So you were counting on LenDale White to lead your team to the promised land and you heard through the Twitter and the Facebook that Mr. White was given his pink slip for smoking a little green, or something else; I really don’t know, but green is a color and it went with the other colors, see?  Anyway, he will be suspended four games for taking something illegal, plus it sounds like he was ultra lazy and that leaves the stable door open for Justin Forsett to escape.  The farm hands may try to slow him down and let Julius Jones roam free, but they won’t be able to hold him back for long!

Arian Foster looked great at the end of last season and was on many a fantasy players radar for the upcoming season, that is until the Texans picked Ben Tate in the second round.  Of course now Foster is the main guy at OTAs since Tate is out with a hamstring injury and as long as he’s getting the work and is able to prove himself he’ll have a shot at starting.  Add to all that Gary Kubiak’s propensity to handle his RBs like Charlie Sheen handles his love interests and it makes for a scary situation.

The 2010 NFL Draft class is choc full of potential fantasy studs at the DB position.  Here are my top 10 incoming Rookie DB’s for 2010.

#1  Eric Berry, Kansas City Chiefs, Selected in the 1st Round (5th Overall)

There is no way KC was gonna pass up on him and for good reason.  A 3 year captain at Tennessee, Berry was a leader both on and off the field.  He has the vision of a Pro Bowl DB and can lay a hit on someone as well as any LB in the game.  Expect to see Jairus Byrd like numbers in his rookie campaign.

Our main man Jamaal Charles had off season surgery on his shoulder.  His shoulder was the one question mark I had about JC because he came out of a few games because of it (I’m going to assume it’s the same shoulder).  This is one of the reasons the Chiefs were so gung ho to get Thomas Jones.  There was no doubt that Jones was going to get goal line carries so that won’t change much, but I do feel that JC is a little riskier than I had hoped.  He is too talented not to reel off huge runs and TJ is just too old to be explosive anymore.  I may drop JC a spot or two in the rankings, but I am still targeting him in drafts.

At the beginning of each season it is extremely difficult to predict how a defense will do.  The year prior can only tell some of the story, but some is better than none.  Even with changes in players, coaches, schemes, etc… a team usually keeps the core of their defense.  And even if big changes are in order, it often takes teams a while to adjust.  So, often a team will strengthen their defense, but it will take quite a few games for that team to gel.

I grew up reading Lindy’s NFL preview magazines, so when I was asked to do a mock for their fantasy magazine I said giddy-up.  I can’t say this is the best team I’ve ever drafted, but looking back I couldn’t really see anything I would have done differently.  Picking 12th of course has it’s advantages, but hoping that your player gets back to you usually doesn’t work, so I grabbed who I wanted, when I wanted, how I wanted!

Fantasy Football changes fast.  One year you are fantasy lame, the next you have fantasy fame.  Al Davis has been hamstringing and touchdown blocking Zach Miller for a couple years now by drafting JaMarcus Russell as the Raiders’ quarterback. But even through that Miller has shown glimpses of greatness, but with no help from his team, they could only remain glimpses.  For tight ends, touchdowns are what make them fantasy relevant in most leagues and Miller had a paltry 3 endzone trips last season, which was up from one the year before.  Even with just 3 TD’s he finished the season as the 12th best fantasy tight end with 66 receptions for 805 yards, which of course led all offensive Raiders.
