Don’t be sad that the fantasy football season is over; be glad it happened in the first place. However, if you are among the many football enthusiasts who play dynasty-format fantasy football, you know the season never truly ends. So while we might be staring down the barrel of the NFL offseason, there’s plenty to be done as a dynasty manager. Between now and the beginning of training camp is when champions are made. This week, Jon, Matt Ward and myself give you our dynasty rookie draft sleepers at the wide receiver and tight end positions.

NFL News & Notes

OBJ to the Ravens

The addition of Odell Beckham Jr. in Baltimore raises questions about his potential fantasy relevance considering his injury history and age. Beckham, who will be 31 in November, has not been a consistent fantasy asset since 2018. Concerns about his ability to stay healthy and maintain his performance level are valid, and dynasty managers may need to evaluate his potential impact on their rosters cautiously. In addition, does OBJ’s signing also affect Lamar Jackson’s future with the Ravens? It remains to be seen if Jackson will stay in Baltimore for the 2023 season, though it seems more and more likely as we approach the NFL Draft.

Cheetah Hanging Up His Cleats

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill made headlines this week with the announcement that he plans to retire after the 2025 season. It has caused panic among fantasy owners, resulting in a slight dip in Hill’s fantasy value. However, for savvy fantasy owners, this could present a buying opportunity. Hill has been a consistent top-10 WR, and 2022 was arguably his best season. He managed to log over 1,700 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, finishing as the PPR WR2. As Hill’s retirement is still several seasons away, dynasty managers should consider this a chance to acquire him at a potentially discounted price and reap the benefits of his elite production.

Is Saquon the New Le’Veon?

The developing situation with Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants is reminiscent of the Le’Veon Bell saga. Barkley has refused to sign the franchise tag offered by the Giants, leading to uncertainty about his future with the team. Nevertheless, he had one of his most productive and workload-heavy seasons in 2022, amassing 381 touches and finishing as the overall PPR RB5. The Giants will need to negotiate a long-term deal with Barkley to avoid a situation similar to Bell’s, where the running back sat out an entire season in a contract dispute. Dynasty managers should closely monitor the situation to see how it unfolds and how it may impact Barkley’s fantasy value moving forward.

Dynasty Rookie Sleeper WRs & TEs

Everyone knows players like Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Zay Flowers and Dalton Kincaid. However, if you look a little deeper, there are some hidden gems in this incoming rookie class. Tight end Zack Kuntz from Old Dominion is a freak athlete with incredible size who will be a difference maker in year one. Trey Palmer form Nebraska didn’t look amazing at the NFL Combine, but his fantasy value has fallen too far, and you can buy the dip and reap the rewards.
