How The NFL Draft Impacted Running Backs

Hello everyone!

The 2017 NFL Draft has been in the books for a while now, and here at Razzball we’ve already provided some great content recapping the draft in MB’s article and the Razzcast episode from Friday, but I wanted to provide a closer look at the draft from the running back perspective. The reason why I am choosing to do this is because they are the only position that is impacted in such a big way. Offensive lines are upgraded, flashy new rookies are drafted, and even important role players are selected each year that garners our attention. Sure, new information will come out between now and the start of the season in September, but it’s important now to analyze the information in front of us to start to gain an edge over the rest of your buddies in your fantasy leagues.

Razzcast 25: The Post-Draft Episode

We are now entering a creative Renascence, as I like to call it, in terms of our episode titles. You know, people tell me all the time “Jay, stop creating! You’re part of the zeitgeist that makes expression tantamount to the world on a metaphysical level” and my response is always: “wha?”. That being said, we’ve got the NFL Draft to talk about, and so naturally, we do! Matt and Zach arrived a bit tardy, so Tehol and I wax poetic about Marshawn Lynch’s return to the NFL and wonder if the AFC West has the potential to be the best division in football next season. Then the draft talk begins, and we close on a few notes on what we have planned for the preseason and some shows we’ll be watching and discussing in the mean time. And we also talk about Zach being either Jewish or Amish. For some reason. Blame Tehol. Enjoy!

2017 NFL Draft Review

The NFL draft is now behind us and there is a lot to digest. The Bears made the worst trade in the history of the draft and teams were able to find some value later on Thursday night. I’m going to pick a couple handfuls of the picks throughout the draft and let you know what you can expect from a fantasy football standpoint.

It’s very difficult to gauge rookie production going into a new season but there are players who were drafted to play a big role right away. Training camp and the preseason obviously will be the biggest deciding factor for every player’s participation in the regular season, but what is the fun in waiting? We should talk about football now, we should try and make projections all of the time. Plus, the more that I write, the more opportunities there are for you to tell me that I’m wrong…

If you thought our production value couldn’t get any worse, you’re sorta right. As with everything on the site, the blame probably lies at Zach’s feet, but since he’s the young one, we’ll just go ahead and blame Tehol. In our newest episode (it’s been a while, we know), Zach, Matt Bowe, and Tehol play the part of GM and take turns selecting players in a mock draft that will probably not even end up being close to what happens when all is said and done. NFL Draft Preview: Quarterback and Tight End Player Profiles

First of all, I don’t know what Zach is complaining about. He was given the two positions where players can make the biggest impact in fantasy football at the beginning of their careers. Leave it to such a millennial baby to complain about an opportunity to have his star truly shine. His complaining aside, Zach did a fantastic job previewing running backs and wide receivers, you can check it out here. Now it’s time to preview the quarterbacks and the tight ends we keep hearing and reading about for the 2017 NFL draft.

Fantasy impact is pretty tough to project without first knowing the landing spot of a prospect. So I’ll write about skill sets and best or worst fits for each of these players. After checking out this article, you can look forward to Zach’s first-round mock draft that he has longed to write up since he started blowing our minds with fantasy football knowledge. In the next couple of weeks, I’m going to put out a review of the actual landing spots for our fantasy relevant rookies…

2017 NFL Draft: The Bottom Feeders Reviewed

Just like that, the offseason is upon us. Another football season has been wasted with the Patriots winning another super bowl. I’m just kidding, I’m not going to be that guy who hates a team for winning too many championships. I don’t need that karma in my life, after all I am a Cubs fan and I am hoping to celebrate the next five world series championships.

I am devastated by the results from a gambling point of view. After a fantastic 7-3 record against the spread throughout the postseason, I pushed all of my chips towards the Atlanta Falcons money line and it would have been very profitable. The result ended up being my most heartbreaking gambling loss of my so far, young life.

Now it’s time to put that in the past. The future is now. Zach and I are the future. My cohort and myself are going to grind week in and week out to bring you the most useful fantasy relevant draft coverage that we can. Non-fantasy relevant information will also be shared because we are going to do our best to cover every team. So, without further ado, let’s continue with a little preview. We are going to review the 2016 seasons of the 16 bottom finishers in the NFL last season. I will tell you of any GM or coaching changes that I am aware of and I will do my best to cover draft rumors and positional needs.

2017 NFL Draft: Opening Thoughts

Hey everyone, it’s good to be back! After a short break since Week 15 of the regular season, I again will be doing some writing about the NFL Draft into the first couple months of the offseason. However, there is good news! Unlike last year, I won’t be doing this alone! I’ll be getting some help from my good buddy Matt Bowe (Unbreakable MB for those that don’t know)!

For those of you that have followed Matt and his excellent roster strategy series this past year covering streaming, you already know what your getting: great analysis that is short, sweet, and to the point.
