This would be the place where you will find week 1 rankings for wide receivers.  TE/D/K will be out shortly or longly, but they will be out.  This is my first season of doing rankings like this, so it has been a learning experience.  I could spend days tweaking them, but there is football tomorrow!!! Can you believe it?  It has been approximately 3 and a half years since the last NFL game was played.

    Doc,

    I really think TO may have a breakout season this year with ocho and other weapons around him.. I have TO, Steve Smith( Car), Crabtree, and johnny knox… do you think TO should get the bench then?

  3. Doc

    @Trevor: Pretty tough week. I’d say Tennessee, but I do like the Raiders this season.

    @Jim: I do. I’m not discounting his ability to have a good season, but I do like those others more this week.

    I am starting Malcom Floyd and B-Twice (Berrian) over Greg Jennings and the original Steve Smith. While that seems crazy, my reasoning is that Floyd has a great matchup, and Berrian could break one off in what could be a shootout (but mainly because I want a player in Thursday’s game haha). I also feel that Jennings has a bad matchup lined up against Asante Samuel. As my attorney, what do you advise?

  5. Lou says:

    i think you got some matchups mixed up. specifically Pittsburgh

  6. genghis chone says:

    PPR, 25 points per punt/kick return yard league, we start 2 RBs, 2 WRs and an RB/WR. I’ve got AJ, Percy Harvin, Jamaal Charles, Jahvid Best and Matt Forte starting, while Jabar Gaffney, Hakeem Nicks and Johnny Knox ride the pine. Does this seem like the right call?

  7. genghis chone says:

    Sorry, I meant a point for every 25 return yards

    @Lou: Thanks.

    @Asdrubal Bastardo: The Original Steve Smith is a Giant Killer. I like him a lot. I can sometimes buck the “start your studs” rule, but i don’t trust Floyd and BB enough.

    @genghis chone: looks good

    Is Boldin’s drop to 35 all Revis, or is there something else there you don’t like?

    @Asdrubal Bastardo: @Doc: I have reported Doc for practicing law without a license. I don’t show up at your work and tell you how to rank make-believe football players . . . wait, I do all the time. Well in that case, needs more Dez Bryant.

    Hey Doc. Do I start Colston’s Kidneys over Witten in a WR/TE – PPR1 ?

  15. Isles Guru says:

    Doc,

    Is it suicide to play Smith AND Nicks? I am between Sims-Walker and Nicks. You got Nicks as the better play but is it dopey to play 2 receivers from the same team?

  16. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

    @sal: That makes it closer, but I have a good feeling about Knox and Ward has Dixon.

    @Isles Guru: As long as it’s not PPR I’d go with Sims Walker/Nicks. Just gives you a better ceiling.

  17. p0rk burn says:
    (link)

    @Doc: MORE Dez Bryant. Not some. I haven’t seen this kind of one-upmanship since Mario made Luigi the second player. I’m going back to Matty Berry, he never makes fun of my droopy eyes.

  18. Doc

    Doc says:

    @p0rk burn: It will be okay. You’ll get your Dez-ire soon enough.

    Actually the league is PPR so I have to play 2 of these WRS: Smith (NYG), Sims-Walker, and Nicks

    Hey Doc, I have a flex question, need one from this group:
    Wells, Hightower, Barber, TO

    Beanie’s injury has me thinking HT.
    I know you’re low on TO, but I think he’s going to torch that weak NE secondary. Especially given the opponent (starting a rookie and a 2nd year CB), I think TO should be 15 spots higher in your WR rankings.

    I guess I narrowed it down to 2, then?

    Hey doc,

    In a ppr I have s smith (giants) Chris cooley and mike Williams Seattle and I need a flex who do I go with

    Sup Doc, I have major concerns at WR, please help! Which 2 of these receivers do I start:
    Lauren Robinson – Jacoby Jones – Devin Hester –Derrick Mason or Mike X Williams..

    Thanks for your Help!

  23. Doc

    Doc says:
    (link)

    @Isles Guru: Hmm, I’d probably just lean Smith and Nicks then.

    @AB: Hah, I think it does! It really depends on if Wells practices. I’m going with Wells if he practices fully, Hightower if not.

    @snake: Smith

    @Drunken Wolverine: That is a dilemma. Jones/Hester

    i think i’m developing an irrational fantasy crush on Julian Edelman…….

    i dont see a whole lot of weapons for Brady beyond his top two WR’s…….

    anyway,I’m trying to talk myself into/out of picking up Austin Collie,but I’d have to drop either Edelman or Chris Chambers….

  25. 24hourjack says:
    (link)

    one more question, Doc……

    i have Donald Driver in my flex spot, as opposed to Thomas Jones(or Dez Bryant or Chambers or Edelman)…….

    SD was near the bottom against the run last yr,and Merriman is likely out against KC,and so……..

    Jones or Driver?………

  26. craig says:

    In ppr league, johnny knox or mcfadden?

  27. Doc

    Doc says:

    @24hourjack: I think you are ok with keeping Edelmen. I agree he has good upside.

    @24hourjack: Jones

    @craig: If Bush doesn’t go, McFad

    Driver is the receiving elder/leader for the packers. I’d pick him over Jennings even, and especially Jones, since Driver usually gets all the tough catches up the middle, gets nailed and holds the ball. Usually he’s always a goto in a pinch as well.

    Yea, not glamorous, and not statistically great (hence why Jennings is ranked higher — he is young with speed), but that’s more pertinent this week, since the Eagles have a tough secondary and the Packers will be going for short passes in the middle and hoping Driver can turn yards after the catch — which he is the best at doing on the team.
