In this edition of the preseason fantasy football Top 150 PPR rankings, we finally introduce the rookies into our rankings. In total 10 rookies have cracked the first Top 150 since the NFL draft. Of the 10 rookies, seven are wide receivers, two are quarterbacks, and only one is a running back.

This list can grow or shrink as we get more news from training camp in the upcoming months. Many rookies especially those who were drafted on day 3 are off our fantasy radars,  but could become sleepers by the time August rolls around. For now, let’s discuss why we ranked the rookies where we did in the latest Top 150!

The Rookies Have Arrived!

  • Player: Marvin Harrison Jr.
  • Team: Arizona Cardinals
  • Overall Ranking: 32 (ECR 22)

Top 10 wide receivers have been surprisingly hit or miss over the past few years. Of the five wide receivers drafted in the Top 10 since 2021, only two finished inside the top 20 (Ja’Marr Chase and Jaylen Waddle). Marvin Harrison, Jr. does land in a solid spot with Kyler Murray who’s WR1s in his first four seasons averaged 16 PPR PPG with him on the field. I might be behind ECR, but I am not off Harrison completely in 2024.

  • Player: Brian Thomas, Jr.
  • Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Overall Ranking: 77 (ECR 136)

The Jaguars will be vacating the 5th most targets heading into 2024 with the departures of Calvin Ridley and Zay Jones. The last time Doug Pederson drafted a rookie wide receiver was in 2020 with Jalen Reagor. Even though Reagor wasn’t relevant for fantasy he was a full-time player in the 11 games he played. Thomas could be stepping into a WR1 role as soon as this season which is why I will be aggressive on him this off-season.

  • Player: Jonathon Brooks
  • Team Carolina Panthers
  • Overall Ranking: 80 (ECR 135)

Since 2019, nine running backs have been drafted between picks 35-55. Those running backs have averaged 12.8 PPR PPGs with an average fantasy finish of 22. It’s important to note that Jonathan Brooks is coming off a serious ACL injury he suffered in November so a slower start should be expected. This is why even though I have him extremely high vs. ECR in my top 150, I won’t be looking to draft him as as starter in 2024.

  • Player: Malik Nabers
  • Team New York Giants
  • Overall Ranking: 89 (ECR 56)

Before we assume Malik Nabers landed in a bad situation, let’s look at how the top options have performed with Daniel Jones. In 2019, Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard averaged 14 PPR PPG. In 2020 and 2021 Shepard averaged at least 13.4 PPR PPG in the healthy games he played with Jones. In 2022, Isaiah Hodgins averaged 12 PPR PPG in the 10 games he played with the Giants. Based on where he is going in ECR I might not get a lot of him, but he should be viewed as a Top 40 wide receiver for fantasy football as soon as this season.
