DocJuly 27, 2010 Category: 2010 Fantasy Football, 2010 Fantasy Football Rankings

There are many wide receivers out there.  I have over 100 ranked below and still am missing a few would be contributors.  Once you get passed the top 50 or so a lot depends on opportunity and what happens in training camp.  But these are my base rankings and I will continue to update as news beats us over the head.

    So Gonzalez > Collie as the Colts’ slot receiver?

  2. # 2 Doc Says:
    Doc July 27th, 2010 at 8:45 pm

    @Howie: Yeah, that’s one of those camp battles we need to watch, but I see AGonz winning the #3 position.

    Were these rankings before or after TO signed with Cincy? I really think he has some gas in the tank, so he could outperform your estimate. Now, if he could actually stop dropping the ball so much…..

    @Doc: I’m picking 7th in a 12-team PPR league. Do you think Andre Johnson makes sense for me at #7? Would Rashard Mendenhall be OK there.

    In your opinion, what is the best round 1-round 2 strategy for overcoming the fact that I’ll miss out on the Big Four RBs?

    Thanks.

  5. # 5 Doc Says:
    Doc July 28th, 2010 at 10:47 am

    @Giacomo: they were, but unless Bryant is truly injured (which he might be) I think TO will be more of a possession receiver and that offense is still fairly conservative.

    @Eric H.: It is a tough spot. I would be happy with AJ there, but I have a feeling he’ll go 5 or 6. I could see going with Fitz or Wayne there and grabbing Charles in the second. I do like Mendy there as well. In ppr I do believe RBs are a little deeper and I would make sure to grab a WR either 1st or second.

    Who will be better this year:
    The kenny britt listed at #38, or the kenny britt listed at #41?

  7. # 7 Doc Says:
    Doc July 28th, 2010 at 3:35 pm

    @amscalone: Kenny Britt #38, duh

  8. # 8 Howie Says:
    July 28th, 2010 at 7:15 pm

    @Doc: Doc, a little different angle on the question you answered regarding what to do if the “Big 4 RBs” are gone… I’m in an eight-team league and have the #5 pick (as well as #12 in the serpentine second round). There is a distinct chance those four will be snatched up when I’m set to go…with only eight teams– would you still go AJ and then a RB at the #12 spot? What if Rodgers or Brees were there at #12? Would getting 2 RBs and 2 WRs be mission critical before even thinking about a QB?
    Thanks for the thoughts…

  9. # 9 Doc Says:
    Doc July 28th, 2010 at 7:49 pm

    @Howie: As long as you only need 1 QB you should be able to choose from very good starters. I would wait on QB and grab your RBs and WRs first.

  10. # 10 Howie Says:
    July 28th, 2010 at 7:53 pm

    @Doc: Yep…one QB (2 RB, 2WR, 1TE, K) league. Thanks again.

  11. # 11 James Says:
    August 15th, 2010 at 1:22 am

    To me, it seems your rankings/projections on Mike Thomas, Josh Morgan, and Laurent Robinson were more optimistic, while your outlook on Chris Chambers felt too low, and your burial of Manningham at 91 seems like the drinking was well out of hand by the tail end of the list. Your thoughts?

  12. # 12 Doc Says:
    Doc August 15th, 2010 at 12:48 pm

    @James: Robinson was on his way to a decet season when he was hurt last year, Morgan is the #2 on a team I think will pass more. Manningham will get beat out by Nicks.
