There was some stat floating around the internet that caught my eye, much like that YouTube video that explains in excruciating detail the sharpest tuna-cutting knife on David Attenborough’s Planet Earth. Now that I’ve lost you in 8 sub-clauses and some exciting tuna talk, I’ll reveal the stat: The Detroit Lions — yes, the Motor City Kitties — were the top-scoring team in the league and had only one win to show for it. Your fantasy teams squealed in delight as Jared Goff and Jamaal Williams — your pre-season all-stars, right? — racked up points and millions of bucks for DFS teams. This week, the Lions faced the Patriots, helmed by the esteemed backup to the backup Bailey Zappe. Shoulda been a slam dunk, right? Well, 161 ground yards by Rhamondre Stevenson later, the Lions got shut out, and Zappe got his first career win, a mere week after nearly felling the great ayahuasca plant that is Aaron Rodgers.

The Fantasy Football playoffs are fast-approaching. These next few waiver weeks are critical. Some managers have likely lost interest, but that doesn’t mean throw out $1 bids. It’s a good idea to investigate the fab of the other contending teams and adjust accordingly. Guessing another manager’s bids can be a fool’s errand, but you never know what you might learn along the way. If you want a player, pay up to get them. There is no use hoarding a huge fab budget; December is buying time.

I’ve been married for seven years now, but we’ve been together much longer. Through our relationship, I’ll often turn to her, look deep into her eyes and say, “You know those dogs from Homeward Bound are dead now right?” I get the death stare every time, but readers of Wright on Waivers I have a secret to tell you. I sort of love Homeward Bound. I believe this is the second time I have referenced it in my short time here at Razzball. The scene I like most (spoilers) is when Shadow comes over the hill and sees Peter after their long time apart. It gets me all misty. I mean who does not love a story of someone finally making their way back home. Our lead name in this week’s waiver article is a lot like Shadow. He still has a few journeys and walks ahead of him. It is just nice to see him taking his final trips in a familiar place. Welcome home Cam.

Welcome to Week 10, ladies and gentlemen.

We’ve reached a real impasse here over the halfway mark of the NFL season. Major stars are down, breakout players are rolling, and Mike White is a starting quarterback in the NFL. The draft wouldn’t be further behind us and our expectations have been subverted every step of the way. This is where winners are made and losers are born.

Tuesday’s gone with the wind. And we’re coming up hard on Sunday morning.

Anyway! The teams on bye this week are the Bears, Giants, Bengals, and Texans. See ya next week!

Here in the midwest, the first frosty mornings are now in the books. It is an ominous sign for midwesterners (like myself) that winter is right around the corner. Work needs to be done. Much like that fantasy league you are in. There is still time to turn things around in head-to-head games, but you will have to work at it. Always remember, you do not need a record better than the top team in your league, you merely need to sneak into those playoffs and push from there, so focus on the record of the team in 4th place. Everyone could use some weapons upgrades for the cold battles that lie ahead.

It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this.
