It’s playoff week! Did you make it? We’ve battled through NFL games without QBs. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday football. A starting QB that had tight end eligibility, but then he lost his tight end eligibility the very next week. But you made it, let’s get you that trophy!
I want to let you in on a quick note before we get to the rankings. 2020 is going to be my last season with Razzball. It has been an absolute honor to write for this site and hopefully do my part to help it grow and help out readers. I remember when I first got into fantasy football twitter there was this dude named Tehol who had an article that popped up on my feed. Razzball? Wtf is Razzball? In this post, he talked about walking in on some random football player putting his girlfriend in the Boston Crab. I hadn’t giggled that hard in a while. I was hooked. From there, I found Grey and wow… My mind was blown. I thought Tehol was funny, but this was next level. And he wrote every day.
As luck may have it, a guy named Mike Honcho moved on from the site we were writing at and referred me to Razzball. Me? At Razzball? I wasn’t funny and I still am not to this very day. My wife and kid love to remind me regularly of this. So I sent a sample to Jay and boom I was writing streamers for the 2015 or 2016 season, I can’t remember. I’ve been here for a while, haha. I saw that Jay was talking about Game of Thrones on the Razzball Football podcast. This was my chance to get noticed, to be a part of the cool kids. Jay, being the amazing and thoughtful dude that he is let me on the round table conversation to talk about Thrones with them. And then the next week and the next week. Pretty soon, I was on the regular list and Jay saw something in me. He was needing to take a step back and wanted ME to help him run the football side of the site.
I made it. I was going to help run the site that showed me that fantasy sports content doesn’t have to be corporate bullshit. Little did I know how big of an impact this site would have on my life. I have developed life long friendships with some real OGs of this site. People that I talk to almost every day. Viz, Son, Reid, Zach, Boof. These are guys that I’ll talk to long after this season is over. Also Rudy Gamble. What a fantastic guy. Any time I ever needed anything he was always there. We had a podcast together, I think it was in 2018. It didn’t pop like I thought it was going to but I looked forward to talking to him every week. Few people crack me up the way that he can with his one liners. He’s a genius, and he cares about our product and all of us. And of course Grey. He is an absolute legend. Grey is as awesome of a person as he is a writer. I was so dumb with some stuff that goes along with editing and he was always patient with me. Long after I’m gone from Razzball, I’ll still shoot him a random text when I hear a great album.
As for why I’m leaving, I’ve lost my love for the grind. And trust me, it is a grind. I have a full time job, a family, other hobbies, so on, so forth. I accomplished what I wanted to with this hobby and I don’t look forward to it as much anymore. And it would be unfair to people who have done so much for me to continue when I’m not all the way in. There is so much talent at this website. Donkey Teeth is really building something special. DT is a great guy and is building a hell of a team for the present and future. Plus he enjoys making videos and podcasts and I hate that shit.
And most importantly, you, the reader. I have always looked forward to the comment section. Everyone has always been so nice, which I do not deserve. Anytime I made a mistake, which was a lot, you would point it out with grace and I always appreciated that. I’ll always be proud that you all chose me to help you with your lineups and trades. I remember and won’t soon forget last season when my kid had a medical emergency and you all were really kind and wished us well. Thank you for making this a great and unforgettable experience in this super short thing that we call life. It’s time for me to just ENJOY playing fantasy football next year and hopefully I find that spark again.
