I can tell you I usually only watch snippets of most football games, but I watched that whole 99 yard game winning drive by Vince Young and it was neato.  I was impressed by Young’s arm and not just his ability to run.  He’s won 9 straight over the past 5 years or so and he’s making a case to get into fantasy lineups.  He is definitely worth a pickup if you’ve been running schmohawks out there on a consistent basis.  I grabbed him in a league I have Garrard and Alex Smith in.  If I owned Cutler I’d be grabbing whoever has a pulse.

Ben Roethlisberger talked to Coach Tomlin and informed him he might want to be able to tell his grand kids about winning Super Bowls instead of drooling on them, so he’s listed as questionable, but I have a feeling he’ll end up playing anyway.  The alternative is Dennis Dixon going up against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football.  Big Ben might sacrifice himself for Dixon.  I’ll be checking his hands for stigmata.

While I was writing this article, Doc and I started discussing the importance of looking at the most recent performances from a defense instead of relying on the full season’s worth of data. In fantasy baseball, the danger is in placing too much importance in small sample sizes, but in fantasy football, I’d argue that the opposite is true — there’s at least as much if not more danger in relying on large sample sizes.

Brandon Gibson - Gibson was a guy on my list last week after receiving nine targets as a result of Burton’s season ending injury and now he is back on after receiving a monstrous 17 targets on Sunday.  Only Welker was targeted more often than Gibson though Welker did much more with his targets; he caught 15 passes for 192 yards compared to Gibson’s five catches for 61 yards.  However, despite Gibson’s touchdown drop which cost his team a chance at overtime, his sheer number of targets over the last two games has been staggering.  In fact, Gibson has amassed 26 targets over the past two games compared to teammate Donnie Avery who only has 14 targets in his last three.  Here is a short list of players who have fewer targets in the last three games than Gibson has had in his last two: Jennings, Sims-Walker, Driver, Burleson, Ochocinco, Boldin, Vincent Jackson, and Marques Colston.  On paper Gibson looks like filet mignon at the Golden Corral compared to his waiver wire friends, but before you get a half a Snickers bar in your pants remember that the one throwing him the rock is none other than…KYLE BOLLER!
