Don’t drop a guy just because he contributed to your 145 – 35 shellacking to the Brees/Purple Jesus team. But there are a few players out there to keep an eye on and possibly pick up if you just noticed that some of your bench players were inactive.  Take a look:

Mike Bell: There isn’t much chance he hasn’t been picked up, but it’s worth a look.  With Bush mainly a receiver, Thomas not 100%, and Bell playing well, there is a good chance he will have long term value.

Todd Heap: If he’s available and you punted on TE pick him up now.  He made a heap of good plays and should have praise heaped upon him.

Patrick Crayton: He’ll fly off the wire like a flock of starlings after Army scores a touchdown.  134 yards and a TD isn’t found on the wire that often.  I liked him enough to draft him in a few leagues and if you need someone to fill in for Anthony Gonzalez he might do the trick, just don’t expect these kind of numbers too often!

Joshua Cribbs: Even in non-return yardage leagues he is worth a look.  The Browns don’t have all that much going on offense and they need his big play ability in there as often as possible.  He’s still a flier at this point, but worth a stash.

Robert Meachem: He still has too many guys in front of him to do too much, but if you are in a return yardage league I’d grab him if he’s around.

Mark Sanchez: He looked like a starting QB.  He will have his ups and downs.  He gets the Patriots at home next week.  I wouldn’t start him against Belichick, but if the waiver wire is LenDale White thin and you need a backup QB I’d take a chance on him.

Edit: It looks like Pierre Garcon will take over as the #2. I like Collies, but it looks like he’ll be #3. Austin Collie: He has Manning throwing him the ball and he’s actually pretty good.  The Colts will grab some old WR who watched week one from his golf cart TV this week, but I still look for Collie to keep the #2 position.  And yes his name could be in the Fantasy Football Name Generator — Austin Collies!

Mark Bradley: He is clearly the Chiefs #2 receiver and should get a lot of garbage time receptions as the Chiefs’ D will continue to give up whole swaths of territory and probably be forcibly removed to Oklahoma.

Mario Manningham: I’m not exactly high on any Giant’s receivers, but Eli likes any player with Manning in his name and now maybe he’ll do a commercial endorsing Hormel with him.  Pick him up in deep leagues.

Laurent Robinson: He looks more like a true #1 receiver than Avery.  If he had a real QB throwing to him I’d be picking him up all over the place, but as is I’d add him in deeper leagues.  He could easily surpass Avery as the #1.

Antwaan Randle El: He was Campbell’s favorite receiver week 1 and there is no reason to think he won’t keep getting looks.  He’s probably not worth starting unless you need a fill in, but you just might.
