Player: David Montgomery

Previous Rank: 74

Current Rank: 60

Montgomery had a massive fantasy day last Sunday in week four. I have been bullish on him all off-season as an enormous value in drafts. Detroit all but told us exactly how they planned to utilize Monty based on last year’s backfield roles. He is “Jamaal Williams” and Jahmyr Gibbs is “D’Andre Swift.” Montgomery played a season-high 71% of snaps in week four and was coming off missing a game due to injury. I am perplexed why the Lions gave him 32 carries coming off an injury and with the game comfortably in hand. He has never been a super sexy start and isn’t very explosive, but damn if he just doesn’t get the job done in fantasy as an RB2 and low-end RB1 in the right matchup. Montgomery has everything going for him in the team ecosystem, has five total TDs and is averaging 20 fantasy points per game.

Stance: He was a much cheaper acquisition in the spring, but I am okay with paying for Montgomery. A late 2024 1st is around the value, but trying an RB2 tier-down and adding a 2024 2nd or even two should get it done.

Player: Michael Wilson

Previous Rank: 148

Current Rank: 133

Wilson was a late third-round pick out of Stanford for Arizona in the 2023 draft. He is a bigger-bodied receiver at 6′ 1″ and 216 pounds who can win on the outside, with a college dominator ranking of 32.5%. He clearly had his breakout game in week four with seven receptions, 76 yards, and two receiving TDs. Wilson looks to be a steal of rookie drafts. I took him in the fourth round in several leagues, and Wilson is well on his way to outperforming where he was drafted.

“Listening to his interviews, understanding spots on the field, but also going after it and blocking with the same effort has me really enjoying his rise. Those little things matter when it comes to staying power, and when you add in his toughness going up for balls, plays he’s put up, he’s on the rise for sure.” @FFDBigD  @TheFFdynasty

Stance: Very bullish on acquiring Wilson. Where I have him, he is a firm hold. He’s producing right away, and this Arizona team should improve dramatically in 2024. Throw out a 2024 2nd or add a 2024 3rd and get him on your squad now.

Player: Kyler Murray

Previous Rank: 39

Current Rank: 46

I am growing more concerned with each passing week of “recovery time” and the Cardinals opting not to activate Murray from PUP list. Kyler tore his ACL in week 14 in 2022 but seems “behind” in his timetable to return.  Arizona clearly went into this year not anticipating winning many games, trading veterans, and rebuilding their roster. I said in January that Kyler Murray’s job is on notice. The Cardinals have two first-round picks in 2024, and there is a genuine chance they will land Caleb Williams and could trade Murray away. He can only fall so far in my rankings based on his capabilities and attributes as a player. Until I see him take the field, I will remain somewhat trepidatious.

Stance: While I am nervous about Kyler and his situation for many reasons, I am still bullish. His value will likely never be lower than it is now, and if he gets traded, his value will skyrocket. Hypothetically, picture a year from now, Kyler is starting for the Atlanta Falcons. I am making that move if I can trade for Kyler on the cheap with something like a 2024 mid-1st and 2024 2nd. Trading for Murray is focused more towards rebuilding and productive struggle rosters.
