Why can’t Chiefs fans have anything nice? First they get broken down Joe Montana and Marcus Allen, then they lose Derrick Thomas, and now this? How much can one fanbase take? Oh, sit down Dog Pound, no one wants to hear your stupid story. What did the good folks of Kansas City ever do to you football gods? All these people do is give! They give us delicious BBQ and unrelenting support to their local NFL chapter. How do we repay them for their altruism? Pain lots and lots of pain. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, welcome back from your coma. We’re now all slaves to alien masters that resemble Andy Dick…. Oh and Jamaal Charles’ knee caved like the French in WWII! As for the latter we’re all left to pickup the pieces as Charles owners. This my loyal Razzscallions is why I present to you…

**The Jamaal Charles Injury Special Alert/#reminder2putinaclaim/#longhashtagsrule/#Tipa40forJamaal**

Charcandrick West (Yahoo 12% ESPN .3%) – The early word is that, soon to be Key and Peele East vs. West favorite, Charcandrick West is sliding into the starting job. It’s totally reasonable to know zero about the second year back from Abilene Christian. Mostly because he’s a second year back that was undrafted out Abilene Freaking Christian! Word on the street is that West is a freak athlete with a great set of wheels. But shoooot see for yourself, here’s a highlight video from college. I wouldn’t jump to any lofty conclusions from it though. After all everyone in the pros has a highlight video from college. Jamarcus Russell has a highlight video from college! Eddie the intern at my company has a highlight video from college!! You get the point… Here’s what we do know, with Charles down he’s rumored to be getting the lionshare of touches in the KC backfield. In one league with no waivers, I added both West and Knile Davis minutes after the injury. I’m going to give it a week to let it shake out, and I would suggest putting waiver claims in for both. Charcandrick gets the priority with Davis there as a handcuff/consolation prize depending on how your waiver position looks.

Knile Davis (Yahoo 15% ESPN 23.5%) – Are people really supposed to buy into an undrafted FCS guy, over someone who’s shown he can be a useful player in Charles’ absence? I think West is your first priority, but I’d make Davis your second. If you can own both, do it. My hunch is Davis cements himself as the starter within a week or two.

Quarterbacks

Blake Bortles (Yahoo 25% ESPN 27.5%) – I may have featured him in an earlier post, but I’m too lazy to look back and check. Sometimes I like to boil these blurbs down to a single question. “Would you rather have Bortles or Peyton Manning?”… It’s all so clear now.

Josh McCown (Yahoo 7% ESPN 4%) – I’m the guy that suggests a low ceiling QB a week late. Then again, that was a rather high ceiling on Sunday, no? If you’re in a 14 team or larger, are starting Peyton Manning still, or got caught up with Wedeen on the bye week (joking) put in a claim for this Brown dookie. He’ll never touch the heights he did in Week 5 again, but I have a feeling he’ll see a solid amount of attempts going forward. He’s a little banged up but he probably needs to ice his arm after Sunday. Browns fans be like, “Johnny what? Johnny who?”

Running Backs

Theo Riddick (Yahoo 6% ESPN 15.2%) – A small fox showed up at my doorstep yesterday and told me that Riddick was the most reliable back in Detroit. At first I disagreed, but you know what? That Fox is right…. Theo saw 13 targets in the passing game and the role of safety valve is the only one with any value in the D at the moment.

Javorius “Buck” Allen (Yahoo 1% ESPN 1.5%) – In Yahoo he’s listed as Javorius, but you probably know him as Buck. Allen is a must add for all Forsett owners, with the running back’s status for next week still up in the air. Word from Ravens camp is that Forsett will be active, but things change quick, and flare ups happen. If by chance Forsett is inactive expect Lorenzo Taliaferro to split the carries with Allen, and pouch the goal line work. Allen is a long shot play in my opinion.

Wide Receiver

Brandon LaFell (Yahoo 29% ESPN 14.7%) – Another weapon is likely to be added to Tom Brady’s arsenal next week. As last year’s number two receiver is due back from the PUP list in week 7. I’d put in a claim this week to stash him and expect a boom or bust WR3/Flex in 12 team leagues. With the way the Pats are currently airing it out, you have to love the potential of a true home run threat like LaFell.

Jamison Crowder (Yahoo 5% ESPN 4.7%) – The slot receiver has 21 catches on 26 targets over the past three games. With both Jordan Reed and DeSean Jackson out Crowder has value. This week’s matchup with the Jets looks a bit daunting, but in deeper PPR leagues he could have some value as a bye week fill in.

Tight End

The Raiders are on a bye no Tight Ends to pickup this week. Oh yeah, and ignore the train wreck that is Owen Daniels. A zero? A F*&#@% zero?

Jacob Tamme (Yahoo 1% ESPN 1%) – This is the closest I can come to a tight end suggestion this week. Had a big game against Washington on Sunday, but has been non existent at times this year, and in his underwhelming career. The Falcons are a top offense and that makes Tamme worth taking a flier on. If he can find his way to 5-7 targets a game, and convert his red zone looks he might be on the back end of the TE1’s by seasons end.

@matthew: Yeah I’d make that trade. CJ is just too much for me to take at this point. He’s not even a flex option.

  2. Scott says:

Funny story. I needed a fill-in for CAAAMM. Missed out on Jay Cutler and had to “settle” for McCown. Would’ve been a good luck story if my top 3 RBs didn’t also have a bye and my WRs are pukey right now (Evans and Watkins).

I’ve been QB streaming this year with solid results. Currently rostering Mariota, Bortles and Carr.

  6. Make it Wayne says:

    Howdy Ralph man!

I have the #1 waiver spot, is West the top add for me or should I go with vereen there? Someone else already owns knile Davis.

I agree with you on LaFell, I scooped him up last week on waivers & I’ve been stashing him

Here’s my team if you’d recommend any other waiver add / drops

QB: Palmer & luck on bench

RB’s: hill, gore, Lamar miller, Matt jones , Doug Martin (bye)

WR’s: demaryius, alshon, cooks, john brown, Terrence Williams, hankerson, Andre Johnson , LaFell

TE: Gates & I have Owen Daniels. But it’ll be just gates I’m dropping Daniels

    Defense: Giants D

    Kicker: Josh brown

Available RB’s : West, Powell, vereen, Chris Thompson, deanthony thomas (listed as WR/RB), Buck Allen

Available WR’s: Marvin jones, Josh huff, Dwayne Harris, Jermaine kearse, Marquise Wilson, Jamison crowder, justin Hunter, devante Parker, Philip dorsett, Tavon Austin

    Available Defenses:

Eagles D (hosting Giants on MNF)

Vikings D (hosting the Charles-less Chiefs)

Or stick with my Giants D (at Philly on MNF)

    * for Giants D, looks like Sam Bradford could turn the ball over he has 6 picks this season he didn’t throw a pick weeks 3 + 4 , but he threw 2 ints Sunday vs saints

    * the flip Eli only has 2 int’s on the season & has been playing better. Eli has only been on the road twice, week 1 at Dallas 0 INT, 0 TD= 11 fantasy points.

Then Eli’s last home game was week 4 @ buffalo he threw for 212 yds, 3TDs, 1 pick = 27 fantasy points.

Eli is coming off a monster game 441 passing yards, 3TDs, 1 pick = 43 fantasy points

      I currently have it as:

      * priority 1 drop Owen Daniels, Add West.

      * Priority 2 Drop Darren McFadden, add vereen.

What should it be after vereen incase I don’t get vereen

      • Ralph Lifshitz

        Ralph Lifshitz says:
        (link)

@Make it Wayne: 1 & 2 are correct. I’d hold on DMC if you don’t get Vereen. None of those guys are any better.

I’d go Vikings D actually. Home game and we’ll see what KC looks like without JC

RBs: Latavius, Ivory, Karlos Williams, CJ Spiller

    Different Questions:

1.) Jason Witten is on a bye which TE to PicK up and who on my roster do I drop Available TE are Jacob Tamme, Richard Rodgers, Coby Fleener, Jordan Cameron, Vernon Davis, Heath Miller, Jordan Reed, Owen Daniels, Crockett Gilmore or Eric Ebron.

2.) I have Thomas Rawls with Lynch coming back is he now droppable. Should I try to add Chchanderick West. If so who do I drop for him.

3.) In order please who is most droppable, not including QBs would like to keep both.

My Roster: 10 man standard league

    QB Phillip Rivers
    RB Leveon Bell
    RB Latavius Murray
    WR Julio Jones
    WR AJ Green
    TE Jason Witten
    Flex Keenan Allen
    Bench
    QB ElI Manning
    RB Jonathan Stewart
    WR Steve Smith
    WR JOHN BROWN
    RB GIO BERNARD
    RB Thomas Rawls

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Dom B: 1. I’d go Rodgers but monitor Jordan Reed. If he’s back he’s top priority.

      2. You can drop Rawls, it’s Rawls or J-Stew. I’m actually leaning J-Stew but Rawls is more of an unknown

      3. Rawls, Stewart, Brown

  9. Hometown Hero says:
    (link)

I’m in a 12 team standard league and I am considering trading Randall Cobb and Josh Mcnown for Dion Lewis and Jarvis Landry.

I have Luck coming back and would have Gore, Woodhead, Abdullah, K Williams and Coleman at RB. At Wr I would have Julio Jones, Hankerson, Montcreif and DGB. Do I pull the trigger? Thanks!

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

      @Hometown Hero: pull that trigger

  10. Steve Stevenson says:

    PPR League

I have Jamaal Charles, so yeah….

My current RBs are: Foster, Blount, Spiller, Coleman, A. Morris, Charles
WRs are: Calvin Johnson, Jeffery, J. Mathews, John Brown, Agholor

How much of $100 FAAB would you spend on the following and who would you drop? I have T. Taylor (as a back-up) that’s dropable too. I have $70 left.
    – West
    – Davis
    — Andre Johnsn,
    – Ryan MAthews
    – Vereen

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

@Talking Keyboard: I’d go West at $40, Mathews at $18, Davis at $15, Vereen at $8, Andre at $5.

I wouldn’t want Mathews if I got west. Davis and Vereen at the right price. If you get West and Mathews/Davis cancel other bids

I’d drop Charles first, then Agholar, then Spiller, then Tyrod

  12. Talking Keyboard says:

In a half point PPR, would you drop Desean Jackson or Chris Johnson
for West, Kniles Davis, or Andre Johnson?

Looking ahead I need to hold on to 2 WR (other than Green, Cobb, and Jones as they all have byes Week 7)

I currently have: AP, Ingram, Foster, Randle
WRs – Green, Cobb, James Jones, Hurns

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:

Not sure whAt to do In my half point , 12 team ppr.

I have witten, who has a bye

There are very few “decent” tes out there

    Who do I drop ?
I have rb – gore, Lacy, Matt jones
Wr – Cobb, a brown, j brown, Wallace , Allen Robinson, Kendall wright

I have tried to trade one of the wideouts for a te to no avail. We only start 2 WRs and2 RBs, and I feel like I will never start a lot of those WRs.

  17. Wide Right says:

Who would you drop to make a claim on West..
    Rueben Randle or Rishard Matthews?
My current RB’s are AP, Hyde, and Feeman.
My other WRs are Green, Tate, Watkins, Andre Johnson.

Second Question: I have been winning despite my QB’s- Stafford, Kaep(dropped) Vick.
Guess I got the most out of Vick.. do I pick up another QB this week.. or see how it plays out after Stafford gets back on track this week.. Options McCown, Fitzpatrick, Winston, and Kaep (again?)

    • Ralph Lifshitz

      Ralph Lifshitz says:
      (link)

      @Wide Right:
Question One: I’d drop Matthews for him.

Question Two: This is a death match between turds. I want to say Fitzpatrick for some strange reason, but that probably means stay put. I think you just have to be savvy and focus on picking up the guy with the best matchup or matchups. Almost like a D or kicker.

      • Wide Right says:
        (link)

@Ralph Lifshitz: I am going to roll with Stafford against the Bears D. I guess I could drop Vick and claim Romo.. who was dropped.. and hope he’s back and healthy for playoffs.

        • Ralph Lifshitz

          Ralph Lifshitz says:

    (1) Should I drop Eddie Royal for Brandon Lafell?

    (2) Jordan Cameron was just dropped. Who do you like better between he and Barnridge? Could Cameron see more targets now that the TE coach, Dan Campbell, is the interim HC?

    (3) Someone ahead of me in the waiver order got Charcandrick West, so I settled for Knile Davis. Devonta Freeman, Todd Gurley and Gio Bernard have carried me at RB position so far. I still like Spiller even though his usage is a big wtf at the moment. I think he can be valuable as the season prgresses, especially since it’s PPR. Abdullah/Bell is a bad situation right now, but I think Abdullah can turn it around with his schedule set to ease up a bit. I’m only carrying Bell as a handcuff in case of an Abdullah injury, but since Ameer isn’t even a starter for me, is that foolish? Should I be using that roster spot on someone like Jordan Cameron or Brandon Lafell?

@Scott: He’s a handsome buck, gets the most action on the Pats. At least that’s what I hear from my moles.

Trade my Allen Robinson for C. West? Already own Knile and the rest of my WRs are Marshall, Beckham Jr, and Maclin.

@Tony Mags: that’s good depth. I’d hold or see if I could get a less risky back.

@Ralph Lifshitz: Losing Charles hurt. My only other RBs (in a 2 RB and Flex PPR league) are Lamar Miller, Karlos Williams, Vereen and Abdullah.

Standard scoring, ROS: D. Adams, Tate, LaFell, R. Matthews, A. Johnson or M. Jones?

Also, dynasty league, standard scoring, have #2 waiver. I own J. Randle. My first claim is C. West, but if he’s gone, should my second priority be K. Davis or C. Michael given the report that Michael may end up starting out of the bye? Also, which WR would you rather stash long-term in this format, DGB or Kevin White?

I need to pick up a WR for Week 6 and 7 as bye-week fill-ins and pickings are slim. How would you rank Cotchery, D. Green-Beckham and Dwayne Harris?
