
    1) Witten @ Philly
    2) Reed @ NYG

Let me know if the choices are close (or include the NYG injured backfield) therefore checking back after injury reports is advised

    • malamoney

      malamoney says:
      (link)

@Nick: If I had to decide today I would probably go with Bryant and Allen. If Jennings was 100% I’d go with him and Allen. If Jennings is out, I’d go with Williams and Allen. Need to know more about Jennings situation before making a final decision.

      • malamoney

        malamoney says:
        (link)

@malamoney: Any if you are relying on these players at this point in the season, I’d have to say you are likely in trouble…

        • Nick says:
          (link)

          @malamoney: Well those are my WR3 & flex options. going into the playoffs here is my roster (you might change your mind);

          QB-Rodgers
          RB-D Murray & Ingram
          WR-Cobb, Beckham & either M bryant or K Allen
          TE-Witten or Reed
          D-STL
          K-Tucker

Still think I’ in trouble? I clinched #1 seed & now its playoff time! So you think K Allen for sure at WR3 over M Bryant?
& then at flex, one of the NYG RBs based on inury report?

          THANKS!
