With the arrival of Week 5, so too come the bye weeks. This week, your beloved fantasy team players from the Browns, Chargers, Seahawks, and Buccaneers will not be around to help you out. But have no fear, fellow fantasy team managers, Alvin Kamara will! As of this writing, I have him ranked as RB3 this week, a full 10 spots ahead of FantasyPros’ Expert Consensus Ranking. Why? Touches.
Sure, Alvin Kamara’s 8.1 points in standard scoring last week upon his return from suspension didn’t blow anyone’s socks off… but thanks to 13 receptions on 14 targets, his score in PPR and Half-PPR leagues (21.1 and 14.6) was a much bigger deal. The average yardage was low, but the Saints should have an easier time moving the ball and finding paydirt, against the Patriots than they did against the Buccaneers.
Touches and targets matter, and Alvin Kamara led the league in targets last week (tied with the Jets’ Garrett Wilson) and led the Saints in carries with 11. The rest of the team totaled eight. With all that opportunity and Kamara’s well-known talent, the yards and the scores are an inevitability.
As for other players to turn to if you normally rely on some bye week absentees like Justin Herbert, Kenneth Walker III, DK Metcalf, or, I don’t know, Donovan Peoples-Jones (?), check out the rankings below. These will be updated several times this week, including Sunday morning.
