Don't be shellfish...Tweet about this on TwitterShare on FacebookShare on Google+Share on Reddit

Soooo, yeah, I got bored. What can I say? Even with such an illustrious life of binge drinking and hanging out with your mom, there are empty spaces to fill. And I give you something that came out of one of those spaces. The thought process here is, (and be careful, you’ll be entering my thoughts, so duck if you see heavy amounts of boobage, or, you know, do your best motorboat impersonation):

“Well, you know what I would really like? Besides a fudgesicle? Actually, that’s all I’d really like. Wait, then I can’t explain my chart. Well… okay, but this is the last favor I’m doing for you. (What, this is how my brain works… kinda makes you wonder why you are even here, right?) So… what I’d like right now, besides fudge in my mouth, is a sort of reference thingamajig and tells me where all my picks will land if I’m picking, let’s say, 5th in a 12-team draft. Where are the rest of my picks? WHERE I ASK YOU! Look at all this internal strife. FUUUUDGE.”

So, you see all that? I needed something to tell me where my picks are, because I react to math like I do canned asparagus. This is a bad thing for all you canned asparagus lovers out there. All three of you. So, here’s a nifty chart-thang that won’t necessarily help you navigate international waters, but might come in handy during your drafts…

had my draft last night…1 PPR auction keeper. kept peyton, but wound up adding foles/romo due to low cost. I think I should try to flip peyton for a WR1. thoughts?

    QB – Peyton
    RB – Ellington
    RB – Stacy
    WR – Garcon
    WR – Crabtree
    Fl – Spiller
    Fl – Stills
    K – Vinatieri
    Def – Stl

    BN – Foles
    BN – Romo
    BN – Amendola
    BN – Bradshaw
    BN – Cooper
    BN – Hartline

    • Gay 4 Grey says:
      (link)

@eltoo: I’m not sure how or why you ended up with 3 top QB’s. Tough question to answer since we don’t know your league mates’ interest in Peyton, but it’s clear that you need to flip a QB for some RB and WR depth.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@eltoo: Yes, you need to lose like two of those guys. Try to trade Peyton for a better flex than Stills, and depending who you like out of Romo and Foles (I’d keep Foles), try to trade for some more WR depth. Maybe like a Streater or something.

  2. Gay 4 Grey says:
    (link)

I need to drop 3 players from the below list, so that I can add a K, DEF, and IDP before week 1 starts: D. Sproles, A,. Bradshaw, M. Ingram, H. Miller, T. Austin.
A couple things to keep in mind, it’s a PPR league with return yards as an offensive category.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Gay 4 Grey: Ingram, Miller, Bradshaw. Tough one though.

  3. A Wesley Snipes Life says:
    (link)

which of these are better, and by how much? 10th overall pick in 12 teamer with .20 return yards worth 1 pt. 6 pt TD’s of any type. at 100 rushed or received yards a 6 pt bonus. at 300 yards for QB’s a 6 pt bonus. full pt PPR. i want to see if following my VBD computer program led me badly astray by keeping on telling me to grab best WR (esp with garcon in 4th round, having only mathews), and then later it kept telling me to take best RB, even as those got worse and worse. we can only start 2 RB and 3 WR, no flex.
    Team 1
    QB – Cutler (9)
    RB – Mathews (3)/ Sankey (5)/ Vereen (6)/ Miller (7)/ S-Jax (8)/ Mcfadden (12)
    WR – Julio (2)/ Garcon (4)/ Wayne (10)/ Stills (11)/ Baldwin (13)/ Streater (14)
    TE Graham (1)
    K – Walsh (16)
    DEF – Buf (15)

Team 2 (the one where i go with team needs (and also knowing that these guys hoard RB, even though we can only start 2)
    QB Brady (5)
    RB – Bell (2)/Vereen (6)/PT cruiser (7)/ Hyde (10)/ McFadden (11)/ Bradshaw (13)
    WR – Cruz (3)/ Garcon (4)/Wayne (8)/ T.Austin (9)/ Shorts (12)/ Baldwin (14)
    TE – Graham (1)
    K -Walsh (16)
    Def – TB (15)

      • A Wesley Snipes Life says:
        (link)

@Jay: i figured 2 was better. 2 was what i would’ve been able to likely get had i not grabbed Julio (as VBD program told me to) in round 2, and Garcon in 4. grabbing Graham in round 1 (at end of round) really makes getting other values quite hard. it’s probably why so many people are averse to grabbing TE’s that early. this wouldn’t necessarily be the case if so many owners didn’t appear to think that the gap between a top WR and a 30th or so one wasn’t so big (which it is). there’s some teams here that actually have white/wallace, hilton, wright as their best WR (and we have to play 3), due to overdrafting RB’s.

  4. malamoney

    malamoney says:
    (link)

You know what annoys me. ESPN auction draft software has preset values for players. That sucks. It allows owners that have done little to no prep have some usually inflated value for every player right in front of them when a player is nominated and makes it very hard to get guys at a value. At least the big names. But heck, worse than that is that it actually results in the studs going for way more than they should or are worth. It’s bullish!t. As commish I was looking to see if there was a way to turn it off, but I have had no luck. I don’t even know where ESPN gets there inaccurate player values.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@malamoney: I haven’t had a chance to draft on ESPN this season, but their values tend to be strange. Then again, I’m sure that’s easy to say about my values as well. But yeah, people are really swayed by such things.

    • Good Will Hunting 2: Hunting Season says:
      (link)

@malamoney: that actually means you have more to exploit, assuming you disagree with their values, since you are right that 90% of your opp’s will go by those numbers.

    • uncdrew says:
      (link)

      @malamoney:

You gotta use that to your advantage.

ESPN will have some guys valued too low. Know who they are. Draft them when there’s value.

I like that ESPN pre-ranks players. Makes them easier for us all to find and makes the draft go faster. If this annoys you, you might be playing in a league with guys/gals who don’t know what they’re doing — that doesn’t sound like fun. My leagues are full of guys who know just about everything about every player and nothing ESPN can do will cause an unfair advantage.

    Jay

Looking at potential late round keeper picks in my 12 team Ppr league. We keep in rd we draft them.

Can you rank these players in a dynasty league and tell me if there is anyone you really like or dislike if them?

    Hyde
    Micheal
    Bryce brown
    Josh Gordon

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brett: You have them in the correct order, except I would rank Gordon over Brown slightly.

  6. Frank White says:
    (link)

Wutup Jay… I have the 11th pick out of 12 in my PPR league. It’s a3 receiver league and since I can’t grab top 5 running back I”m gonna go with best available so If Brandon Marshall or Bryant available should I grab one of them then on the 2nd pick sine it a real quick turn of mine, would you go with Manning or Rodgers or do I go with a running back like Bell, Ball or maybe Murray if available?? Considering my 3rd pick won’t be for a while so I know if I miss a top 4 QB I can always go for a Luck or Rivers something cause the Rb’s will be cutting low.. IDK. Lol

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Frank White: I’d go RB there. QB depth is amazing this season.

      • Frank White says:
        (link)

Thnx.. What 5 rb’s do you like after the top 5 in order personally??

        • Mordacious Levator says:
          (link)

@Frank White: RB rankings above at top of page answers this pretty ok.

  7. Brian says:

Is there any hope for Steven Ridley this year what is your thoughts on his situation and how do you project him this year ?

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brian: There’s always hope, until he fumbles. Belichick won’t hesitate to pull him if something like that happens… too much risk for me.

  8. Matty says:
    (link)

    Hey Dude-
Grey has kept me in contention for the past few baseball seasons, and now I’m abandoning my loved ones for the football season too. I’ll probably have some really stupid questions going forward. Anyways, I just got offered Kaepernick and Joique Bell for Roethlisburger and Rashad Jennings. Standard format. Seems fair, right? Big Ben is my only QB right now, and Jennings is sitting behind AP, Arian Foster, and Le’Veon Bell.
    Thanks a bunch.

    • Gay 4 Grey says:
      (link)

@Matty: Do it. I like Kaepernick slightly more than Roethlisberger and J. Bell vs Jennings is a wash.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Matty: It’s fair, but I’d hold for now.

  9. PJack says:
    (link)

    Hi Jay,

Looking forward to another football season on razzball. I went wr heavy and ended up with the megatron/aj green/Cobb/Floyd with marqise lee and Jordan Matthews on my bench.

At rb I have Lamar miller/t-rich/sankey/Andre Williams and Chris ivory.

Would you swap aj green for Doug Martin? Or hold and see if one of miller/t-rich/sankey can step it up?

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @PJack: I would hold there.

  10. B says:

    8 team, 2QB keeper league. 250 auction budget. Start 2QB, 2Wr, 2RB, TE, W/R/T, K, Def.

    Keep up to 5:
    Cam – 14
    RGIII – 0
    AJ Green – 8
    Michael Floyd – 8
    Andre Johnson – 9
    D. Martin – 37
    Lacy – 18
    Gio – 17
    Ellington – 8
    J. Graham – 41

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@B: Cam, RGIII, Green, Lacy, Ellington

      • B says:
        (link)

@Jay: Opinion change if I have 70 extra $ from trades and think that a couple of the big name QBs wont be kept?

Was thinking Cam, Lacy, Green, Ellington, Graham.

Graham went for 41 last year, and I anticipate he would again this year.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@B: If that’s the case, I’m fine with that.

  11. TheShelbySensation says:
    (link)

I’m used to playing 14 team leagues, so this 8 team draft was a bit strange for me. Please let me know your thoughts and advice. Thanks!

    ESPN 8 Team H2H .5 PPR, Standard

    QB: Nick Foles
    RB: Zac Stacy
    RB: Ryan Matthews
    WR: Demaryius Thomas
    WR: Roddy White
    TE: Jimmy Graham
    FLEX: C.J. Spiller
    D/ST: Rams
    K: Justin Tucker

    BE: Cordarerelle Patterson
    BE: Shane Vereen
    BE: Mike Wallace
    BE: Pierre Thomas
    BE: Cecil Shorts
    BE: Lamar Miller
    BE: Brian Hartline

    • Gay 4 Grey says:
      (link)

@TheShelbySensation: I think you can find a FA upgrade to Hartline. Not much value there, outside of PPR leagues.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@TheShelbySensation: Yeah, good team. To be honest, in 8-team leagues, every team is ‘good’. It comes down to bench depth and luck, and I would probably seek upgrades for Shorts and Hartline.

  12. Comatose says:
    (link)

Just got offered Ladarius Green for Reuben Randle. Normally I wouldn’t consider it, but I’m really light at TE and Randle might not start for me. Thoughts?

    QB – RGIII/Rivers
    RB – Murray
    RB – Mathews
    WR – Dez
    WR – Alshon
    WR – Cordarelle
    TE – Celek
    FLEX – Lamar Miller
    D – Pitt
    K – Dawson

    BN – Mike Wallace
    BN – Randle
    BN – Khiry
    BN – Devonta Freeman
    BN – Odell Beckham
    BN – Kenny Stills
    BN – RGIII/Rivers

    • Gay 4 Grey says:
      (link)

@Comatose: Hold. If you’re going to make a move to address TE, you should aim higher…Ertz, Reed, Rudolph come to mind.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Comatose: In this case, I’m okay with it, but I’d rather see what’s out there on the wire. Maybe drop Beckham for a Dwayne Allen or a Kelce.

      • Comatose says:
        (link)

@Jay: Yeah, went ahead and dropped Beckham for Kelce. Wasn’t high on Beckham anyway, and seems like injuries are going to hamper his start.

still wish i was stronger at wr, but i like my team, what do you think, any glaring holes?

    • Gay 4 Grey says:
      (link)

@mcBlunty: Solid team. No holes, though I don’t think Manziel is a worthy backup. Is Jake Locker available?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@mcBlunty: Yeah, solid team, and I like that trade for you. I don’t think you need Bryce Brown or Manziel on your bench. Find some depth upgrades for those guys.

    or
    Shady/Le’Veon

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Fish & Friends: AP/Stacy, but very close. I wouldn’t argue the other side.

  16. Bryan says:
    (link)

What’s your thoughts on the Rams Rb situation? Is Stacy on a short leash? I’m reading a lot of things that suggest Cunningham is simply better.

Cunningham worth a speculative add, dropping James White?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Bryan: It’s an okay add, but I’m not worried about Stacy.

  17. DomMattingly says:
    (link)

Would you drop Britt for Benny Cunningham? I need some RB help.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@DomMattingly: With his injury, I’m okay with that. But keep any eye on him, expecting big things when healthy.

  18. sniff test says:
    (link)

Thanks to you I have Ryan Matthews in every league. Nobody seems to want that guy and I get him for good value. I guess time will tell whether on not this is a good thing. Drafted last night using your PPR rankings as a guide. I had 10th pick.

    QB- Rivers
    WR- Demaryius (keeper)
    WR- Keenan Allen
    RB- Demarco Murray
    RB- Ryan Matthews
    TE- Jimmy Graham
    W/T- Mike Wallace
    W/R- CJ Spiller
    BN- Chris Johnson

    BN- Greg Olsen
    BN- RGIII

    • Jay

  20. Spencer says:
    (link)

Looking for a little TE advise here. This is for a 10 team league counting 1pt/10 yrd rec and 6 pt/TD. I currently have Jordan Reed on my roster as the only TE. Would you rather have any of these guys over Reed?

    T Wright
    H Miller
    A Gates
    B Celek
    D Walker
    J Cook

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Spencer: I’d hold, but with his past concussions, I’d worry. If you have room, I’d stach Miller or Gates.

    • Sinner Man says:
      (link)

      @Spencer:
I like Gates over Reed, fwiw. In a 10 teamer, you can always grab another teif Gates doesn’t see red zone targets the first week or two. I like Gates potential production over Reed, given their offenses.

  21. Zar says:
    (link)

Thanks Jay! This chart is amazing! I map out each pick before my drafts, but now I no longer have to!

I joined another league. It’s a yahoo standard but has bonuses for a QB throwing 300 yards (1 point) and 500 yards (2 points). RBs and WRs get bonuses at 100 yards (1 point) and 250 yards (2 points).

Does this change your rankings much? I could see the running QBs fall back behind traditional QBs, Are there any other changes in draft strategy?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Zar: No problem, just hoping it helps someone. I think the dynamic remains the same, but the elite guys gain big value. Drew Brees, Jamaal Charles… etc. Just makes the margin of error smaller when drafting to be honest.

      • Zar says:
        (link)

@Jay: Coool, Kinda what I was thinking. Makes the top end of the draft super important. I’ll keep that in mind. Using your handy chart, I’ll try to stock up early!

  23. B.J. says:

    What’s up Jay,

I just put Drew Brees on the block in my 12 team NonPPR league to see what type of offers I would get. A guy just texted me saying he would give me Megatron for Brees. I have Big Ben on my bench as my QB2, and I would be comfortable with him as my starter.

This would substantially upgrade my WR situation, as I have Roddy as my WR1, Crabtree as my WR2 and G. Tate as my WR3.

    Should I? Thanks in advance.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@B.J.: If I remember, this is a 2 QB league? I’m okay with it… who’s your other QB again?

      • B.J. says:
        (link)

@Jay: this is actually a 1 QB league. So Ben would be my starting QB, but I have a tentative deal in place that would bring me Philip Rivers so I could play matchups all season.

        • Sinner Man says:
          (link)

          @B.J.:
4pt passing td? I’d absolutely do it, especially if you’re confident you can secure Rivers.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

          @B.J.: Yeah, I’d do it.

  24. Adam says:
    (link)

Can you rank these 3 QBs for me? Lookin for the best potential backup for Rivers in a deep league

    +1 pt per 25 yd, +3 bonus at 300, +3 bonus at 400, +4 for TD, -2 for INT

    Josh McCown
    Ryan Fitzpatrick
    Shaun Hill

Fitz has the same week 10 BYE, unfortunately

    • Jay

@Adam: My rankings have them in that order.

  25. goodfold2 says:
    (link)

mcfadden or one of hillman/knile davis (.1 pt per return league and PPR so davis actually has a decent floor even as backup). this is 6th RB spot so it’s more about upside than current value. i doubt any of these guys ever starts unless of massive injuries to me, or hillman/knile gets starting job.

    • goodfold2 says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: or could grab cunningham to handcuff stacy, dropping mcfadden. this would make the 6 RB murray/stacy/CJ?K/Ivory/freeman along with whichever is the 6th.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: Out of that group, I’m okay with McFadden.

what up Jay, Hows this team look.. 14 team 1pt ppr league… 2rb-2wr-flex ..3rd pick in the draft

    Cutler, Palmer

    Charles, Jennings, Ingram, Woodhead

Nelson, A. Brown, Crabtree, J. Hunter, James Jones

    Miller, Kelce

    Tucker

    Broncos

    • Sinner Man says:
      (link)

      @ty:
You landed Jordy coming back in a 14 teamer – gotta love that. Your top 3 are gold, but you know that. Don’t like Crabtree, but I don’t like their passing offensive – would’ve preferred Colston there, if he was avail. Just my too sense…

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@ty: In a 14-team league? Yeah, It’s a good team. Love the Kelce grab, and the depth at WR.

      • ty says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks fellas…yeah 14 team league. Not every one was draft savvy as 4 qb’s went in the first round. I was very happy to see that

  27. DiRo says:
    (link)

Still thinking over this trade, but first here is my whole team in a ESPN 0.5 PPR 12 team league

    QB-Ryan, Romo
RB-Ellington, Verren, J Bell, Miller, Freeman
WR-D Thomas, Marshall, Edelman, Wright, Benjamin
    TE-Clay, Ebron
    Patriots
    Vinatieri

I would trade Romo/Wright/Ebron for Brady/Pitta/Malcom Floyd – I know you guys love Wright this year and all but I have him and Edelman equally, with a slight favor to the better system and QB

    • Sinner Man says:
      (link)

      @DiRo:
1 QB league, or 2? If 1 QB, don’t trade Wright unless the other guy upgrades significantly (Olsen or Decker tier)

Hey, normally I only do fantasy baseball, but this year I’m giving my hand at football. 10 team PPR. Thoughts on the team I drafted below? Anything I need to change? My only regret so far is drafting Trent in the 6th round (mistakenly looked at an ESPN ranking sheet instead of y’all’s that id printed)…thanks!

    RB:
    Adrian Peterson
    DeMarcus Murray
    Trent Richardson
    Steve Jackson
    Ahmad Bradshaw

    WR:
    Dez Bryant
    Andre Johnson
    Percy Harvin
    Marquise Colston
    Mike Evans

    QB:
    Andrew Luck
    Ben roethlisberger

    TE:
    Johnathan Reed
    Charles Clay

    K:
    Gostkowski

    Def:
    Rams

@Crazy old guy babbling in the corner:
Trent at 60 or above is a horrible pick, but you know that. He has no trade value, and you have to hold onto Bradshaw. If Steven Jackson somehow gets 80yds and a TD in week 1, flip him immediately for Olsen, or pair him with Percy for a Floyd/Torrey type – whoever gets a goose egg the first week.

@Crazy old guy babbling in the corner: \

looks pretty good, sucks about the T-rich mistake but i s’pose there could still be hope on him. possibly wait for an above average game and try and trade him?

that being said, i think you need a TE upgrade. I assume it’s jordan reed that’s your TE, and while he could be good his concussions are a real reason for concern. Try to see what kind of TE you can get in return for say Steven Jackson (who i think sucks and will get hurt)

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@Crazy old guy babbling in the corner: Yeah, not crazy about Richardson, and your depth is shaky, but AP, Murray, and Bryant are great anchors. Team should make some noise.

How much of $1000 would you bid for him?
    I currently have Kaepernick.

@the pillar & the stones: I would honestly just throw a buck at him. For some reason he went undrafted… unless you think someone else will be bidding.

Wutup Jay… I have Julius Thomas as my TE and I also picked up Antonio Gates as backup or flex but I got plenty of flex guys. Anyway I have Jamal Charles as my starter. Would you trade Gates for Knile Davis so we have a backup for Jamal??

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Frank White: Yeah, I’m okay with that if you have plenty of flex options.

  34. Duke says:
    (link)

Yo Jay. My last draft is a 12-team ppr auction with the wrinkle that QBs get .5 per completion. Normally I never spend much on QB but how would you approach it or how does that change things for you?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Duke: Probably increases the value of high accuracy guys (Rivers) and high attempt guys (Brees), but I’m not sure it changes the dynamic in a huge way. If you see them coming off the board, grab a QB, but this seems to be a high tide lifts all boats type of thing.

  35. L-Boogie says:
    (link)

12 team, non PPR. Picking 11th and I really want to do things differently this year and go WR-WR. Does this make sense in a non-PPR league or is this only really a viable strategy when you’re getting something for all those receptions from your elite WRs?

    Thanks.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@L-Boogie: WR-WR-WR appears to be the new meta this year. It’s okay in standard leagues as well, but I’d still like to grab at least one top tier RB, as I just feel there’s not much depth there this season.

  36. L-Boogie says:
    (link)

That’s the problem. By the time I pick there won’t be any top tier RBs left, unless you’re counting Bell, Martin, Lynch, Morris and “top tier”

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@L-Boogie: I agree, as Lynch there is top-top tier. The rest are around the area. The tiers I have, I’d say you’d want one guy from the top 3 tiers… but depending where you are picking, you might have to go WR-RB-WR instead of RB-WR-RB or some combination thereof.

standard league this roster, drop anybody (rudolph?) for bradshaw? TE and WR same thing
    romo/roethlisberger
    bell/spiller/cj?K/ ivory/ mccluster
    dez/graham/wright/cooper/olsen/rudolph
    start 2 RB, 1 RB/WR, 2 WR/TE.

Would you offer Alf, Garçon, and Clay for D Thomas and Julius if you have Lacy Joquie Lamar Miller and Moreno at Tailback and Crabtree, Wright, Hartline and Jeffrey at WR?

  41. Ian says:
    (link)

Just completed my draft. 12 teams .5ppr. It would be cool to get your input on how I did. Thanks!!

    Qb. Peyton Manning
    Wr. Roddy White
    Wr. Victor Cruz
    Wr. Michael Floyd
    RB. LeSean McCoy
    RB. Ben Tate
    Te. Kyle Rudolph
    FL. M Colston
    K. Matt Bryant
    Def. Seattle

    Bench:
    Kelvin Benjamin
    Ahmad Bradshaw
    Ladarius Green
    Knile Davis
    Jonathan Stewart
    Joe Flacco
    Khiry Robinson
    Cody Latimer

I know I’m a little weak at RB so I drafted a few guys that could hopefully pan out. One regret I made was I took Benjamin instead of West to handcuff Tate. But our league we keep 3 guys so thought KB could be great value next year. The West owner offered him for KB but I declined it. I had drafted Kelce too but I dropped him for Latimer. Kinda regretting that but already have two Te’s.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Ian: Actually, you’re ‘okay’ at RB, but your WR seems a bit weak as well. You can lose Flacco to pick up another player. You should be fine at TE. Kelce is a good sleeper, but you already have Green, who’s a better one.

      • Ian says:
        (link)

@Jay: thanks for your input! I actually really like my Wr’s…I feel like with 4 solid #2’s I should be okay. And Benjamin should be a decent bye week fill in.

  42. goodfold2 says:

almost ready to go in that 20 teamer with 30 man rosters and we mimic real life rosters, so only 1QB/1RB/2WR/1TE/1 flex (RB/WR/TE) for offense. i’m WAS and already have all their starters and Roberts/Helu reserved. I have 16 slots left to draft. bench will be comprised of backups (1 each) at QB/TE/LB/S/CB/DE/CB (i’ll grab decent ranked guy to start with Hall, and probably 1 of the 2-4 CB return men, as we get both .1 pt per return and bonuses at 50/100 yards there too). even with leaving 1 or 2 spots for fill ins at DE/DT, i’ll still have 3-4 spots for upside WR/RB. I’ll be grabbing Peterson at 1st overall (filling flex or being able to bench Morris), and hoping for Patterson at 20th overall (i traded for 20th/27th overall picks, and have 40th and 41st as well). whether i get Patterson or not I’ll need to know who to value more out of these rookies. I’ll put them in order of how Tehol had the top guys ranked.
Sankey/Beckham/Lee/ASJ (TE)/Austin/Green/Hunter/Evans/Mason/Randle/Matthews(WR)/Freeman/Williams (NYG). i’ll probably get ASJ or Green for Reed backup, but want to see which of the others to get if i can. Since our replacement level WR is at most 60th, and RB is 40th, there will be all kinds of guys that are owned in 12 team leagues with 7 bench spots that won’t be owned here (if owners are playing properly). So hoarding a lot of RB or WR with no little upside won’t be done.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@goodfold2: Tehol knows his stuff, and I would probably rank similar. I’d move ASJ up a bit, maybe to Beckham area.

      • goodfold2 says:

@Jay: i’ll make sure to target him over Green then.

    1) I like the chart – I always take a piece of loose leaf and number my draft picks before my drafts. Pencil and paper helps me think. 2) If I’m hanging with my mom, I better be binge drinking. 3) divorce sucks, especially the way it screwed up my long time 12 team keeper IDP league – down to eight this year. What can we do to make an 8 team Yahoo league more competitive? (Already keep 4, 2 TE’s, 9 IDP’s). Ideas appreciated.

      • Looking for a Pretty girl From Indiana... says:
        (link)

@goodfold2: That would be great – I’m still trying to add players, but appears we might just be stuck at 8. So was just wondering if anyone had ideas on how a small league can be made more competitive and fun. (Besides becoming a cable show like The League.)

      • Looking for a Pretty girl From Indiana... says:
        (link)

@Jay: 1) yep, but never had your chart before (and I’m in some 20 team leagues both fb and bb).2) Ha! I think there’s a typo in there, but I don’t want to know 3) no comment, don’t want to end up on 48 Hours. Always enjoy Kevin’s IDP info. Did find some old forum talk concerning 8-team leagues – seems to be disagreement whether small or large rosters make small leagues more competitive. So who knows – I’m just going to have fun with it.

    Hey Jay,

    I’m looking for some advice.

10 team PPR: QB, WR, WR, RB, TE, W/R, W/R/T, K, Def, BNx5

    QB: Matt Ryan
WR: Julio Jones, Antonio Brown, Roddy WHite, Wes Welker, Justin Hunter
RB: Lesean McCoy, Doug Martin, MJD, Lamar Miller, Fred Jackson
    TE: Jordan Reed
    K: Cody Parkey
    Def: Pittsburgh

I didn’t want to lean so heavily on Atlanta, but for some reason Roddy White was still available in the 7th round, so I grabbed him. I’m hoping White takes off so I can trade him, but my league is reluctant to engage in trading. If he plays well, my plan is to continue to offer him up for trade until I get someone willing to deal. Does this sound like a solid plan or would you consider keeping him if he is playing well?
