I don’t know about you, but this is my favorite time of the year. The Combine gets the blood pumping. Incoming rookies are getting hyped. And everybody is ready to see where Players X, Y, and Z are going to go in free agency, which is finally upon us. I’m getting excited just writing this! To tide us over until everything kicks off, there have already been changes happening in the last week leading up to free agency. Players have been tagged, trades have gone down, and Razzball’s Dynasty Trade Chart has already been getting adjusted with what has been going on. With that, let’s get into what some of those adjustments have been.

Mr. Unlimited’s Options are Limited

There are few teams that are going to go through the same level of a shakeup that the Denver Broncos have already created on their offense. To start things off with, they released Russell Wilson and decided to eat the five-year contract they had just signed him to back in 2022. With his release, everyone took a hit in their values on the Dynasty Trade Chart.

To start things off, there was Russell Wilson who went down five points in value. The reason his value took a hit is because, well, he doesn’t have a job. It’s hard to have any kind of value if the player doesn’t have some place to play. The only reason he didn’t take a bigger hit is because I am positive that he will be playing somewhere by the time training camp comes around, it’s just a question of where. This has him sitting at 31 Value Points, which puts him in the range of a 2024 late first round pick, early second. If you’re hurting at quarterback and need one for the upcoming season, you should be checking to see if the Russell Wilson owner is willing to part with him now before he lands somewhere.

Jeudy Jeudy Jeudy, Rockin’ Everywhere… Just Not in Denver

Another big name that took a hit at first, but has since rebounded, is Jerry Jeudy. This man has been the bane of my existence because I cannot seem to quit him… When he came into the league, I was picking him up everywhere I could, thinking he was going to be the best rookie wide receiver in the class.

This did not happen.

Every year since I have made excuses to myself as to why this is going to be the year he is going to blow up.

This did not happen.

Last year I was all in on the Sean Payton offense and was ready for Jeudy to take off into outer space.

This. Did. Not. Happen.

Now expectations have been tampered. Hearts have been broken and mended with a better perspective of what it feels like to be let down to such an extent. And yet, there is hope! Jeudy is finally getting the fresh start that I’ve been hoping for him to get for the last couple of years. The Broncos have traded him to the Cleveland Browns for pocket change. Am I excited about the landing spot? Not really, but it couldn’t be worse than it has been up until this point for him.

Jeudy’s Value Points have him sitting at 27, which is an early second round pick. At this value, any option is a good one to be honest. Trade him away and try to hit on a Keon Coleman or Adonai Mitchell if you’re rebuilding. If you’re a fringe player, hold onto him to wait and see if the change in scenery is just what he needed. Or trade for him, which is what I’m doing (insert eyeball.emoji), and pray that Deshaun Watson is finally healthy… or that Joe Flacco comes back again.

Top Free Agency Wide Receivers Get Tagged

Man, was I excited to see where some of the free agent wide receivers were going to go. It was highly unlikely Michael Pittman was on the move, but could you have imagined “Pittman Watch”? Or Tee Higgins, for that matter?! Ah, what could have been….

Well, that is no longer relevant, so let’s focus on the here and now. Michael Pittman gains two value points because him staying with second year quarterback Anthony Richardson might be just what both of them needed. This puts Pittman at 56 Value Points, which is a high 2024 first-round pick. He is just entering his prime now and if you are competing or on the fringe of doing so, you should be trying to invest your first-round pick in a stud WR1.

When it comes to Tee Higgins, I am a little more disappointed as Higgins has the skillset to be the top receiver for a team and I was excited to see that for him. Still, Higgins is sitting at 46 Value Points, right in the sweet spot of a mid-2024 first-round pick. Higgins has consistently been a WR2 on the Bengals when Burrow is healthy, so you know what to expect when trading for him, which I am at this point after Bobby LaMarco brought me around on the Razzball podcast last Thursday. Check it out for a more in depth conversation on Pittman and Higgins situations.

Quick Hitters

Jonnu Smith and Dalton Schultz both got a substantial bump as they both signed with Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans, respectively. Smith is sitting at 12 Value Points, which I’m willing to take a chance with a mid-2024 third-round pick. Schultz is sitting at 24 Value Points, which is closer to a mid-2024 second-round pick, which if you’re competing and in need of a TE, you should be buying.

Chuba Hubbard got the nod from his GM, Dan Morgan, who said that right now Hubbard is the lead back in Carolina. With that news, Hubbard takes a big step forward, and might still be undervalued on the Dynasty Trade Chart, as he sits at 17 Value Points. If he has indeed usurped Miles Sanders, Hubbard is a smash buy at his current value.

Finally, Alexander Mattison was cut, leaving the door open for Ty Chandler. There’s a chance that Chandler has some competition in the backfield, but keep your eye on what the Minnesota Vikings do in free agency because if they do nothing, I don’t see any rookies taking over the role from Chandler, who gained 4 points and sits at 25 Value Points.
