And another one… These injuries man, do they ever stop? Can we go a week this season without a slew of catastrophic injuries that impact all of our teams? This week, the Gods of Football claimed Patriots star receiver and JCC flag football legend Julian Edelman. As if it wasn’t bad enough that Dion Lewis was stripped from all our lives last week, this week we lose a top-5 PPR asset. You know the old expression; the Giants defense giveth and the Giants defense taketh away. At this point, we should all be pretty familiar with the immediate pickup in the wake of OG King Julian’s injury. It’s old pal and wavier wire Week 7 darling Danny Amendola. Now, when Danny isn’t rocking suits with no belt (ever heard of a tailor?), he’s acting as the second receiver in the Patriots machine of an offense. Just 30% owned in Yahoo leagues (and an even lower 21% on ESPN), Amendola should be your top priority add this week. I’d expect WR2 numbers from ole’ Danny from here on out. This is going to be one of your few plug and play adds heading into the playoffs, so claim away.

Quarterbacks

Brian Hoyer (Yahoo 17% – ESPN 18.3%) – “Okay Ralphie what are you sipping on?” That’s you after seeing that I’m advocating a buy for a QB facing the Jets. While yes, it tis true that I’m an advocate for Hoyer, it has zero to do with this week, and everything to do with a week 12 matchup with the Saints porous defense. Not only does Tom Brady’s former understudy get a cushy date with the Saints in week 12, it’s followed by three more dates with AFC South defenses. Hoyer has top 12 QB potential ROS. But hey what do I know? I only told you to drop Peyton Manning and pick Hoyer up in week 7. So basically between Hoyer and Amendola I’m re-publishing my post from that week.

Brock Osweiler (Yahoo 1% – ESPN .3%) – Let’s just get this out of the way, he’s 6’8. No matter what you’ve read about the 4th year pro in the past two days, it’s a given that his height was mentioned. So there you go I gave you a height reference. What you’ve possibly also heard is that he’s got a big arm (literally! I mean he’s 6’8) and the ability to scramble. Both assets that are a perfect potential fit in Gary Kubiak’s system, which is bootleg heavy. Well at least it was until a hobbled Peyton Manning was his starting QB. So in theory Osweiler is a better fit for Denver’s offensive system than Manning. In fact, there are even some conspiracy theories floating around in cyber-space that Manning’s injury is a farce and really an elaborate ruse to not embarrass the all-time great. That’s neither here nor there…. Don’t be shocked if Denver’s offense gets a boost from Osweiler, turnover permitting. I mean it can’t get much worse, can it?

Running Backs

Jay Ajayi (Yahoo 18% – ESPN 9%) – Just when Lamar Miller gets going, and all his owners, me included, start to trust him, does another potential touch-suck emerge. The thing is Ajayi is not your typical touch-suck (see Williams, Andre), because though he dropped to the 5th round in this year’s draft, he had a stellar career at Bosie State. In fact many said coming into the season that Ajayi was a great sleeper pick in deep dynasty formats, and I would say they’re correct. Now bursting onto the 12 team re-draft radar, Ajayi looks like a true threat in the running game. Don’t be shocked if the rook starts to get a big chunk of Lamar Miller’s running downs and goal-line work. In fact if Miller goes down Ajayi bursts into the RB1 convo.

James White (Yahoo 39% – ESPN 36.8%) – Welp looks like last week’s question has been answered. It’s White that will take over passing back duties. as his snaps were almost triple Brandon Bolden’s. Don’t be surprised if White emerges from the shadows this week against the Bills. I mean someone’s got to catch the ball, no?

Tim Hightower (Yahoo 0%- ESPN 0%) – WTF?!? Wait Tim Hightower is alive? Didn’t this dude lose his job to Beanie Wells once upon a time? Yup, he also out touched Mark Ingram this week for the Saints. As I said a few weeks ago following Khiry Robinson’s injury. Someone’s going to get his touches but it won’t be Ingram. I’m not sure I’d go as far as picking up Hightower, but unlike last week I, A) know he’s alive B) Know he could factor into the mix in the Saints backfield.

Wide Receivers

Jamison Crowder (Yahoo 9% – ESPN 9.3%) – That’s Crowdah, Crowdah, I’ll kill you!!!! I’ll kill all of you!!!! Don’t know what I’m talking about? Laugh now and google later, that’s my motto. Actually I google at least 9-10 Grey comments/jokes a month, because I’m sheltered, and learning is fun. As for Crowder or as my family and friends call him Crowdah, he’s been emerging from the shadows of Washington’s passing game. BTW the RedSticks offense is a rather shadowy place, sort of like the red light district on the dark-side of the moon shadowy. But nevertheless, Crowder has seen 5 targets or more dating back 7 weeks, and at this point would you rather own Crowder or the ever so popular Pierre Garcon. For me the answer is easy….TOAST!

Dorial Green-Beckham (Yahoo 26% – ESPN 19.5%) – With Justin Hunter out for the season, and not a whole lot of good coming out of Nashville it should be time for the love child of A.J. Green and Odell Beckham Jr. to emerge. I mean, with parents like that who wouldn’t want to own this guy. But seriously, the man is a beast, freak, god, whatever term you like. He needs to be let loose on the league, and use these last few games as a time to nurture a potentially fruitful relationship with Marcus Mariota. Then again, Marcus might not want DGB on the field after his awful route running Sunday cost the rookie QB a turnover.

Davante Adams (Yahoo 81% – ESPN 71.5%) – Okay, well he’s not really a wavier wire pickup, sort of, well…. because he’s owned in a ton of places, but I need to share. Can I share? I loathe this guy. I mean he’s probably a solid dude, I don’t think he’s robbing grannies or eating all the red jelly beans or anything, but he sort of……sucks. I mean he had 21 targets on sunday…TWENTY ONE!!! And he finished the game with 10 catches for 79 yards and no scores. He also dropped a crucial 2 point conversion. Use anyone else, anyone.

Just wanted to let everyone know, that after today’s post I’m going to be taking a sabbatical for a little bit. While I try and find myself on a journey of self growth in the Himalayas. I will be burning sage and asking the big questions like, “Why do people still ask why Tim Tebow isn’t in the league” and “Why does everyone irrationally hate Cam Newton and love Aaron Rodgers?”. I promise to return with those answers and a renewed sense of self. But honestly, I’m 33 years old, my third child was born in September and there’s just a lot of things that need my attention. Thanks for reading all of my non-sense here, on Razzball Soccer, and over on the baseball side… I think I’ll be back, before you even notice I left.
