A couple of days ago we discussed Buddha’s fantasy football draft strategy while dropping the top 30 quarterbacks for 2022 fantasy football. I’ve spent the past couple of days studying ancient Tibetan texts for guidance on drafting fantasy tight ends. There was only one mention of a tight end in all of the Buddhist texts I scoured: “Darren Waller is a sexy man.” I know, not super helpful fantasy draft advice from Buddha here, but you have to admit, the spiritual master sure knew what he was talking about.

The truth is, philosophically, drafting a fantasy tight end is much like drafting a fantasy quarterback. We only need one on our roster (in most leagues) and there’s often a dark horse top-tier fantasy tight end who emerges during the season. Owning one of the top tight ends can be a real differentiator from our opponents come fantasy playoff time, but we don’t want to over-invest in a big man at the expense of our top-end running backs and wide receivers. There’s a key balance here, similar to the cost/benefit involved in drafting quarterbacks. If Kyle Pitts, Darren Waller, or George Kittle falls into our laps on draft day then let’s snatch them up. Otherwise, I like taking a flier on Noah Fant late; he still has the potential to finish the season in the top 3 fantasy tight ends, and if he busts there will always be options available via free agency (unless your league is extremely deep–in which case, roster two tight ends). Anyway, here’s the top 25 tight ends for 2022 fantasy football half PPR leagues:
