So here’s my final go in another Expert League. Scott Pianowski must really like my money the way I play this game as it’s the second league I’ll be in with hm. I covered the first one here. I drafted before the Baseball All-Star break with that one. You can tell by the post alone that I had more hair on my head and less frown wrinkles. For the most part, this league is similar in set up except that it’s a 12 teamer rather than a 14. I do also think there are some similar owners but, hey, that would require me to pay attention to other owners. Neverthewho, here’s results for my last draft for 2013 Fantasy Football…
What can I say? It happens to the best of us. I thought someone had already taken Greg Zuerlein from me. It was the end of the draft and I stream defenses anyways so I wasn’t payin THAT much attention. That said, I had the Colts in my queue for their week 1 matchup and almost threw up in my mouth a little when I realized I took Hauschka. Now who will I start at K this week?!? I should consult Piano…neverthewho! Don’t worry, we don’t have waivers until the season hits so I already picked up the Colts but I’m all about the truth, even when it hurts. I got guys I liked pretty much everywhere. Ok, not my ‘OMG, did you see that cute guy at his locker this morning? He looks delish!’ kinda ‘like’ but they’re likes nonetheless. Robert Griffin, III for $18? Yes please. Marshall for $33? Ok then. Roddy White for $20? Who am I drafting with here?!? I keed, it was a lot of good drafters, including the Piano-man himself. I even passed onto him the knowledge of what 4.20 meant in terms of birthdays. That joke went over well…but I digress, I like this one a lot for a 12 team, 4 bench play. There’s still plenty of useable talent on the FA pool so I’m sure I’ll be churning my bench if I need to. That said, I’m a bit surprised for a league that can start 4-5 RBs and 1-2 QBs I could land depth in both at minimal cost. Agree Weeden and Locker aren’t the sexiest plays but as your QB2? Not that bad. Admittedly, I made some mistakes. Cameron for $6 could’ve been Cook for $3. I didn’t realize I’d have had this much cash on hand by the end of the draft or my WR3 would’ve been Amendola ($19) or Garcon ($16). Not that I hate Givens but wouldn’t have minded if he were my WR4 given the results. Thanks, auctions, for making me question myself so much! Knowshon…if he is the starter, I’m golden. If he’s not, well I have plenty of FA plays in the sea and it gives me a chance to pick up another WR. I don’t need him, necessarily. When your bench is 4, even with a deep lineup like this, there’s usually a weekly play and considering there’s FAAB involved, I have a shot at them each week so I’m not overly concerned, especially when Montee Ball went for $14 and Moreno went for $4. I took the lesser chance there on romance, even though my date has major warts (not those kinds) and major knocks against them for fantasy purposes. Moreno had 3.8 YPC last year…tell that to Manning who could sleep soundly in his QB pocket with him in there blocking. Ah well, we will see how the season pans out but as I’ve already said, I’m not going Full Montee this year. Overall, I got a lot of accolades for getting SJax/MJD for a combined $56 and I promise you it wasn’t just me talking to myself. There was some heavy spending on RBs and that’s the one thing auction has over snake every day: you put your money where your mouth is. I don’t like paying $48 and above for any player in a 12 team and I don’t think any of the sexy RBs went for less then $44 in this draft (Foster went for $44; JC $45…that might hurt me later). Overall, I’m happy with the draft results. No word yet from Yahoo on my grade but I’ll just guess ‘D’ and be closer to right then I am wrong with how these have gone so far…
