Select the “Flex” tab if you need a more complete picture to decide your starts and sits. Use the “OP” tab for 2QB Leagues. And you can access our Half PPR and PPR rankings using the drop down box in the top left of our rankings when you select the RB, WR, TE, or Flex positions. Any and all questions will be answered below…

As of right now I have the Giants D for this week vs Philly.

I also have Jordan Matthews and Zach Ertz on my team. Should I try and play a different D this week so my points don’t cancel out? Or am I over thinking it?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@E: Not overthinking it. If those two go off, you’re basically taxing your own team because it’ll be against that defense. I’d try to stream something similar in this case.

  2. Jon says:

Got me here with the advice to go Tevin Coleman over Manny Sanders and Griffin at TE. In the ship, need to hear your thoughts boss. Half ppr. guy Im against is stacked. -18pt dog. Need upside.

    My LineUp
    Qb- Brees
    Rbs- Howard, Lamar Miller
    WRs- Aj Green, Sanders
    TE- Fiedorowicz
    Flex- Cam Meredith
    D- Chargers
    K- Santos

Obviously boom or bust type team. Worked out so far!

Would you start any of these guys over my WRs or Coleman in the flex?
Watkins, Tyreek Hill, Gabriel. Also dion lewis and Washington on waivers. I know green is supposed to start, starting him for upside but open to discussion. If he doesnt get the start who do I throw in?

TE- all on waivers- barnidge, henry, fleener, both indy guys, cook, brown. A lot of average. I have griffin on the bench if Fiedorowicz doesnt get the start. Any over fied/griffin?

Kicker- 3,4,5 scoring. Would you grab Will Lutz to stack on drew brees? Opponent has cooks, so any Tds to him will not help me. (4pt qb td, 6pt wr). But I also like santos vs denver. Denvers D going to stop the, ans could mean a lot of long FG shots.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Jon: Totally a boom or bust team, but those ones are the scariest this time of year. Leaning Watkins over Coleman there, but it’s a coinflip, so either would work. I’d say if he can’t start, put in both Coleman and Watkins. For TE, I’d go Griffin if Fiedorowicz is still out. And I like Santos there.

      • Jon says:
        (link)

@Jay: So you’re leaving my green, sanders, meredith? Or are you saying either watkins or coleman in my flex over meredith? Or if AJ is out throw in watkins ir coleman?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Jon: Yes on the second one. I think! I feel like I’ve confused myself now.

          • Jon says:
            (link)

            @Jay:
            Haha me too!

So Aj, Sanders, and then Meredith in flex. They just said green is starting. IF He doesnt start. You sould go either watkins or coleman then?

Wouldnt go watkins or coleman over Merdith in the flex? Half ppr

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Jon: Yeah, it’s looking like it. If the reports seem good, I’m okay with Green. I would want Watkins over Meredith I think. But it’s close enough where you can go either way.

              • Jon says:
                (link)

                @Jay:
Yeah I agree. If Lamar Miller doesn’t suit up and I need coleman in the flex. What rb you going with? I have hightower on my bench. Lewis, washington, forsett, henry, snd gillislee all in waivers. Half ppr.

                • Jay

                  Jay says:
                  (link)

@Jon: Out of those guys, I think Lewis is your best bet. But in that case, I’m hoping for Miller to play desperately.

                  • Jon says:
                    (link)

@Jay: Haha agreed. I should be able to work it to have Tevin in the rb spot anyways.

How you feeling about Green? With cincy not having playoff hopes Im worried. One tweak and they definetly pull him.

                    Thanks for the help bossman.

                    • Jay

                      Jay says:
                      (link)

Yeah, I’m a bit worried… I just don’t know what to do with him yet. I’ll be updating the rankings tonight, and he’ll drop, the question is, by how much? I’m thinking if you have those safer options, go with them there.

                    • Jon says:
                      (link)

                      @Jon:
Yeahh. Im goin howard, miller at rb. Then sanders, watkins at wr, cam meredith at the flex.

Benching Green, hill, gabriel, and coleman. Then I have blue or coleman if Lamar cant start. Cant take the risk on Aj. Would you go Blue or Coleman if Miller doesnt get the start?

  3. Brian says:
    (link)

Bold prediction for week 16 Gordon sits Hillman rushes for at least 100 yds and scores at least 1 TD . Farrow is horrific one of the worst rbs I’ve seen in a long time no way they give that bum another shot.

.5 ppr Final lineup – not great but got me here

    Rivers
    Fitz Cooper Meridith
    Ingram RyMatthews
    Rudolph
    Flex: Coleman
    Jankowski
    Seahawks

Would you swap Newton in at qb, Shepard or R Anderson or Ginn at flex or Titans at d instead?

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Nightpandas: Naw, I’d stick with Rivers against CLE, and Coleman at flex.

  5. Oliver says:
    (link)

    Greetings!

I’m in the championship game against the #1 team in the league in terms of rank and scoring. He beat me by less than a point in regular season matchup. This game is serious. Money on the line.

    My team is:
    QB: Carr, Rivers
RB: Zeke Elliott, Blount, Lamar Miller, Doug Martin, Farrow
WR: Julio Jones, Alshon Jeffery, Maclin, Tyreek Hill, Rishard Matthews, Gabriel, Steve Smith
    TE: Olsen

    We start 2 RBs, 2WRs, and 1 RB/WR FLEX.

I put in a waiver request for Inman, dropping Steve Smith. Assuming I don’t get him (I’m #8 on the waiver)

    My questions:
    1. Carr vs Rivers?
    2. Lamar or one of the WRs at FLEX? If I do get Inman, do I go with Alshon or Lamar?
    3. Given the concern about Olsen’s elbow, which player would you drop to pick up Vernon Davis as a back-up?

Thanks in advance for your help. You always steer me right!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Oliver: Yo! I’d say Rivers, Lamar, and yeah, if you get Inman, he should be starting for sure. And I’d drop Smith if you don’t get Inman, I’m sure you’d do that anyways, but if that does work out, I think you can drop Maclin.

      • Oliver says:
        (link)

@Jay: Looks like Miller may not play. If he can’t go, I’m starting Julio Jones, Inman (waiver request was successful), Zeke, and Blount. Who do you like at FLEX?

        Thanks again!

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Oliver: Yeah, out of those guys, leaning Zeke. If it’s between Inman and Blount, I like Blount there.

          • Oliver says:
            (link)

@Jay: Sorry, my question was not clear. I am already starting Blount and Zeke at RB, Julio and Inman at WR.

My choices for FLEX would be:

Doug Martin, Alshon Jefferey (where I’m leaning), Gabriel, Rishard Matthews, Tyreek Hill, Maclin, and Farrow.

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Oliver: Yeah, I’d say Jeffrey there then.

  6. Oliver says:
    (link)

    I should mention:

    1. This is a standard, non-PPR league.
    2. It is a keeper league, so who I drop for a back-up TE may be crucial for next year.

    Thanks again!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Oliver: Okay, that doesn’t change much, and if that’s the case, I’m still okay dropping Maclin there if the situation is dire.

  7. sh says:

Jay thanks for all you advice this season, 1 last game for me, it’s Championship time.
    In a PPR leauge
    My Team VS. Bad Guys
    QB-Ryan Brees
    RB-David Johnson, Mccoy Gore,R.Kelley
WR-Inman, Jeffry and Watkins Rishad Matt, Ty Montg., Demaryius T
    TE- D.Walker L.Green
    SuperFlex Kapernick or Howard RG3

What do you think my chances are of winning.?

I have J.Matthews, Dalton,Gabriel and A.Robinson on my bench, should I dress Howard over Kaep for the flex, also would you dress any of the guys above in my starting lineup.?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@sh: Thanks for hanging out! I’d say the chances are above average. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s close. I think keep Kaep in for now, 2QB leagues are weird like that. And yeah, Alshon over ARob is the way to go here I think.

  8. Not Your Average Joe says:
    (link)

Probably not the only question I’ll drop but here goes no. 1!

Because of Ladarius Green likely being out, I have to use one of my two adds (we get 2 x week) on a TE. For my last add, I can either use it on a defense on the wire (GB or NYG) to replace the current options (MIA, BUF), or I could use it to add Ty Montgomery, who I’d likely start, even though Minny scares me, over other guys on my roster like

Should I use my last add on Montgomery or one of the two defenses I mentioned (GB/NYG)?

    • Not Your Average Joe says:
      (link)

      @Not Your Average Joe:

Oh, who am I kidding. I added Montgomery.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Not Your Average Joe: No probs, it’s what we’re here for! I think go for the positional guy there. Ty has a bad matchup, but if he’s better than your normal options, I’m going for it.

  9. Blake says:
    (link)

why so high on the kansas city defense? siemian has looked ok?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Blake: Eh, nothing to write home about on Siemian and KC is at home. Tough place to play this time of year.

      • Blake says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Also, curious about fitzgerald ranking? because of seahawks DB’s? PPR league

feels wierd benching fitzgerald for Inman

here is my lineup – No flex

        WR: D Thomas
        WR: M Crabtree
        WR: D Inman

        B: L Fitzgerald
        B: T Hill
        B: S Watkins
        B: M Mitchell
        B: R Anderson

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Blake: Yeah, a lot of it is matchup, not just for Fitz, but Palmer could not show up as well, which has a trickle down effect. He’s at 24 for me at QBs. I know it feels weird, and I blame Cleveland.

          • Blake says:
            (link)

            @Jay:

u have tennessee ranked higher than LA – shouldnt LA feast on Kap?

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Blake: LA in general is a mess. They’re not terrible, but I have em about middle of the pack.

            • Crapshoot Kershaw says:
              (link)

@Blake: since kapernicking has started SF isn’t the most awesome matchup for D’s. he’s put up lots of yards, WAY better than gabert or bortles in a long time.

              • Crapshoot Kershaw says:
                (link)

@Crapshoot Kershaw: also TEN actually wants to win this game for a real reason. Rams will play hard (some of them) for a while, but if they are losing their D guys will start doing dirty shit, penalties, after whistle hits and such. they do the penalties anyway, it’s how fisher wanted it.

              • Jay

                Jay says:
                (link)

          • Blake says:
            (link)

            @Jay:

Also not sure what to do about a QB in my STD league 3rd place showdown:

            Dak Prescott
            T Semioan
            Kaep
            bortles
            Flacco
            A smith
            Wentz
            Bradford

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Blake: I’d say Dak is the safe pick there, with Kap being the ceiling guy. Me personally? I’m probably running Dak out there.

              • Blake says:
                (link)

                @Jay:

i know – doesn’t seem like the Dal/Det game will be high scoring? heard both teams are very slow with the amount of plays. Seems like Kaep will run a lot…. not sure

                • Jay

                  Jay says:
                  (link)

@Blake: I feel like Dallas will handle them pretty well. The Lions allow a lot of minutes to the opposing teams offense.

                  • Blake says:
                    (link)

@Jay: now that Dallas has clinched, won’t they rest dark in the 2nd half? Do I go with Karl?

  10. Mike says:
    (link)

Gates, Witten, L. Green or Griffin?

Would you play Meredeth over Alshon? Would you play Inman over Williams? Obviously Ive seen your rankings but they are so close.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Mike: Going Gates there, and I’d stick with Alshon over Meredith. And Williams over Inman, close though, you’re right.

  11. Packers says:
    (link)

I thought Snead was a better option than Kelly for the flex position in a 1/2 ppr. Your OP rankings say no by a lot 49 to 80. I’m going with what you say as you helped me get here. If it wasn’t for Kelly getting touchdowns he would not be great. I’ll double check your rankings on Saturday. Is it a no brainer for you Kelly over Snead?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Packers: Hmm, in half PPR, I have the spread at 24 to 51. In the scheme of things, it’s not a huge divide, but yeah, I ended up siding with the matchup here. I think Kelley will do really well against the Bears. But you’re right, this gap could close by Saturday, but probably not enough to get Snead in the convo.

  12. Big W says:
    (link)

    Hey Jey,

I’ve got Miami for DEF this week. they were amazing last week against the Jets. This week they have the bills and you, like many other experts are not too confident about Miami this week. I see you have the Titans ranked pretty high against the Jags. Titans are available for me to pick up.

Can you sell me on why the Titans will do so much better than Dolphins this week? Is it strictly because Titans are facing the Jags?

    Thank you,

    Big W

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Big W: It’s matchup, and some of it is tied into the offense too, I just don’t think the Dolphins will do itself any favors on both sides of the ball here.

  13. Toby says:
    (link)

Need help with my WRs after getting just 5 combined points (standard scoring) last week from Cooper, Diggs and Tyrell Williams. Here are my options (help me pick 3):

    Roster:
    Cooper
    Diggs
    Tyrell Williams
    Landry
    Hogan

    Wire:
    Jones Jr.
    Coleman
    Fuller
    Eli Rogers
    Dorsett
    Boyd Sharpe
    More shitty receivers…

Thanks! Btw, you were right about Rawls last week. Should have listened to your gut, not mine. Luckily, I escaped with a victory after my opponent only put up 70 points. Help me bring the championship home!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Toby: Ah, no worries man, I get plenty wrong too. I’d say use me as a guide to compare or contrast against. Like, your reasons for starting him were completely solid… I was just feeling a little nervous about that many Seahawks in your lineup.

So, for your WR grouping, I’d probably start Cooper, Williams, and Landry there. Good luck!

  14. Not Your Average Joe says:
    (link)

Here’s another one :-D (still more to come!)

Why so high on Baldwin? I ask because it seems like every week Baldwin is ranked pretty high among receivers and almost every week in standard leagues he fails to score double digits (he’s only scored double digits in 4/15 weeks in standard leagues). Are you going off of what NO did to Arizona last week and hoping Peterson is on Lockett and not Baldwin?

I ask because I’m leaning towards starting Rishard and Julio/Gabriel at WR but looking at Baldwin as a flex. I have other options on my team or on the wire but they all make me jittery too (see below). We still have faith in a big game for Baldwin?
Tyreek Hill (Do well against the Broncos?)
Watkins (Has yet to have a great week since returning)
Robby Anderson (Pats vulnerable in the air and he’s the only one Petty can reach)
Shepard (Will he see enough looks?)
Ingram (When he busts, he BUSTS)
Meredith (If Norman is on Alshon, is Meredith a super sleeper?)
Thielen (for lack of any other receiver on that team atm)

  15. Chalupa Batman says:
    (link)

I play in a weird league, which leads to some weird decisions, especially here in the championship. PPR league.

Firstly, WR – Baldwin or Inman. Arizona has been getting lit up by WR the last few weeks.

The weird twist – QB is included in our flex positions, and there are two of them

My options are Stafford, Eli, Kap, Ty Montgomery (play on NFL and he is RB only now), or one of the above WR.

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Chalupa Batman: Leaning Baldwin there, and in your QB flex, I’m thinking Kap.

  16. Bob Casale says:
    (link)

Having a real tough time with 2 decisions for finals in a standard league:

R Jennings or T West (you have T West a little higher than ECR and Jennings a little lower. I’m feeling Giants are a little more committed to run than Balt?)

C Meredith or T Lockett (real tossup but I’m thinking Norman shadows Jeffrey making Meredith the play?)

    What do you think.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Bob Casale: Feeling West there. I understand the thinking, but Chargers aren’t really playing for anything, I could see the Browns having a good running game here. Norman has been all over the field this year, but I think I’m going talent no matter what with Jeffrey.

  17. jayhawks24 says:
    (link)

    What’s good Jay,
Championship Week & somehow the 6th seed slipped in to the finals to face me! #rd & 2nd seed collapsed in successive weeks. On paper, game is over. Kept speculative adds on bottom of bench, negotiated hard, packaged & sold em high to come up with this 12 team PPR juggernaut.
    Me Vs. Him:
    QB Brady v. Ryan
RB Zeke & McCoy v. Blount & Miller
    WR AJ/Julio/Evans v. Crabtree/Sanders/Fuller
    TE Delanie v. Marty B
    Flex DeMarco v. Maclin
    DST Pats v. Vikes
So 1st a big thanks to Razzball for having me up on the adds before anyone else. The Bungles will undoubtedly be trolling tool bags & have AJ as a game time decision. He’s my latest running starter @ WR. Play it safe & start Alshon/Robby Anderson/Mitchell, or roll the dice on AJ. Boyd already owned, so nothing to add if he’s a scratch.
    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@jayhawks24: Yo! Sounds like a tempting matchup! Let’s wait and see one more day on AJ, maybe Friday reports will give us some updates. Otherwise, I think playing it safe is okay here with Jeffrey.

  18. OldMilwaukeePounders says:

    Jay,

Whats good, bro? Week one of my 2 week championship game starts tonight. Here is my projected starters & bench. Any tweaks? Scoring is Standard with some small bonuses that aren’t worth counting on, really.

    Qb – Cousins
    RB – Gore, Howard
    RB/WR – Julio
    WR – Alshon, TY
    WR/TE – Sterling Shepard
    TE – Eifert
    D/ST – Packers
    K – Janikowski

    Bench:
RB – Jennings, Ivory, Michael, McKinnon
WR – Aldrick (in case Julio doesn’t go)
    D/ST – Bengals

Any changes you would consider? Thanks dude!

    • Jay

      Jay says:

    Hey Jaybones,

Need to assemble a monster lineup with what I have. 2 WRs, 2 RB, and a Flex. Let’s make it happen. PPR league. *’s next to who I’m leaning towards. I think Mathews and Sproles is a coin flip? #stress

    WRs:
    Antonio Brown*
    Alshon Jeffrey*
    Devonte Adams*
    Marquis Lee
    Taylor Gabriel

    RBs:
    Jonathan Stewart*
    Ryan Mathews*

    Thanks, dawg.

Man, the ripples of fantasy-ing can be brutal. At this time of year, you really want to be prioritizing DSTs when you waiver wire unless you have a chance at a Montgomery type. Unfortunately, both my ESPN TEs – Reed and Green – are basically unusable this weekend. I had to prioritize Ertz on the wire which left me with garbage DST choices. I see your rankings above, but was hoping for some context to help me decide who to play among the options. It’s ESPN standard scoring so negative points are totally possible, hence I suppose my biggest aspiration for a DST is that their floor is a few positive points and that they won’t implode (i.e. I’d rather 5-7 guaranteed points than an upside of 12 with a downside of -6).

MIA – They’re playing for a berth, and have been a hot DST 2nd half, especially the past two weeks, against teams that allow plenty of points against opposing DSTs (ARI, NYJ), but with duds against pedestrian teams (LA, SF). Buffalo is stingy as heck on opposing DSTs but also lacks any semblance of a good passing game. Any chance Miami can stop McCoy and/or force some TOs and sacks?

Texans – I think you once spoke about DSTs that are better IRL than fantasy because they keep scores low but don’t actually get many TOs. I have higher hopes for Savage than I did for Brock in terms of keeping the HOU DST off the field, but Cincy doesn’t really yield many points to opposing DSTs, win or lose.

Rams – Ugh. In theory, one should want to play anyone going against SF but it feels suicidal to trust championship hopes to an inconsistent defense, especially when the office may be full of 3-and-outs.

Falcons – I think they have higher upside than credited. If they can limit Stewart and rush Newton they may be able to force a lot of throws and let Vic Beasley feast. But just because they did that to the Rams for a billion DST points doesn’t mean they can do that, on the road, against CAR.

Cowboys – On paper they’re not great, but on most weeks they’ve at least not dudded and they’re coming off a good week against TB, and facing a pass happy QB with a bum finger at home. Underrated?

But mostly, I’m looking at a football off season after this week so I’m trying to “shoot the ish” fantasy wise as much as possible before I turn my attention to spring training!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Not Your Average Joe: Yeah, I agree. It’s like flipping around the sript of how to win come this time in the year.

So, I’m probably leaning Texans here, just because they’re still fighting for the playoffs, have been generally solid, and now their offense can click a bit better, not giving away minutes on the field. It’s close with the Rams, and is a coinflip for me, but I think they have some vulnerabilities.

  21. Dorian S. says:
    (link)

    Heya Jay and Gang!

Long time no talk! So my season unfortunately ended when my players laid an egg and I got eliminated from the main playoffs. Currently fighting it out in the Finals of Consolation for the rights to the First Overall Pick in next year’s draft.

I’m looking at my team and wondering who should I keep. League is QB/2RB/3WRTE/Flex/K/2DL/2LB/2DB/6BN. I’m thinking a good idea is doing a 2QB, 2RB, 2WR. However, I’m not sure Siemian is the long term solution in Denver. I mean, yes, they like him, but is he worth a keeper spot? Not sure.

Oh, scoring is too long, but just assume PPR basis, with return yards.

QBs – Marcus Mariota (best trade move ever), Trevor Siemian
RBs – Ezekiel Elliot, Mark Ingram, Tevin Coleman
WRTEs – Mike Evans, Demaryius Thomas, Michael Thomas, Jordan Matthews, Sammy Watkins, Dontrelle Inman

I’m not listing out the rest, but I’ve got Joey Bosa and Kwon Alexander who are interesting options on defense.

I’m thinking though for my 6 keepers, I should probably go with Marcus, Zeke, Evans, M.Thomas, D.Thomas. After that, maybe Siemian just because the Broncos are looking at him as a long term option. I don’t really think Ingram is a good option at RB, plus if I win the #1 overall pick, I can just double down on the best available RB (Leonard Fournette). Considering most people don’t have a strong 2nd RB, this might be the better play.

So frustrated that I was the 2nd highest point total, but I get done in because I had nearly all my opponents put up their best point totals for the season against me (2nd highest against). Like everyone in the playoffs was afraid my 160 point average was going to make it. Yet, I end up losing to a guy without a starting QB who puts up 140 to my 120. And even though I had a player playing who was out, the highest player on my bench (who would’ve been my swap choice had I known) would’ve gotten me to 136, so I’d still be short.

    THIS SEASON~!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Dorian S.: Hey Dorian. That sucks to hear! And yeah, I don’t think Semian is worth a keeper spot. I’d actually keep Bosa, I know my bias is strong here, but if you look at his stats, he’s on the cusp of being an elite LB. I mean, I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if he’s as good as JJ Watt a few years from now.

      • Dorian S. says:
        (link)

@Jay: Frustrating me the most is I based my draft entirely with your guys work and it nearly paid off. I mean averaging 160pts is the cusp of greatness. Even the guys in the main playoffs were like “we’re screwed if you get in”. So of course I don’t.

See that’s what I was wondering. Should I take that last spot and perhaps put it on Bosa. Think I’ll do that unless someone shows me something else. He’s looking really good and you don’t exactly get elite defense for free. I mean, yeah, defense in our league isn’t exactly setting the world on fire, but at the same time. When a defensive player puts up 12-14 a week, vs the average 5-6, that could make or break it.

Also, should I go with the WRs I’m thinking? Evans is a no brainer, but I’m sort of not sure about the Thomas guys. I mean, Drew Brees will only be around for so long and I don’t really trust Siemian. Do I have that in the right place?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Dorian S.: Oh yeah, I hear ya. And yes, I think Bosa could be something special. There’s a lot of metrics out there that look promising.

And yeah, I think you have them in the right place. I don’t think you need to start over and reset, I think you’ll be looking pretty good going into next season based on that list.

    F. Gore- Flex position
    K. Rudolph

    3) def on the wire Pitt, Was, Packers?

@Bluety: I think I like what I see here. On 1, I have them as a coinflip, so I’ll give the edge to Thomas. And yeah, I’d go Dallas there, Lions are kind of a mess on offense right now.

I put in a claim for Ty Montgomery today but not sure if I’m going to start him. Mostly wanted to block my Super Bowl opponent from adding him. @Jay:

Solid, thanks. Fully knowing what your rankings say, its good to see options in a vacuum and weigh floor/ceiling.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@cheese: It’s always tempting to just use the rankings and build a roster based on that, but sometimes it’s better to have a bit of nuance. In this case, I think I would have wanted to stick DT in there, and Hopkins could even be worth a gamble, but with Blount, you have a RB that will at least get a chance in the redzone, and Ty is the boom or bust element.

  25. rick says:
    (link)

    Hey,

If your league gives negative points for Yards against over 350 and Points against over 28. turnovers a plus and follow the std settings. Would you still use the same Ranking? i have Denver and GB DST and not sure which to play?? Also, Seattle was dropped on Waivers (not sure why) and i could possibly get them.

Would you still Rank them SEA, DEN & Gb? Kinda feel like Arizona can put up yards and pts on Seattle and was tilting GB vs Bradford…but what do i know lol

    Thanks!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@rick: I’d use them as a basis, and then probably the top-10% and bottom-10% of the list and give them higher and lower value accordingly. In the case of DST’s, I’d probably lean Packers a bit more, just because I don’t think the Vikings offense can meet those thresholds. That being said, I think you want Seattle a little more, just because you could say the same about the Cards offense, but Seattle has better players.

  26. Wilsonian says:

Ok, need some help here for the championship…

    1) I can play 3 of these guys, who gets the nod?

Alshon, Davante Adams, Tyrel Williams, Jay Ajayi

    2) I have Rudolph and Reed. Brate is available – do I pick him up?

Half PPR – 3 point bonus at 85 yards rec/100 yards rushing – 6 point bonus at 135 yards rec/150 yards rushing

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Wilsonian: Sure thing! 1) I’d say Alshon, Tyrell, and Ajayi. And then yeah, I’d pick up Brate and start him over those two.

      • Wilsonian says:
        (link)

@Jay: thanks man! I appreciate it. I’ll make the moves.

One more question, would you change your mind on Brate at all with Jameis being my QB2?

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Wilsonian: Hmm, I think that benifits you in some ways, the double dip effect… but if Winston has a bad game, it compounds it. Since TE’s are fickle regardless, I might just go for it.

          • Wilsonian says:
            (link)

@Jay: thanks man. Could be worth a gamble. I won last week with Reed at TE, anyway.

Way too many Red Qs on my lineup for the final game. But let’s pretend my Bengals get healthy.

    1. Who would you start given a toss up final game using standard scoring. 1QB, 2 RB, 2WR, 1 Flex
    2. If AJ can not go, who is flex?

    Cousins, Stafford
Bell, J Hill, Farrows the Fumbler
AJ Green , Edelman, A Brown, Inman, Malcolm

        @Jay:

Thank you. That Farrows deal is so concerning. He could blow up. He could sit and watch Hillman take more carries. Who knows. If the weather is decent, I like the Inman play. Or Ginn is on the wire which is tempting in an all or nothing sort of way.

I dropped Brate (who I picked up last week, since I had Gronk and i’ve been streaming since) and picked up Ertz – good play?

Gates is near the touchdown record, so they’ve been focusing him in the redzone a lot.

@Jay: then again, it’s Henry that’s been getting them regardless. ..other team knows that too. ;)

              Jay says:
              (link)

@Greg: Yeah, it’s a fair point. I don’t think Henry is useless, that’s for sure. But I think Rivers will look at Gates a bit more.

@Jay: Witten is kind of a plateu guy. …I’m so confused. ..Injuries this time of year …no reason to play through them. ..sigh.

the NFL is such b.s. if THAT play is a penalty. that play is legal in TOUCH football. the apple “QB hit”

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

Yeah, and nobody knows what a catch is anymore either.

      • Mobin Can't Hack It says:
        (link)

@Jay: the catch stuff has been bad for a longer time though, making a guy who happens to slide into a QB who’s sliding late. both asinine, but the one more easily fixable, just make it like it used to be, IF you try to hit a QB (or hit harder, or head hits) when he’s giving himself up that’s a penalty, but IF you can’t NOT make some contact while also clearly trying NOT to hurt the QB (like apple in our example) that’s no penalty. with he catch stuff it’s from having clearly contradictory rules in place regarding what counts as “possession” at differing instances.

        – what is a catch is like some deep tort law arguing (rules set up such that they are just a mess in and of themselves)
        – the apple “hit” being a penalty is like having jaywalking (non-dangerous) or vagrancy being charges in the law books at all.

        • Jay

          Jay says:

    Ppr league finals .

    Qb – Ryan or luck?
    Rb – freeman
    Rb – ware
    Wr – Julio
    Wr – Nelson
Flex – Jeffrey, Meredith, d . Walker, tyreek hill? (Pick two)

Questions about stating Ryan or luck ? With having freeman and Julio, do you think I’d benefit more by starting Ryan or am I better off starting luck in case Atlanta has a bad day ?

Also, who would you start in those two flex positions?

Thanks for thE help all year .

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Old Dirty: I’m going Luck there in a vacuum, but the way your team is setup, I think you go Ryan to double dip with Julio. The way I see it is, that offense will have a bad day if Ryan does. You’re mitigating some risk, but Julio will still end up getting a zero if that happens too, so the idea of going double upside is attractive. And any time!

Oh, and for the Flex, leaning Jeffery and Hill.

      • Old Dirty says:

    • Jay

@farcus: I don’t think it’s crazy. I’m hesitant just because Benjamin hasn’t had a bankable game on the schedule since the first week, but it could work.

    Standard league:
    Fitz or Inman or Crowder?

You seem to lean Inman over Fitz above. I’m starting Rivers and SD D/ST, so Inman would make me all in on SD v. CLE. My opponent has Cousins, if that’s relevant.

  40. John says:
    (link)

Injury bug making this final game a challenge. He has no decisions to make! I have too many LOL.
    Here are the two teams:

    Mine His
    Cousins Ryan
Bell, J Hill Freeman, L Murray
    Brown, Edelman Nelson, Fitz
Inman or AJ Green. S Smith Sr
    Witten or Ebron. Brate
    Chiefs. Broncos
    Bryant. Janik

ESPN has me as a favorite somehow. I don’t see it as my guys are projected topside.

    1. Which TE?
    2. Hill, AJ still questionable. Starting to lean Inman and benching Green ???? So hard to do but it is one game winner take all.
    3. Which team you like best?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@John: I’d say Witten, and if AJ news doesn’t improve today and tomorrow, Inman for sure, and as far as the teams, I have to call it pretty damn even there. Could go either way. Good luck!

      • john coakley says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Thanks. The timing of the games is tough with Cincy playing tomorrow night and San Diego playing in the morning. What is really scary is if J Hill is out or limited. Then I have to play Burkhead. Or I guess I could go Farrow in the morning and pray. That would give me a lineup of:

Cousins, Bell, Farrow, Brown, Edelman and either J Hill, AJ or Inman depending upon injury report. Somehow this seems unfair to treat the #1 seed this way with the #6 seed getting all the breaks (whine, whine)

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@john coakley: Yeah, it’s pretty tough circumstances. The secondary lineup isn’t the worst in the world, but we really need Cincy to come through for you to really put up a good fight.

          • Johnc says:
            (link)

@Jay: fun stuff. I am happy I traded for Brown four weeks ago despite giving up Melvin. Probably not a great trade but Melvin’s injury made it so.

    Bilal Powell

    • Jay

@Tommy D: Naw on Jeffrey, and I’m tempted to go with San Diego there, the Browns are just a complete dumpster fire. Crowell could do okay, but that’s about it.

          Haha, thanks man!

  42. The imp says:
    (link)

With Eifert out I’m looking at TEs on my PPR wire. Bennett, witten and Ebron are there. Not very confident in any of them, so I guess the logic would be to go with Bennett and hope his higher TD probability pays off? I’m guessing that is why he is ranked a little higher.

    • Mantis Toboggan MD says:
      (link)

@The imp: as much as (we, me for sure) whine about douchebag teams that give fake info/late info CIN’s being really good here announcing hill will play, eifert/burfict ARE out early. i’ll remember them not being shitty like say CHI/NE/WAS (last week with all the “news” about how reed is fine now, that tricked a LOT of people, wonder how many people lost in fantasy playoffs from believing that garbage)

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Mantis Toboggan MD: Yeah, it’s always a tough thing to deal with. I mean, imagine the Vegas people… who actually have skin in the game.

        • Mantis Toboggan MD says:
          (link)

@Jay: this is true, as far as total “skin” but notice how little they actually USUALLY move the lines when a player like eifert goes out, it’s not much. not like if brady/zeke elliot went out or anything like that. i’d bet they move that spread less than 1 from eifert being out. from some lines i can find aj green only cost at most 2 points and he’s a top 20 overall position player. this assuming the opening HOU by 3 line (down to 1 in some spots) was set before knowing about green, which is likely.

all that to say the dropoff in their values isn’t close to what happens to us if say eifert would’ve scored his season healthy average score (16.77, i’m excluding last week when he was hurt and his first week back when he had limited snaps) vs what ebron has been posting since he’s been playing hurt the last month or so (5.65 points, including the zero pt thanksgiving game). we can of course assuming SOME of that eifert values to be higher when green was out sure, but that still probably sets his average at at least 12-13 or so, as he was having pretty big games back when green was completely healthy.

          • Mantis Toboggan MD says:
            (link)

@Mantis Toboggan MD: actually, having checked my rosters by now, pretty much nearly ALL NFL teams this week are better about ruling guys out the night before (or earlier if they play sun/mon) than teams usually are about this. only way i can figure why this might be is that coaches want to do as little work as possible with family obligations likely abounding sat-sun. finally, something other than married with children where families are rewarding for something. yay!

            • Mantis Toboggan MD says:
              (link)

@Mantis Toboggan MD: could also be more likely the players themselves are more likely to rule themselves out knowing they might as well possibly strain the injuries they already have since after their games they also likely have family stuff.

also, anybody that was thinking NE was a good D this week, the coach at NYJ is probably out, either from actually being sick or (more likely) just skipping that shit job he’s been doing. all this to say, i’m sure NYJ will be playing about twice as good as usual, bench that NE D.

  48. Johnc says:

    Need 2 RBs, 2WRs, 1Flex, 1TE

    Bell, J Hill, Burkhead, Farrow,
Brown, Edelman, AJ Green, Inman, Ginn
    Witten, Ebron, Henry

. Unless you see an egregious error, I am going Bell, Hill, Brown, Edelman, and Witten. Flex is between Inman, Ginn and Farrow. Cleveland can not stop slot receivers and tailbacks as well. Hill had his best game v The Browns running right at them so Farrow is tempting. But does he split time with Hillman?? Does he keep fumbling? Inman has to compete with his own running game, weather and Gates, Henry, Benjamin. Ginn is hot and Atlanta’s secondary is weak but He seems like a boom or bust guy this week again. Ugh.

Sitting AJ seems criminal but I just see too many scenarios where he plays sparingly versus a solid secondary. Inman v Farrow is a crapshoot. I usually go RB in weather but Inman actually seems safer! What would your lineup be in a toss up match?
Thanks again for your patience with all of us through the playoffs. We are all just seeking that edge ( maybe confirmation LOL)

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Johnc: No error at all. I like your setup there, it’s a good mix. I think Flex you go Inman. Even against the Browns, Farrow hasn’t shown me much. On AJ, I’d actually wait and see at around game time. The reports, even the visuals they show, how well is he moving, what are they saying about it. I think that’s the best we can do.

      • Johnc says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Reports on AJ this morning look even more suspect. I am going Inman.
Ebron v Witten v Henry my last decision.

          (link)

@Johnc: I think that sounds good. And I’d probably go Ebron now, thinking about it… for a little more upside than Witten without the A.J. play.

Jay this is most likely my last question of the year I appreciate everything you guys did throughout the year your a big reason why I’m still in this.

I need a flex I’m starting Demarco M and have Henry as well I was thinking about sticking Henry in the flex spot over Ginn, Snead or Malcom Mitchell I believe that Tennessee will run heavy in this game as they did last time these 2 played also feel like this, would be my safe option. What would you do if you had to make this decision. I also have Lamar and Hill but both are banged up. Thanks man appreciate it..

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Brian: Thanks for hanging out and good luck! And on your question, I’m feeling Mitchell there. Hunter is okay, but I think most RZ looks this game will go to Gates. I might go Miller still if he goes and I’m feeling okay about the reports, but big unknown right now.

reading that glennon/cutler would be the highest FA QB’s (outside of romo of course). how you rank glennon/cutler/RG3 for future usage (2 QB league stuff where i missed out on savage and still have brock lobster)

    • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: missed out on RG3 too, RG3 dropped by guy who spent 77/100 on savage (day after i could’ve gotten him for free but wasn’t at computer), then another guy beat me to RG3 with a 13/100 vs my 11 (last money left).

          (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: shit, add brock lobster in that ranking longer term. clearly there’s some guesswork in here, but rotoworld at least thinks glennon/cutler are top 2 (they didn’t mention romo/brock lobster, but those 2 are still on contracts)
