With playoffs just a mere few weeks away (your mileage may vary), here are some things I’m doing to prepare my team for the next few weeks. First, handcuff all of your starting running backs. I mean, I wouldn’t drop, say, Jeremy Hill just so I can pickup Alfred Blue, but if you have Rashad Jennings on your bench, it might make some sense to grab Bilal Powell if you’re a Forte owner. Again, the situation varies with every league and format, but hopefully this will give some context. (Also, if you don’t have any handcuffs readily available on the wire, pick up someone else’s or even seek out trades with teams still in it if there wasn’t a deadline.) Actually, now that I think of it, something I also will be doing is looking at the rest of the season’s schedule and if I have room on the roster, looking at ideal matchups for quarterbacks and DSTs. I usually argue against holding two of either on a roster, but as we get further in the season, there’s a lot of factors that make this relevant. First, every point counts, so you have to maximize the fullest potential that your roster can offer. Second, it never hurts having a backup plan ready to go just in case. And this works both ways. I’d look at all the teams trying to make the playoffs and see if they have any depth issues or unfavorable matchup issues, and make a preemptive buy on a player you might not need, but could help them in their final push. Otherwise, just stay the course, now is the time to be the opposite of cute. Like your mother. Try to put the best team out there today and next week, if you see some potential risk/reward type decisions, I would try to find a balance. Get a floor you’re comfortable with first, and then start thinking about risk. And as always, everyone here at Razz is happy to help!

Be sure to check out our Start and Sits for today’s games here, along with Rudy’s updated projections for Week 11 by clicking here. And as always, our updated rankings are available after the jump!

Select the “Flex” tab if you need a more complete picture to decide your starts and sits. Use the “OP” tab for 2QB Leagues. And you can access our Half PPR and PPR rankings using the drop down box in the top left of our rankings when you select the RB, WR, TE, or Flex positions. Any and all questions will be answered below…

    Morning NFL morning!

I should be a decent favorite this week with that in mind, bench one .5 PPR

    Moncrief vs Tenn.
    Landry vs La
    Diggs vs Zona
    Pryor vs Pitt

Right now I have Landry benched, but with starting Pitt D and slight weather worry considering putting Pryor down. Diggs scares me a bit too this week.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@MiggY CaT: We made it to another week! Sounds good. I would bench Landry there, but Pryor was close. If Diggs scares you, I won’t argue, all four are clumped together, so you could make an argument for it.

    (link)

    Jay,
Even before reading your lede (thanks for that…though it is feeding an unhealthy obsession about the move I’ll discuss below), I have been revisiting the idea of carrying two QBs in 12 team ppr with 1Q/3W/no flex starters. I currently own:
    Eli
Hilton, Edelman, Crabtree, JMatt and Meredith

Adding Winston would set up these matchups:
    11 Eli v CHI (Winston @ KC)
    12 Eli @ CLE (Winston v SEA)
    13 Winston @ SD (Eli is @ PIT…bad match/on road)
14 Winton v NO (Eli is v DAL)
    15 Eli v DET (DET #2 easiest D, Winston @SEA)
16 Winston @ NO (Eli is @ PHI bad match and on road)

Yesterday I convinced myself to hold for one game to get a better sense of Meredith’s value and make sure (knock on wood) nobody gets hurt. Winston has lived on the wire all week and has SEA next week, so he won’t be a very attractive streaming target. Palmer is also still on the wire.

When would you make the drop for Winston?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@the imp: Of course! And this is exactly a perfect point that I wanted to express above. I might pick up Winston in Week 12, since no one will want that matchup, keep him on your bench, and then use the most updated info then to stream and matchup.

      • the imp says:
        (link)

@Jay: Follow up tangent. Is your ranking of Eli below Bortles weather related? I’m assuming that it is still more or less a coin flip between the two unless the weather is pretty bad in NY.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@the imp: Yeah, that’s certainly part of it. We’re getting some of this wind in DC too, and it’s pretty bad.

          • The imp says:
            (link)

@Jay: So go get Bortles for a safer floor? I’m a modest favorite who is looking for a QB to match Brees’ th night.

            • Jay

              Jay says:
              (link)

@The imp: Eh, you know, I was updating rankings, I think it’s a coinflip. Bortles is safer, because of the wind, but I think this is game time decision. If the wind dies down a little, which could happen, say 10 MPH, it should be fine to go with Eli.

              • the imp says:
                (link)

@Jay: 20-25 mph sustained winds with gust to 50 in both NYC and Cleveland is the latest forecast.

                • Jay

                  Jay says:
                  (link)

@the imp: yeah, hasn’t died down here either. Probably going Bortles.

                  • The imp says:
                    (link)

@Jay: well Bortles comes in last (by a handful of points) v the other 3 QBs I was considering. Sorry for wasting so many of our brain cells on my feckless QBs. Thank The Gods I have the DTrain and Hilton to make up for all that. Hope McCoy is alright.

  3. Hometown Heroes says:
    (link)

Standard league who should I go with for my flex? Starks or Hopkins. I am playing a team with Rodgers and it will be a close one. Should I cancel some points or roll the dice with Hopkins and hope he actually does something.

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Hometown Heroes: Maaaaan, can you even imagine asking this question a few months ago? This is truly the darkest timeline. I think you go Hopkins, but it’s stupid how close this is.

  4. Old Dirty says:
    (link)

Td only league…total points, no match-ups

Would you prefer Big Ben or Matt ryan ROS?

Big Ben was dropped after his injury and still not picked up….

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Old Dirty: I’d go Ben there, but it’s close.

  5. Chewie says:
    (link)

    Good morning grand master Jay!

.5 ppr league we start 3 WRs so far I have it set up as

    WR1 moncrief
    WR2 Baldwin
    WR3 Dez

    Flex I have Nuk Hopkins

Leave as is or bench any of the above listed WRs for Danny amendola? Thinking Amendola will get extra looks with no gronk + no hogan.

How do you like my team vs my roster I don’t have a good feeling this week lol

    Here’s my team:

    QB: Dak Prescott

    RB1: David Johnson
    RB2: Jeremy hill

    WR1: moncrief
    WR2: Baldwin
    WR3: Dez

    TE: CJ Fiedorowicz

    Flex: Hopkins

    Defense: Miami D

    Kicker: Crosby

    —————————

    Opponents team:

    QB: Winston

    RB1: Demarco Murray
    RB2: Gurley

    WR1: Beckham
    WR2: Evans
    WR3: devante Parker

    TE: Ertz

    Flex: ajayi

    Defense: Rams D

    Kicker: vinatieri

    Thanks bud!!

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Chewie: I like the setup you have. I’d be sacred of Murray and Gurley putting together a strong game. Otherwise, both teams are close. I could see you winning, but it’s a tough one, for sure.

  6. MindlessOne says:
    (link)

Hi Jay, as a Howard owner, you think I should trade C Mike for Langford?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@MindlessOne: Yeah, I’d do that, for sure.

      • MindlessOne says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Yeah I suppose…so you don’t see C Mike reaching fantasy relevance at GB? I mean, guys always jump to new teams mid season and crush it. Hillman, Knile Davis…

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@MindlessOne: We’ve all been waiting on C-Mike for three years now I think. I like him in GB though, and I would normally take a gamble, but I think shoring up your roster is more ideal heading into the playoffs.

  7. Toby says:
    (link)

Pivotal week in my standard scoring league and not crazy about any of my WR match ups. I have Cooper, Landry and Diggs all facing top DSTs. Thinking of benching Landry for Royal since it seems like he has a lower floor and ceiling but wanted to get your thoughts.

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Toby: Yeah, I think that’s an okay move here. I do think Diggs will be okay, so if you want to go for it with Royal, I can see it.

    • The Harrow says:
      (link)

@Toby: i’m guessing we won’t speak of royal being a lower floor than landry anymore now.

  8. PaulZone says:
    (link)

I take it by your TE ranks, you’d start Zach Miller over Ladarius right?

    1/2 point ppr

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@PaulZone: Yeah, I’m liking Miller today, for sure.

  9. Bob says:
    (link)

Greetings, half ppr league. How do you like Greg Olsen ROS? Offer my doug Baldwin for Greg Olsen? I’m not going to over pay but he does need a WR seeing as his best WR would be either Tavon Austin or John Brown.
I just want to make sure it’s fair since he is a last place team wouldn’t want slack from other owners. Plus thinking could get Olsen cheaper since he’s been slumping.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Bob: I like him and I think that’s a fair deal in a PPR format like yours.

  10. andrewm says:
    (link)

Hey jay hope is good. I need 2 RBs
    Murray
    Kelly
    Howard?
And would you go tyreek hill over Jones Jr

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@andrewm: all is good, thanks! I’d say murray and howard with jones still.

  11. porzingod says:

deep league question: which one do you think carve out more meaningful role (this week or down the stretch)? dwayne washington or akeem hunt?

  12. MiggY CaT says:
    (link)

Weather shaping up to be a factor esp in Cleveland and NYC. Totals are dropping hard. Washington as well to a lesser effect.

Going to bench Pryor with this wind going strong for Landry.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@MiggY CaT: ir think that’d be fine. I livebin DC… wind is going to be a huge factor.

      • MiggY CaT says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

        Enough to effect Reed?

It’d have to be really bad to bench him, but Enbron is viable.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@MiggY CaT: no, I think keep Reed in there. Short passes are going to be the name of the game.

  13. bn says:
    (link)

    Ppr league pick three
coleman, shephard, jj nelson, jordan matthews, woods

Feel like jj nelson might be the only thing the cards can get going today

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@bn: yeah, I’m okay with that. I’d sit hogan and matthews.

  14. Frank says:
    (link)

Need a QB, pt per completion league…

    Dalton
    Kaep
    Flacco

    • Frank says:
      (link)

      @Frank:

      Dalton vs BUF
      Kaep vs NE
      Flacco @ DAL

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Frank: Dalton is the safe pick, but I’ll say this. I own Rivers everywhere, so for some reason I’m streaming Kap. Totally not what I would suggest, but my own gut call.

      • Frank says:
        (link)

        @Jay:

Thanks. Rivers is actually the QB on bye that I need to replace his week.

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Frank: yep, hate that it’s coming this late.

        • Frank says:
          (link)

@Frank: One more Dixon or Kelley 1pt ppr

          • Jay

            Jay says:
            (link)

            @Frank: Kelley, kidna close.

  15. Pete says:
    (link)

Similar question as above, except it’s Dalton, Kaep, or Winston and no point per completion. I’ve got Rivers on bye.

    • Pete says:
      (link)

@Pete: ha, seeing your reply. maybe go Kap?

      • Pete says:
        (link)

@Pete: (I currently have Winston, so I don’t know if I should consider that for go forward purposes too)

      • Jay

        Jay says:
        (link)

@Pete: yeah, I’m going kap there, so misery loves company!

  16. Andrew says:
    (link)

Doug Martin @KC or Procise cs PHL in Half PPR this week?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      Prosise there.

  17. Andrew says:
    (link)

Kelley vs Green Bay or Starks @ Washington in standard league?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Andrew: probably Kelley. Hard to trust starks or green bay at all right now.

  18. Pete says:
    (link)

you’d go Bennett over howard in flex in PPR as you have ranked above, right?

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@Pete: Yeah, in PPR, for sure.

  19. Zandy says:
    (link)

Sit Eli for Carr given weather? Over under just dropped 4.5 pts

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

      @Zandy: Yeah, I think so.

      • Zandy says:
        (link)

        @Jay: done. Thanks!

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

          @Zandy: No worries!

  20. PublicEnemy#1 says:
    (link)

Must start two in a PPR: D Martin, Gurley, Prosise, DIxon

      • PublicEnemy#1 says:
        (link)

@Jay: Thanks and good luck in your match-ups today!

  21. JJ what says:
    (link)

ROS te issues. I have Ebron and Ladarius frees on roster. Should I drop one for fiedo or Miller?

    • JJ what says:
      (link)

      @JJ what: standard scoring.

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

@JJ what: I wouldn’t mind going MIller for Green there.

  22. Zeke says:
    (link)

I’m in a tight race.. I had the upper hand based on “projections” but meridith, dez, AB, Elliot all posting below avg..

    I’m now projected to lose..

    Play kaepernick or Derek Carr?

    Thanks

    • Jay

      Jay says:
      (link)

Tough one. Carr is the smart play still I think. Kap is a wild choice. Going with him a lot this week, but I find it hard to recommend it.

      • Zeke says:
        (link)

@Jay: I’m now projected to win by 10 pts… thanks to a nice half by dez but other guy has mariota keeping pace.

Leaning Carr probably? I agree it’s though I think Carr has a higher floor but kaepernick higher ceiling

        • Jay

          Jay says:
          (link)

@Zeke: Yeah, I think I would agree with that assessment. If the matchup is close, probably stick with Carr. If you start falling behind, go with Kap. Not much time left, but I think it’s a gut call. (I am going Carr if it’s me though, to avoid being wishy-washy.)

      • Let Us Now Praise Famous Death Dwarves says:
        (link)

@Jay: thinking carr has higher ceiling and floor. there’s at least a pretty good reason he started year with a job.

My week ended pretty fast – AJ Green and Robert Woods out early with injuries

    • Jay

      Jay says:

@William Hung: Yeah, everyone is dropping like flies for Cincy. Maybe they should change their name to the Chargers.

    • Mike in Busan says:
      (link)

@William Hung: right there with you, man.
My first five picks in my 12 team ppr: AJ Green, Gronk, Alshon, Latavius, Woodhead. I’m about to be 6-5 and have no idea how I stay relevant if Green is out for any length of time.

  24. Project Merkin says:

Need a flex play. Deshaum or TY Mongomery. I’m in a close one.

    • Jay
