WR Risers

  • Player: Courtland Sutton
  • Team: Denver Broncos

Sutton moves up to WR19 for me.  He is the clear WR1 with a young QB who looks his way early and often.  I look for Sutton’s targets, and other stats, to increase as Bo Nix continues to mature and lock into his top WR.  With no true viable WR2 in Denver, no offense to Troy Franklin, Sutton may finish in the Top 12 WR list at seasons end.

  • Player: Calvin Ridley
  • Team: Tennessee Titans

No WR2 in view.  Decent TE.  Lackluster running game.  QB1 (GO COUGS) was the 1.01 and has been given the reins.  Sign me up!  Ridley is my WR22 and has a chance to outpace that number while being peppered with targets this season.

  • Player: Emeka Egbuka
  • Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

My current favorite WR to target after Round 5, and is currently my WR27 overall.  He is rising up most (ALL) draft boards, so if you trust me and trust what Baker Mayfield is saying about the rookie WR, then you will need to pay up for him this season.  I think Egbuka will still be extremely viable even when Chris Godwin returns.

  • Player: Ricky Pearsall
  • Team: San Francisco 49ers

I see Pearsall as the third option in San Fran, after only CMC and Kittle but he falls in right behind Egbuka at WR34 for me.  The rest of the WR room looks more like a M.A.S.H. unit, so all WR targets will be gobbled up by Ricky P.  With Brandon Aiyuk out ~6-8 weeks and Deebo in DC, look for Pearsall to ascend the weekly WR ranks.

WR Fallers

  • Player: Tyreek Hill
  • Team: Miami Dolphins

Bad attitude.  Captain’s “C” no longer on the jersey.  More kids than a daycare.  A year older.  All those things equal a volatile mix for a WR with a questionable QB1.  For now, WR14 is the best I can do for Cheetah.  He could prove me wrong, but I do not think I will be that far off with this drop.

  • Player: DK Metcalf
  • Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

No WR2 to protect him from double coverage.  A run-first offense.  A 67-year-old QB on the cusp of retirement (might already be mentally checked out).  Similar, but not the same as Hill above, these negative circumstances are not what I want to deal with on a weekly basis.  I am staying away from DK this season especially at WR23.

  • Player: Zay Flowers
  • Team: Baltimore Ravens

Too many people are too high on a WR that does not catch TDs.  That same WR is the 3rd best option, at best, after Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson in a run heavy offense.  A healthy Mark Andrews from the jump does not bode well for Flowers especially where he is being drafted.  I have him comfortably at WR31 now.

  • Player: Rashee Rice, Jordan Addison, Chris Godwin, Brandon Aiyuk
  • Team: Various

Rice = 6 game suspension

Addison = 3 game suspension

Godwin = Not on PUP but not practicing quite yet in TB.  I look for him to miss a minimum of 3 games before returning to the slot for the Bucs

Aiyuk = I foresee a lost season with one setback
