Player: Treylon Burks

Team: Tennessee Titans

Pick: 18th (1st Round)

On the latest episode of the Razzball Fantasy Football Podcast, Bobby LaMarco welcomes in Sky Guasco to discuss former Arkansas wide receiver Treylon Burks and what his potential fantasy value is as a rookie in Tennessee. To hear our full analysis, check out the YouTube video included with this article.

Treylon Burks was the sixth wide receiver taken in this year’s draft class but was the top wide receiver prospect on many draft boards pre-draft. He drew comparisons to former Titans receiver AJ Brown. Both played in the SEC and both dominated future NFL talent. Burks played against three 2022 Round 1 picks from the SEC – Pick 3 (Texans) Derek Stingley Jr. (LSU), Pick 23 (Bills) Kaiir Elam (FLA) and Pick 32 (Vikings) Lewis Cine (UGA). Wouldn’t you know it? During the first round of the NFL Draft, Brown got traded to the Eagles and the Titans pounced on his replacement with Burks. Burks and Brown have similar profiles, but Burks is two inches taller at 6’3”. They’re both a strong 225 lbs. Like Brown, Burks will need to rely on his aggressive style and winning contested catches more so than creating separation and using top-end speed. According to Player Profiler, his best comparable player is Jordy Nelson.

In 2019, as a rookie, Brown saw 84 targets which resulted in 52 receptions, 1,051 yards and nine touchdowns; good for WR21 in PPR and WR15 in ½ PPR formats. Brown was the No. 2 option behind Corey Davis, but ended the season with more targets and cumulative stats. Burks is entering 2022 as the Titans’ No. 1 option in the passing game. Of course, the offense runs through Derrick Henry, but when the Titans do throw, Burks should be the first look. Over the past three seasons, the Titans have run the ball on average 33 times per game which is the most in the NFL over that span. Conversely, they’ve only thrown 24.7 passes per game during that stretch which is tied with the 49ers for the second-fewest. Burks won’t see the volume you hope for in fantasy, but he can make up for it in big plays and scoring upside. I have Burks as my WR2 in this draft class behind only Drake London of the Atlanta Falcons. To hear our full analysis, check out the YouTube video above or listen to the podcast audio below.
