First off, I’ll admit I don’t think my ranking is ground-breaking with Trent Richardson. He was already a consensus top 10 pick but while others have placed him as a low level associate, I’m moving him up the ladder and promoting him to CFO (Chief Fantasy Officer) for my company, Weekly Rankings Inc as the #3 RB for the week. Lets face facts: Dolphins sleep with one eye open. Now lets face facts more relevant to the topic at hand: the Ravens are not the defense they used to be and that was true even before the Webb and Lewis loss. Now? Baltimore is giving up the 5th most points to opposing running backs. Even when Terrell Suggs came back, the Houston Texans managed 37 carries, 181 yards and 2 touchdowns on them. Of course, Arian Foster accounted for more than half of that and the two TDs but you get the point. T-Rich has a himself a golden ticket and he’s headed to the chocolate factory…I think that’s a good thing. And with that, just a few more differences. I like Denarius Moore *pinky to mouth* MORE than others along with my recent WR3 crush, Darrius Heyward-Bey. And then there’s Jacob Tamme facing off against a team that gives up the 6th fantasy points to tight ends. Can’t see how he’s ranked outside the top 15, let alone the top 10 but here I am pointing it out like it’s news. So on with the rankings. May your team be mighty this week and your Halloween costume from last night not have been this and if it was…well I hope you drank enough not to care.

Should I start CJ spiller or James Jones in .5 ppr?
I’d still go CJ there.
Where do you rank TE J.Cook ? Is he not top 15 due to his match-up? Matty H. Vows to get him the ball more…
Against a Bears defense that gives up the least amount of fantasy points to opposing QBs, I’m sure Matt would like to get him the ball but he’s going to have a hard time doing it.
DaHBey, Andre Roberts, Felix Jones, or Alex Green at Flex? (Palmer is at QB – bye week filler)
Felix
Two questions today:
1. In the latest drop in my league, Greene has been put on waivers. Is Jones still better (Murray owner, PPR) or would you be tempted to pick up Greene because he might stay (for him) hot?
2. Didn’t get Pettigrew and am considering Bennett for a one week play. What did you see to keep him out of your top 15 this week?
Thanks!
1) I’d own Greene just for the depth.
2) Just better matchups for other players coupled with a not so great matchup vs PIT. Nothing wrong with rolling with him for a week, just think there are better plays out there.
@Sky, Naive follow up question. My opponent only has LSH and Pierre T due to byes. A playoff competitor has only Mendy and Ballard due to byes. Am I better off holding Jones (who they could use) and not putting in a claim for Greene (who they can’t…at least for now)? Or is this big time overthinking?
@iMP, So this is a waivers question? Confused. Most waivers have cleared. Jones’ value is linked solely to being an RB1, at which he’s been terrible. Greene’s value is the same but at least it won’t change anytime soon. Greene makes the most sense ROS.
@Sky, Guys who are dropped go on waivers for the day they are dropped +1 day no matter when they are dropped in my league. That is why I don’t always end up picking up guys I ask you about. I have to compete for them via a waiver order. I also end up having time to figure out more and more reasons to make or not make a change, as in this case. I am still worried about giving my opponent a terrible RB to play in place of his god-awful bye week replacements, but from the point-of-view of my own roster I fully agree with your take on Jones vs. Greene.
I am a huge fan of Jacquizz and, because of injuries and other factors, his owner has just cut him. We have 4 bench spots in my league. Mine are currently being filled by Arizona D/Miami D (depending on the matchup); A. Brown (Giants); Titus Young (picked up 2 weeks ago); and K. Rudolph (backup for Witten). It’s a PPR league.
Is it worth dropping either Brown, one of my defenses, or Rudolph to go after Jacquizz?
Yeah, not really big on the idea of holding two defenses. Drop one and go for it.
Please rank these recievers…i need to start 3
Bryant
DHB
S Johnson
T Smith
Hartline
I already ranked them in the rankings…
lol
Need to start one at OP(QB2) with Brady on Bye…yeah, I know, its rough…
Hasselbeck vs. Bears
Skelton @ GB
Gabbert vs. Det
Moore @ IND???
I’d say Moore at Indy but I don’t know if he’s actually starting over Tannehill this week. Man, this really is ugly…I’d go Skelton.
PPR league and looking to lock up my flex spot.
Please help pick one : Bradshaw/Maclin/Santana Moss
I’ll almost always go RB in a flex: Bradshaw.
I see Bennett is out of the top 15 and I am inclined to agree, whats the reason for this “phase out” after the first 4 games? I have limited waiver options this week thinking about rolling the dice with Bennett. Olsen is on waivers but im starting J-Stew dont know if I can roll with two panthers in such a weak offense. Other options Cook, Gresham, Tamme.
Still not a beliver in Roddy White at home I see haha
Yeah, bad matchup this week and current performance has put a bit of a damper on him. Who knows, maybe my fears of him not being motivated enough to be a good player this year have come to fruition. That’s really seemingly been the only thing holding him back…well that and Witten.
Personally not ever that worried about rolling with two players in those circumstances. I only care about the matchup. I think Tamme’s week should be good, I’d pick him up if you’re averse to two Panthers.
Ha, I think that was actually a goof on my part. Thought I read the matchup as away. Don’t be surprised if I change it on the fantasypros side before the weekend starts :)
@Sky,
Looking to trade instead of relying on the WW this week. I am offering Big Ben as Ryan will be my starter ROS and I feel like Ben’s stock is as high as it will be (He has Eli and no backup). He has Miller and Gates. Who would you want ROS in return?
I’d want Miller
Fair value for Ben? Can Miller Time really keep up this unbeleivable pace?
Any QB sell will usually be an ‘undersell’ truthfully considering they lead most leagues in scoring nowadays. The Steelers offense isn’t taking many downfield shots and are working it to the 3rd and 4th option in most passing sets. For that reason, Miller should continue to be a top TE threat ROS. Couple that with his red zone targets, he has a strong shot at staying top 5 TE.
I’ve got a trade offer that involves me moving RG III for Trent Richardson. I am considering it, would this be a decent move?
Depends who your QB is when RGIII goes. As long as the other QB is a top 7 or 8 fantasy QB, I’d do it most likely.
@Sky, My other QB is Rodgers. The deal also involves me giving up Fred Jackson or Spiller and would look like this:
RG III and Fred Jax or Spiller for T-Rich and Vincent Jax
Vincent Jackson would be my WR 2 which is in need of a big upgrade.
Yeah go for it
@Sky, the trade has evolved to the following, still a good deal in your opinion?
RG III, Spiller and Jackson for T-Rich, V Jax, and Dwyer.
that gives me
Rodgers
Harvin
V Jax
Alfred Morris
T-Rich
Reggie Bush
Gronk
this is still an upgrade, right?
Choose one for flex this week…
Maclin,Cobb,Titus Y, CJ spiller
Standard league
Thanks
Cobb
Really like the Harvin ranking, a lot of people are down on him this week bcause of the matchup. Seems to me that the oversized Seahawk secondary has a difficult time with quick x type recievers (wes welker, titus young) I think that if the Vikings game plan correctly we could be looking at a really impressive game. Not to mention this guy is the #2 receiver in terms of yards only behind Brandon Marshall he is an every week must start regardless of matchup.
@Murph,
#2 in the NFC (Receiving Yards)
Yeah, sometimes people get a bit nutty about matchups. Harvin just plays on too many different parts of the field to be held in check. They always find a way to get him the ball whether it’s running it, quick screen, etc. Heck, he’s even a returner. All it would take is a return TD and a few catches here and there and boom, good week for him.
In a league where TE scoring is tweaked to make them fairly even with typical RB scoring. I have a couple of flex spots available this week; which two of Reggie Bush, Rashad Jennings, and Jermaine Gresham should I start?
Interesting…trying to figure out how that would work but I’d still go Reggie.
@Sky, our scoring system (and league) is ridiculously complicated, which is awesome. All scoring is set really low. Basically TE get 1 point/10yd receiving, and RB get 1/20yd rushing. No PPR. Top scoring RB this season (Foster) has 92 points to date (Rice is 2nd with 67), and top TE (Gronk) has 95 to date (Miller is 2nd w/ 69). Year to date, Bush has 44, Jennings 15 and Gresham 41.
Very intriguing…seems like a league that caters to QBs, though, unless there’s something restricting them.
@Sky, it definitely has been QB-heavy. We actually modified QB scoring this season to bring them a little closer as well. Now QB just get 1/50yd passing, and passing TD score just 4 points compared to 6 for rushing/receiving TD. Still QB-heavy (Rodgers has 118 this year) but not quite as much.
Right. One of my leagues I try to give credit where credit is due without diluting talent. We have PPrush (you get 0.1 point for every rush), 0.5 PPR, Return yards 25 for 1 point, and +/- complete/incomplete at 0.1 points per. Yardage outside of that is fairly standard (1 point for 10 yards rush/rec and for 50 yards passing). The big thing is TOs (-2) vs touchdowns (4 points for rush/rec TD and 3 for Pass TDs). Puts guys like Fitzpatrick and Dalton in their place so their 350 yards for 3 touchdowns to go with 4 TO doesn’t really play out as well.
Anyways, glad to see some modding. Needs to be more of it in my opinion to represent the stats of the players involved across FFB.
Should I start Maclin or Leshoure in the flex spot?
LeShoure
Sky,
In a 12 team PPR league:
My WR’s are
P. Harvin
D. Bryant
K. Britt
G. Jennings
My Backs are
R. Rice
C. Spiller
J. Stewart
M. LeShoure
M. Bush
D. Brown
I need a WR3 as Britt isn’t getting it done, Jennings hurt. Would you feel comfortable trading Spiller for Steve Smith to fill that WR3 and going forward with Rice, Stewart, Brown, LeShoure, Bush at RB?
Is Smith enough value to get for Spiller?
Thanks man.
@Thrilla, It’s fine in terms of value but I hold pretty tight to my RB depth. That trade wouldn’t be for me but it’s reasonable.
@Sky, Agreed. Do these details change anything regarding the S. Smith for Spiller trade?
I’m 2-6 (with Rodgers too, riddle me that) and obviously can’t afford to lose again (6 teams are 4-4).
Spiller is @HOU this week, Smitih is @WAS. Smith would start for Britt and LeShoure in Spiller’s spot.
Thought?
@Thrilla, Yeah, doesn’t really change my stance. Like I said, it’s reasonable but think ROS you’ll get more value out of an RB than a WR.
Hi Sky,
Thanks for these!
Trying to determine a flex for my ppr league.
Looking at Law Firm, Brent Celek or Jermichael Finley. Any thoughts?
Thanks!
@Bermingham, Cool, glad they’re helpful!
PPR, I’d give Celek a go. Denver is a sneaky good defense.
you think i am giving up too much for chi def:
i give torrey smith, donald brown, and mia def for chi def and mike bush.
I am not starting brown or smith but are my first reserves, 12 team league
@nickerboxer, Yeah, not really hip on spending skill position starters for a defense. Trade not for me.
Flex help?
Bowe, A. Roberts, T. Smith, Ballard, A. Greene, Starks
Cheers
@Comatose, give Bowe a go
12 team flex – no ppr
Spiller @ Hou
C.Johnson v. Chi
Den Moore vs. TB
Maclin @ NO
Non-PPR, I’d go D-Moore & Johnson
Man, I hope you are right with your Denarius Moore prediction. He has been a nice pick up this season. Do you see him finishing the year with WR2 stats, or is he still just a higher end WR3?
He’s got the targets and the schedule to be a WR2 ROS. I liked him and DHB coming into the season; Palmer and those two are gelling at the right time, IMHO, for a nice second half fantasy run for those who have them.
@Sky, Nice, I hope so, because all I had at WR was Harvin and a bunch of WR3′s. He would have easily been the steal of my draft if I didn’t get Alfred Morris with my second to last pick.
Ha, nice! Yeah, I think the only thing holding Denarius back since last season has been his health. I do like Oakland players a lot for ROS in general.
Dilemma…
I have Kyle “frieken” Rudolph as my only TE.
I was offered Gates for Mike Williams. My other WR’s are Torrey Smith, Julio Jones, Brandon Lloyd, and Randall Cobb.
3 Questions:
1) Would you accept the trade?
2) Would you rather give up a different WR for him?
3) Should I hang onto Kyle “frieken” Rudolph?
Thanks!
1) No
2) No, I don’t like Gates
3) I would, it’s been more Ponder than it has been Rudolph. Still the redzone guy he was earlier in the season, Ponder just needs to do a better job getting them there.
+.5 PPR…pick 1
Titus Young @ JAX, CJ Spiller @ HOU, Alex Green vs ARI
+.5 PPR….also pick 1
Emmanuel Sanders @ NYG, or Joique Bell @ JAX
And does your answer change with the news that Leshoure returned to practice today?
Give T. Young a shot
Bell all the way, LeShoure doesn’t change the view.
Pick 2 – 10 man PPR (WR/Flex)
Stevie Johnson
Bradshaw
Bowe
Cobb
Also Vick or RGIII?
Bradshaw/Cobb
RGIII
hi, 10-team .5ppr 2rb,3wr,flex (wr/te/rb). 15-week no playoffs. please advise.
I was offered Jon Stewart for MY Heath Miller (I also own Hernandez). Pierre Thomas/Vick Ballard are my RB3/4 and have T-Rich on bye next week. Also, have Hernandez bye this week. Would you accept? wait till next week? Would use Heath Miller or S.Rice as flex otherwise
Thanks
better off trading hernandez instead?
I’d wait until after this weekend just to make sure Stew performs up to what he should. Miller or Hernandez is fine; would prefer to trade the guy whose had spotty health all year.
@Sky, James Jones for Heath Miller. Do you have the same sentiments?
My WRs are Megatron, Maclin, Young Sr, S.Rice. He also has AJ Green, Mike Wallace, M.Colston, D.Thomas so hes loaded there.
Thanks
@timmy riggins, Yeah, I haven’t been a James Jones fan all season. Don’t think that’s a good trade at all. Any of his other WRs would be nice but you’re not getting them with Heath.
Would you start Vick against that fantasy delicious D of New Orleans or put RG3 out there?
RGIII
I took my last trade back after considering it was just me trying to make up for not accepting the blockbuster.. i got AP for dougie fresh and a brown.. i dunoo why he wants to get rid of peterson so bad but… Ill take it!
Brees, romo, cruz, julio, james jones, amendola, AP, morris, gates, magahee. Not bad right? Everything else just feels like shizz when i coulda had lynch and ap.
Good to hear. Your team is in good shape. Don’t beat yourself up too much. Sounds like even if you’d accepted it the guy would’ve asked to renege on the trade anyway.
I need to dabble into the WR pool this week.. dont trust britt to plug in against chicago. Im lookin at broyles.. but mike thomas just got signed, does that send broyles back down the depth chart? And i heard somethin like thomas would be the PR for the lions now as well.. is this true? If so i might just boom or bust it with thomas and hope for a td and sum return yards… But broyles seems like the more solid option(but not so solid) out of the two. Trust me, theres not many receivers out there in this league. Haha
Thanks sky!!
13 recs on the season on a team that had Blackmon and a concussed Laurent Robinson…don’t see Mike Thomas being anything more than WR depth. Don’t know about the kick returns but considering the ones Logan has muffed this year, I wouldn’t be surprised; that said, wouldn’t pick him up. If it’s between those two, I’d be giving Broyles a shot.
@Sky, you right.. but this team also had a guy named Blaine on it.. haha ill shoot for broyles and hope for the best! Thanx for your input on both of my questoons man! It is much appreciated!
Ha, no problem. BTW, that team with the guy named Blaine on it has Cecil Shorts so…let’s just agree that Blaine definitely limits things, it’s clear it can be played through.
I have a 2 part question.
1) with MJD hurt and Gore w/ a bye, I need to pick between Turner & Green for my RB2 in my PPR league. I know you ranked Turner higher, but the Dallas defense doesn’t concern you, while AZ is supposed to be a bit more lax against the run?
2) since I have Gates, I have a chance to pick up Keller. Do you think he is a good TE to pick up given my current situation, and who would you drop to pick him up? Mendenhall or Green?
Or since my WR are Nicks, Wallace, Bowe and Floyd, is Floyd droppable?
Thanks
1) Alex averaged 2.5 ypc on 22 carries last week vs a Jags defense that gives up the 4th most points to opposing backs. He’s been given 3 games with 20+ carries and his best ypc came against Houston at 3. Just hasn’t done much for me to really get behind him despite being his team’s RB1. He’s akin to Shonn Greene for me right now.
2) Rather than sitting on him, try and trade Gates to a believer; maybe a 2-1 for a TE upgrade rather than trying to lose players from your current team. Not huge on Keller.
