Donkey and B_Don are back this week, goin’ deep on new Steelers’ quarterback Mason Rudolph. After breaking down the film from Rudolph’s second half performance against Seattle this past week, the guys take a look at how the fantasy relevant Steelers will be impacted. Is this a chance to buy low on early round studs JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Conner? Will Vance McDonald continue to thrive with the youngster Rudolph at the helm? Are any of Donte Moncrief, James Washington, or Diontae Johnson worth rostering? Tune in and find out.

Then Donkey Teeth is lured away by some juicy sugar beets, but MB swoops in to save the day during the pick ups segment. Some players discussed by B_Don and MB include Demarcus Robinson, Daniel Jones, John Ross, Ty Johnson, Raheem Mostert, Nelson Agholor, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, and many more. Open your ear holes and enjoy!

Of the notable rookie performances that I didn’t see coming in week 1, Terry McLaurin sits near or at the top of the list. Not somebody I was overly high on after reviewing his college film, but showed up for the Redskins who have limited options at the wide receiver position.

Still not sure where to take this column on a weekly basis. Maybe I’ll start looking ahead to 2020 rookies at some point, but for week 1, here are some thoughts on what we saw from the most notable performers.

Rudy also explains the weekly method of dialing in his projections and why you should put more weight in his numbers later in the week.

2019 was not the most spectacular class of rookies to enter the NFL. In fact, multiple times, I’ve said that the running back class is the weakest we’ve seen in the last decade with the possible exception of 2010. As history shows us with rookies, it is not always the first ones drafted that make the biggest impact in fantasy. While Saquon obviously ran away with the 2018 rookie class MVP, the 2nd leading rusher of the group was the undrafted Phillip Lindsay.

When evaluating rookies, every analyst uses some combination of talent and opportunity, and I tend to lean more toward the talent side of those. Situation can change, and while players can improve, I tend to trust my evaluations in their skills.

It’s the inaugural episode of The Razzball Football Podcast formerly known as The Ditka, Sausage, and Fantasy Football Podcast also known as Two Dudes Talking about Football who may or may not be recording the conversation. It’s still a sausage fest as Rudy Gamble joins B_Don and Donkey Teeth to celebrate the podcast re-branding/re-launch with an intimate conversation about football projection methodics.

Donkey Teeth and B_Don are joined by a special guest on this week’s podcast, Ryan McDowell of Dynasty League Football (DLF).

While B_Don fights technical difficulties, DT and Ryan discuss the Scott Fish Bowl draft. They talk about some of the more convoluted situations including the NE and SF running back situations along with expectations for top tight ends this season. Once the whole crew is together, the guys look at B_Don’s approach to super flex/OP drafting, and then get into some rookie rankings with the dynasty guru.

B_Don and Donk Teeth are back talking football and sausage on the Ditka Pod this week. Digging in on the 2019 rookie wide receiver class, the sausage stuffers profile each of the wide outs taken in the first two rounds of this year’s NFL draft. It’s a deep class with lots of speed and deep threats.

Marquise “Hollywood” Brown was the first WR off the board this year, mainly because he’s Antonio Brown’s cousin…and he’s good at football too. N’Keal Harry was the only other receiver taken in the first round of the NFL draft, but the second round saw a whopping seven receivers go off the board: Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown, Mecole Hardman, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Parris Campbell, Andy Isabella, and D.K. Metcalf. Find out which of these studs to target in your dynasty rookie drafts, who has the most redraft potential, and who to invite over to your house for stimulating conversation over a juicy bratwurst.

Back for a second week talking rookie running backs, B_Don and Donkey Teeth roll through the rest of the 2019 RB class. The guys both have rose colored glasses for Justice Hill in Baltimore; they also dig deep on boom or bust candidate Bryce Love in Washington and Bowling Ball Benny Snell Jr. in Pittsburgh.

Later in the show B_Don highlights a few of his favorite deep targets from this class in Ty Johnson, Travis Homer, and Miles Gaskin while DT expresses some strong feelings for late rounders Darwin Thompson and Rodney Anderson. Other under the radar names featured on this episode of The Sausage Fest include Tony Pollard, Ryquell Armstead, Trayveon Williams, Dexter Williams, Jordan Scarlett, Kerry Whyte, Mike Weber, Qadree Ollison, and Bruce Anderson. We’re giving away our football summer sausage, come and get it!
