And another one… These injuries man, do they ever stop? Can we go a week this season without a slew of catastrophic injuries that impact all of our teams? This week, the Gods of Football claimed Patriots star receiver and JCC flag football legend Julian Edelman. As if it wasn’t bad enough that Dion Lewis was stripped from all our lives last week, this week we lose a top-5 PPR asset. You know the old expression; the Giants defense giveth and the Giants defense taketh away. At this point, we should all be pretty familiar with the immediate pickup in the wake of OG King Julian’s injury. It’s old pal and wavier wire Week 7 darling Danny Amendola. Now, when Danny isn’t rocking suits with no belt (ever heard of a tailor?), he’s acting as the second receiver in the Patriots machine of an offense. Just 30% owned in Yahoo leagues (and an even lower 21% on ESPN), Amendola should be your top priority add this week. I’d expect WR2 numbers from ole’ Danny from here on out. This is going to be one of your few plug and play adds heading into the playoffs, so claim away.

Quarterbacks

Brian Hoyer (Yahoo 17% – ESPN 18.3%) – “Okay Ralphie what are you sipping on?” That’s you after seeing that I’m advocating a buy for a QB facing the Jets. While yes, it tis true that I’m an advocate for Hoyer, it has zero to do with this week, and everything to do with a week 12 matchup with the Saints porous defense. Not only does Tom Brady’s former understudy get a cushy date with the Saints in week 12, it’s followed by three more dates with AFC South defenses. Hoyer has top 12 QB potential ROS. But hey what do I know? I only told you to drop Peyton Manning and pick Hoyer up in week 7. So basically between Hoyer and Amendola I’m re-publishing my post from that week.

Brock Osweiler (Yahoo 1% – ESPN .3%) – Let’s just get this out of the way, he’s 6’8. No matter what you’ve read about the 4th year pro in the past two days, it’s a given that his height was mentioned. So there you go I gave you a height reference. What you’ve possibly also heard is that he’s got a big arm (literally! I mean he’s 6’8) and the ability to scramble. Both assets that are a perfect potential fit in Gary Kubiak’s system, which is bootleg heavy. Well at least it was until a hobbled Peyton Manning was his starting QB. So in theory Osweiler is a better fit for Denver’s offensive system than Manning. In fact, there are even some conspiracy theories floating around in cyber-space that Manning’s injury is a farce and really an elaborate ruse to not embarrass the all-time great. That’s neither here nor there…. Don’t be shocked if Denver’s offense gets a boost from Osweiler, turnover permitting. I mean it can’t get much worse, can it?

Running Backs

Jay Ajayi (Yahoo 18% – ESPN 9%) – Just when Lamar Miller gets going, and all his owners, me included, start to trust him, does another potential touch-suck emerge. The thing is Ajayi is not your typical touch-suck (see Williams, Andre), because though he dropped to the 5th round in this year’s draft, he had a stellar career at Bosie State. In fact many said coming into the season that Ajayi was a great sleeper pick in deep dynasty formats, and I would say they’re correct. Now bursting onto the 12 team re-draft radar, Ajayi looks like a true threat in the running game. Don’t be shocked if the rook starts to get a big chunk of Lamar Miller’s running downs and goal-line work. In fact if Miller goes down Ajayi bursts into the RB1 convo.

James White (Yahoo 39% – ESPN 36.8%) – Welp looks like last week’s question has been answered. It’s White that will take over passing back duties. as his snaps were almost triple Brandon Bolden’s. Don’t be surprised if White emerges from the shadows this week against the Bills. I mean someone’s got to catch the ball, no?

Tim Hightower (Yahoo 0%- ESPN 0%) – WTF?!? Wait Tim Hightower is alive? Didn’t this dude lose his job to Beanie Wells once upon a time? Yup, he also out touched Mark Ingram this week for the Saints. As I said a few weeks ago following Khiry Robinson’s injury. Someone’s going to get his touches but it won’t be Ingram. I’m not sure I’d go as far as picking up Hightower, but unlike last week I, A) know he’s alive B) Know he could factor into the mix in the Saints backfield.

Wide Receivers

Jamison Crowder (Yahoo 9% – ESPN 9.3%) – That’s Crowdah, Crowdah, I’ll kill you!!!! I’ll kill all of you!!!! Don’t know what I’m talking about? Laugh now and google later, that’s my motto. Actually I google at least 9-10 Grey comments/jokes a month, because I’m sheltered, and learning is fun. As for Crowder or as my family and friends call him Crowdah, he’s been emerging from the shadows of Washington’s passing game. BTW the RedSticks offense is a rather shadowy place, sort of like the red light district on the dark-side of the moon shadowy. But nevertheless, Crowder has seen 5 targets or more dating back 7 weeks, and at this point would you rather own Crowder or the ever so popular Pierre Garcon. For me the answer is easy….TOAST!

Dorial Green-Beckham (Yahoo 26% – ESPN 19.5%) – With Justin Hunter out for the season, and not a whole lot of good coming out of Nashville it should be time for the love child of A.J. Green and Odell Beckham Jr. to emerge. I mean, with parents like that who wouldn’t want to own this guy. But seriously, the man is a beast, freak, god, whatever term you like. He needs to be let loose on the league, and use these last few games as a time to nurture a potentially fruitful relationship with Marcus Mariota. Then again, Marcus might not want DGB on the field after his awful route running Sunday cost the rookie QB a turnover.

Davante Adams (Yahoo 81% – ESPN 71.5%) – Okay, well he’s not really a wavier wire pickup, sort of, well…. because he’s owned in a ton of places, but I need to share. Can I share? I loathe this guy. I mean he’s probably a solid dude, I don’t think he’s robbing grannies or eating all the red jelly beans or anything, but he sort of……sucks. I mean he had 21 targets on sunday…TWENTY ONE!!! And he finished the game with 10 catches for 79 yards and no scores. He also dropped a crucial 2 point conversion. Use anyone else, anyone.

Just wanted to let everyone know, that after today’s post I’m going to be taking a sabbatical for a little bit. While I try and find myself on a journey of self growth in the Himalayas. I will be burning sage and asking the big questions like, “Why do people still ask why Tim Tebow isn’t in the league” and “Why does everyone irrationally hate Cam Newton and love Aaron Rodgers?”. I promise to return with those answers and a renewed sense of self. But honestly, I’m 33 years old, my third child was born in September and there’s just a lot of things that need my attention. Thanks for reading all of my non-sense here, on Razzball Soccer, and over on the baseball side… I think I’ll be back, before you even notice I left.

how do you rank romo vs bortles this week and rest of season?

    thank you

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

@shookones: I like Romo rest of season. Bortles floor seems far lower due to his propensity to turn the ball over

  2. Operation Mindcrime says:

    Thoughts on this trade.

Team is 7-3, league .5 PPR
QB: Stafford (with Luck in IR spot)
    RB: Doug Martin, Ivory
WR: Hopkins, Mike Evans, Snead, Aiken, Garcon (whose gonna be dropped)
TE: Barnidge, Ebron (bye-week filler for Barnidge)

Just traded Jeremy Hill, Forsett, and Ryan Mathews for Demaryius. Yds and targets are there and hopefully regress to finishing year with 5 or 6 TDs.

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Operation Mindcrime: You’re pretty weak at RB now if either of those two go down. On the flip side your WR situation is great. I’m wondering if Demaryius breaks out with Brock. Finally someone with the arm strength to hit him in stride downfield.

  3. Operation Mindcrime says:
    (link)

    Have John Brown as well

  4. Teddy Heater says:
    (link)

    Love the Hoyer call. I grabbed him everywhere he was available on Sunday after Cousins killed it for me. I’m lining up playoff weeks, I got Hoyer for next week and I’m putting a claim for Tannehill as he has 2 cushy home matchups for week 13 & 14 v Bal & v NYG. My question is do I drop Ajayi or White? 12 team PPR & here’s the current squad;

    Palmer
    ODB
    Demaryius
    Landry
    Gurley
    Ingram
    Ebron
    Diggs
Bench: Bortles, Hoyer, Matt Jones, White, Ajayi, Amendola

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

@Teddy Heater: White is the drop, Ajayi’s upside is greater

    12 Team 1 Point PPR

QB’s for the rest of the way?

    Mariota
    Fitzy
    Stafford
    Hoyer

Geez that’s a gross list, but yea your thoughts please. Top 2 or placement order is fine.

    Thank you!

@Duck Butta: Stafford for this week, and Hoyer ROS

  6. Jake from State Farm says:

Howdy man based on my team would you look to send either demaryius or Calvin Johnson for Chris Ivory?

    It’s .5 ppr

My RBs are hill, Lamar miller, charcanderick west and Alfred blue.

My WRs are Demaryius, alshon, megatron, lafell, amendola, diggs, john brown

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

@Jake from State Farm: First things first, What are you wearing Jake from “State Farm”?

I’d offer either one, I prefer dealing Demaryius.

  7. Scott says:
    (link)

So basically between Hoyer and Amendola …

sums up my dilemma. I picked up Hoyer yesterday before the game as a preemptive strike on week 11. I already have CAAAAMM.

So who do I drop for Danny-man? My 2nd QB, Hoyer, My 5th RB, Duke Johnson, or my 4th WR, DGB?

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

      @Scott: I say DGB, Danny is a huge upgrade….

      Danny gon eat kid!!!!

  8. Steve Stevenson says:
    (link)

0.5 PPR, I am in solid shape to make the playoffs and have room for 3 of the following on the end of my bench:

Lacy, Matt Jones, D. Cobb, T. Coleman (I am a Freeman owner), DGB

My flex is typically between Forsett and Maclin, with the other riding the bench along with some of the above. Which 3 would you hold going forward?

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

      @Steve Stevenson: Lacy, Jones, Coleman.

Maclin isn’t part of the equation right? If he is then drop Jones from the afformentioned group and replace with Burt Maclin…..FBI

      • Steve Stevenson says:
        (link)

@Ralph Lifshitz: No, Maclin not part of the equation. Just showing you who my next WR above DGB is and how far away he is from starting. Thanks.

  9. shookones says:
    (link)

hey I think you missed me above.. wondering what you think about romo vs bortles this week and ROS?

also. now that we can finally drop that bum Christine Michael, would you drop him for a playoff D/st or Vernon davis on the off chance he becomes something in that mess of an offense. currently own martellus.

    thank you

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

@shookones: Yeah Christine Michael’s career is over

  10. Scooter G says:

    Hey there

I have clinched the playoffs and a first round bye in my league so I am basically just prepping for weeks 15 and 16. Which 2 wr and RB would you most want to have on your team to start for week 15 & 16

Diggs @ sd and vs nyg
Landry @ sd and vs Ind
A Robinson vs atl and @ NO
Cooper vs GB and vs SD

Forte @ min and @ TB
DMC vs nyj and @ Buf
Forsett vs kc and vs pit
L Murray vs GB and vs SD

Appreciate the help. Enjoy your time off!

@Scooter G: Robinson, Cooper, and Murray

  11. Deck says:
    (link)

Was crushed by injuries at RB and it has left me in a tough spot. Have to win the next three to get into the playoffs. 12 team .33 ppr (1Q, 2R, 2W, 1F, 1T) :

    QB Streaming (Stafford)
RB Langford, Hillman, M Jones, Sims, Cobb
WR Alshon, Marshall, Martavis, Amendola(Picked up Sat before games), DBG
    TE Gronk, Ebron
    D Streamer (Raiders)
    K Crosby

The question: Trade Marshall for Latavius?
The follow up: His RB are DeAngelo, Murray, Gore, Blount. Should I counter with something different. We are at deal closing stage, so don’t want to make an insulting offer.

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Deck: I’d prefer Blount and Williams to Murray. Unless it’s a keeper format.

  12. woody says:

    12 team ppr
I have Russell Wilson and tyrod taylor which 1 would be the safer person to drop for Romo.

Also Vincent Jackson and carlos hyde are on waivers are either worth getting or do I take a chance on the rookie jay ajayi.

my wr are Julio, Dez, Decker, Watkins, Maclin

my rb ARE Sims, Theo, k,williams, R,matthews, Duke Johnson

I was a foster owner now I have a team full of handcuffs and nobody wants to trade

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@woody: Here’s what I’d do, drop Tyrod for Romo.

It’s PPR so all of your backs are probably better ROS than Hyde.

  13. miles proudfoot says:
    (link)

Hey man, thanks for the post. Need to drop Vernon davis for a rb due to the bye week for all my rb’s. Would you go for Matt Jones, Charles Sims, theo riddick or jay ajayai? Thanks!

and i have josh brown on a bye too. is he worth a hold? or can i just drop him for another kicker.

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

@mak: I’d go Ebron and drop Andrews

  17. Money Mike says:
    (link)

Hey Ralph good write up! Some Pats obsessed fan drafted Amendola this year but I was able to snag Lafell. I need 2 WRs for this week, really having trouble trusting Cobb right now but need your opinion. PPR league: WRs are T.Y. Hilton (meh QB), Cobb, Lafell, Watkins, Aiken.

Also any of them worth starting over Delanie Walker at FLEX? Thanks man!

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Money Mike: I’d start anyone of them over Walker.

Probably go Hilton, Cobb, Aiken, Lafell, and then Watkins

  18. Crapshoot Kershaw says:
    (link)

i was on your side of the hoyer vs forehead thing somewhat, and showed Malamoney how silly his claim at the time was that Peyton (who at the time was somewhere in the 28th-32nd QB per game) would end year with QB 15 or better numbers, and it had nothing to do with assuming any injuries to come either. When you’ve dug a 6 out of 16 game hole being that bad per game, Peyton would’ve had to both stay healthy and produce anywhere from 60%-100% increase in production over his remaining at the time 10 games to get to QB 15.

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Crapshoot Kershaw: Yeah the offensive scheme was a bad fit, Manning’s arm strength, and general durability were all obvious at that point.

  19. Crapshoot Kershaw says:
    (link)

if Peyton didn’t want to embarass himself anymore he doesn’t need any injury, it’s been happening all damn year.

    • Crapshoot Kershaw says:
      (link)

@Crapshoot Kershaw: if anybody watched last year’s playoffs it was happening then too.

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Crapshoot Kershaw: Yeah I think the Broncos let him break the record and had seen enough. If Brock looks good why would they go back to Manning? Sentimental reasons?

  20. Mike Hunt's Honorable Discharge says:
    (link)

who hates cam newton? (if this is some trending topic on news sites i don’t really use those). he’s like a young, black, more athletic version of roethilsberger with less motorcycle stories and rape allegations (as far as i know). good luck fixing up whatever needs to be fixed up. I know if i had my FIRST human offspring in September i wouldn’t be here now (or really past September)

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Mike Hunt’s Honorable Discharge: Yeah, it’s been going on since he was at Auburn, he’s not well liked. I don’t know if you saw the whole issue with the TD dance against the Titans this week but it became an issue.

Nothing needs fixing, just need some more time to focus on family and career. Between the three sites I’ve written 300 posts in 18 months.

  21. Jake says:
    (link)

Do you have a problem starting two WR from the same team. I have Lafell and Amendolla and am strongly considering firing both in a league that I am suffering a few losses. I also have a QB question I have been sticking with Matt Ryan and he has been killing my team for a while would you drop him for Hoyer or Cutler going forward ? I was thinking that maybe since Ryan is coming off a bye maybe they corrected their issues and that I should give him 1 last chance to redeem himself.

    Thanks

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Jake: Yeah sure why not go for it. The volume should be there this week.

I would start Ryan this week, I’m not real crazy about the Jets matchup for Hoyer and I wouldn’t play Cutler against Denver.

  22. Comatose says:
    (link)

Does Shaun Draughn have any value, considering the two difficult matchups he is facing?

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Comatose: He only has value because he’s a starting RB, I’d only play him at the flex if I really had no other options.

  23. Hoss says:
    (link)

Looking to add a potential keeper for next season. Are there any RB’s or WR’s not currently owned that could have a high draft stock next season?

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Hoss: Ajayi, David Johnson, David Cobb, Coleman at RB

DGB, DeVante Parker, Philip Dorsett, Breshad Perriman at WR

Tougher to play this game than in years past, it seems like the guys that will excel at this level are doing it right away. Very few marinate anymore.

  24. Nick says:
    (link)

First question, QB for this week, do you like Tyrod vs. NE (I get the feeling he will not duplicate his 28 pt effort from last matchup vs. Pats) or Marcus Mariota @ the Jags?

Second, I need a WR3 & a flex from the following; Davante Adams, Stevie Johnson, Jordan Matthews, Martellus Bennett, Desean Jackson or Joique Bell?

Lastly, with Luck out, do you still plug in Ty Hilton at WR2 over all the options mentioned above?

Thanks & good luck on your little sabbatical!

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

      @Nick: 1. Mariota @ Jags
      2. Matthews and Bell
      3. Yes, for sure. Hilton really needs one long catch and he’s worth it. Hasselbeck isn’t awful and he’s had a couple of weeks to get on the same page.

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

      @Lex: Amendola.

Did you make that Ingram and Cobb for Cooper, Cooks, and Hillman trade?

      • Lex says:
        (link)

@Ralph Lifshitz: no I didnt…I’m kinda regretting it cause of cooks lighting it up…but Hillman is not an upgrade over Ingram….I’m kinda hoping amendola balls out and saves my season in that flex spot

        • Ralph Lifshitz

          Ralph Lifshitz says:
          (link)

@Lex: Was this week, Ingram is overrated and Cobb sort of sucks. Hopefully Amendola helps. A Cooks and Cooper combo would have been nice

      • Lex says:
        (link)

@Ralph Lifshitz: I’m trying to get Reed right now him and the Chiefs D for Lafell and cobb

  27. Lex says:

      @Lex: I like Gates

    Ralph,

What are your thoughts on any potential NE wideouts emerging to be valuable in a deep PPR league? Martin, Dobson, Harper, Slater? Can you see any of these guys making a difference at all? Dobson was pretty talented coming into the league, it is surprising that he has basically been a non-factor so far.

Amendola was already owned, just looking for a possible stash worthy option.

    Thanks, man!

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@OldMilwaukeePounders: We’ll see the prognosis isn’t good, New England of all places will play you if you deserve playing time, none of those guys have earned it. If I had to have a dog in the race it would be martin then Dobson. The latter has had a ton of chances to show and prove and hasn’t. Maybe Martin has something. Slater is a stud special teamer, they’d rather not use him on offense outside fly routes in 5 wide sets.

      • OldMilwaukeePounders says:
        (link)

@Ralph Lifshitz: Thanks, Ralph. It sounds like a bad idea to invest in any of that mess. More of a wait and see type situation, I suppose.
