Two Monday night games sounds great in theory until I look up and it’s 9 o’clock at night and my stomach hurts from overeating take out (there’s no time to cook when you have 6 hours of football ahead of you) and I still have an article to write. Was the mediocre at best football worth it? Yes. Yes it was. Another question that I am currently asking myself is how a fantasy football analyst like myself can be so bad at prop bets? Nothing seemed like more of a lock to me than Patrick Mahomes getting 3 touchdowns or Stefon Diggs getting 80 receiving yards. But it was CEH night and Diggs was held or interfered with on a couple of opportunities to make big plays. It is what it is.

Last week was a little weird for the trade market with a Tuesday night football game. We are back to a normal schedule this week and have a Thursday night football game as well. Giants and Eagles! Woo Hoo! If you are unaware when your trade deadline is, that might be something that you want to look in to. Here are a few buys and a sell to look into as we are near the halfway point of the fantasy football season.

Stealin’

Josh Allen

Monday was the 2nd game in a row that Allen didn’t live up to the billing from his first handful of games. There were some things that I liked though. There were more designed runs in the playbook for Allen this week because the weather wasn’t the greatest. A thing to keep in mind is that as the season goes on in Buffalo, the weather will play more and more of a factor. Josh Allen is no stranger to these conditions and on days that the passing game isn’t ideal he will be able to pick up fantasy points on the ground. Allen should be underpriced right now and the Jets, Patriots, and Seattle are all coming up on the schedule.

Marquise Brown

Marquise Brown has A.J. Brown potential meaning that he is going to have those two touchdown weeks. He is a regular focal point of this offense, but outside of week 5, it hasn’t translated to a WR1 day. Brown has had at least 6 targets in every game. I think this week is a great buy low opportunity with Pittsburgh and Indy back to back on the Ravens’ schedule if you can afford a couple of weeks of expected low production. The Raven’s fantasy playoff schedule is Cleveland/Jaguars/Giants. If you make it to the playoffs, he could be a league winner.

Rob Gronkowski

Old man Gronk is starting to look a little bit like young man Gronk. The best price would have been last week after seeing his increase in volume against the Bears. Gronk looks like he still can provide value for a reasonable price though. He’s starting to look quicker and the years of chemistry built with Tom Brady are a huge advantage. More times than not, Mike Evans has looked like a decoy in Brady’s offense. But a decoy that’s a redzone weapon. Hopefully Chris Godwin can stay healthy, but this season has been kind of scary in that regard. More games like last Sunday are coming for Gronk and Brady if you are struggling for consistency at the tight end position.

Dealin’

Adam Thielen

Dealin’ Thielen, har har. Thielen has caught 5 touchdown passes over the past 4 games making him the sell high of all sell highs for me. The schedule does look pretty juicy coming up for the Vikings and I think that is a factor that can net you more fantasy capital on the trade market. There are two things that you can be confident in as a seller.

  1. The Vikings are not contenders and that makes them a wild card on how they’ll approach offense operations down the stretch. Any slight injury or tweak could be an excuse to hold Thielen out in the fantasy playoffs. It’s happened before with different players.
  2. Justin Jefferson is the real deal and could gradually see more and more of the target share like we saw on Sunday.

One thing you shouldn’t do is sell Thielen for a discounted price. You should be getting a player or package back that you believe is a difference maker for your roster.Â
