Although I’ve done plenty of mock drafts this season, the Razzball Writers’ League was my first “real” fantasy football draft of the 2013 season. I don’t think Yahoo has the best rankings in the world, but I did get the only “A” draft grade from Yahoo of the bunch and I’ve got to say, I agree with them there

Another yahoo draft in the books, another ‘D’ on the report card. I swear, these Yahoo professors have it out for me! I at first thought it was because I didn’t draft a DEF/K but no, they really just don’t like anything I do. Perhaps I’m too contrarian? I don’t know, I didn’t think I was being as such. Though I did draw a big middle finger up in the corner of my draft sheet when I handed it in. Maybe that’s what got me wrung up. To be honestly honest, this is probably the least favorite of the teams I’ve fielded so far but that’s simply based on the lack of depth I have at RB. It started off as a simple idea. We thought to ourselves ‘man, we have a lot of writers this year. Why don’t we all start a league together? Wouldn’t that be fun?’. And then a few weeks passed. And then a few more. And then a week before the season started we thought to ourselves ‘man, we have a lot of writers this year. Why don’t we all start a league together? Wouldn’t that be fun?’. Only the second time we followed through and in the end, twelve Razzball writers entered the yahoo league and only one left the victor. The Iron Throne (Josh Carey) defeated JB Gilpin in the semifinal 135 – 93 even though their QB, Josh Freeman, scored only 5.96 points. Dennis Pitta contributed an amazing 28 points, and of course Adrian Peterson was good for 27.2. The Bridgeburners (Tehol Beddict) advanced with a 128 – 109 upset of first place Reign Maker$ (Zorboss). Yahoo made Reign Maker$ 24 point favorites, and Tehol announced, “Looks like Beddict is finico.” But fantasy football is not played on a computer screen. Hakeem Nicks, Doug Martin, Jamaal Charles, and Darrius Heyward-Bey scored 15 for Zorboss, instead of the 62 Yahoo projected. Meanwhile, Colin Kaepernick, Andre Johnson, Frank Gore, and the Seattle defense were piling up the points for Tehol. So now we get the final we all dreamed about.
