A new tight end has emerged as the next potential fantasy star, and his name is Jimmy Graham.

News broke last week that the Saints released tight end Jeremy Shockey after 3 not-so-great seasons.  Next in line down there in N’awlins is Jimmy Graham, who was a former basketball player for the University of Miami.  Basketball, you say?  Yes, basketball I say!  Basketball stars becoming football stars isn’t all that unheard of, particularly at the tight end position.  We all know how this Antonio Gates thing has worked out.  All he has done is become the most dominant player in the NFL at his position after playing basketball in college, which has warmed our fantasy lovin’ hearts.  That Tony Gonzalez guy is a future NFL Hall of Famer as well.

James Starks had a nice playoff run last season and did his best Shonn Greene impersonation, and of course we all know what happened to our man Greene.  But will the same thing happen to Starks?  Last season there was a good chance that Greene would take over the #1 RB slot for the Jets after Thomas Jones left, but LT came in and was all effective and stuff, while Greene could never get on track.

Everyone will be looking for the next Arian Foster, Peyton Hillis or Ahmad Bradshaw in their 2011 fantasy drafts.  They’re not easy to find.  They’re even harder to find in February, but it’s never too early to start searching.  Everyone can make solid running back picks in the top 3 rounds, but it’s the fantasy owners who make the best running back selections in the mid to late rounds that end up winning fantasy titles.  The guy who drafted Arian Foster late in your fantasy draft won your league last season, didn’t he?  I knew it!

Hello Razzballers!  Allow me to introduce myself – I’m Clint, and I’m the primary writer for a little fantasy football site called You Heard It Here First.  I’ve been playing fantasy football for more than 9 years now, and I’ve been writing about it for a little over a year.  Doc has given me the opportunity to drop some knowledge about this game we all love on his website, which I’ve humbly accepted.  So prepare yourself folks – it’s about to get nuttier than squirrel turds up in here, up in here.

The NFL and the Player’s Association are set to meditate for the next 7 days. Wait, no? Oh, they are going to mediation you say? That’s good I suppose.  I think the meditation would probably work better because they both need to get their shizz together.  But what I really think they need to do is to sit in a room with about 100 hardcore NFL fans and discuss their grievances and and the billions of dollars they are trying to divvy up.

We are once again into the mock draft season and I’ve joined some twitter friends for my first mock of the season.  You can check out the progress here.  And just below you can see my thoughts on the first round.  This is a PPR league, which really opens this draft up and makes it pretty interesting.  It isn’t exactly a mock since we will play this out, but with no lineup changes, pickups or trades.  The team with the most cumulative points wins.

Mr. Tony Romo has bobbled field goal snaps, dated dingbats, been the butt of many jokes and the donner of many a newsboy’s hat from the 3o’s.   I’m here to give him a little hype.  At this point he is not elite.  He could be, but it’s not a lock.  He is an above average QB, similar to Matt Schaub in the fantasy realm.  We saw how Schaub could go from elite numbers to not so elite fairly quickly and that’s not something you see with someone like Peyton Manning and Aaron Rodgers.  They are elite because they stay that way from year to year.  Will Romo ever be able to do that?
