My first deep league article seemed to help some of you with your backend roster decisions, so I offer more help here. I will try to list diverse position options for those you looking for position specific players. For this week’s edition, I have two Quarterbacks, one Runningback, two Wide Receivers, and one Tight End. These are players you may want to target in your dynasty or deep leagues:

Lil’ Jordan Humphery WR Saints
“But don’t let my name fool you! In real life I’m very big.” This manly man in tight TIGHT tights measures in at 6, 4’ 225 lbs. He played his college ball for the Longhorns in Texas where everything apparently is bigger. Humphery got on the field for 10 games as a true freshman for the Longhorns an impressive accomplishment on a blue blood program. LJH eventually put up some fat numbers in his Junior season – 86 catches for 1,100 yards and 9 TDs. After Lil’ Jordan’s big year he left college early to enter the NFL draft. At the combine, Humphery ran a 4.78 40 yard dash and went undrafted. The Saints did what dem Saints do, they noticed talent, signed said talent, then trained that talent on their practice squad. Lil’Jordan put up prodigious numbers this preseason catching seven passes for 100 yards and two TDs. With his size and production, I think he carves out a role for himself in the Saints offense. Defenses that don’t recognize his role will pay a heavy toll. “A toll is a toll, and roll is a roll. And if we don’t get no tolls, then we don’t eat no rolls. I made that up.”
Look for Lil’Jordan on waiver wire. If you know the Moyle, he’ll give you half off!

Logan Woodside QB Titans
I love me some Logan Woodside. This guy won’t be beaten. Woodside attended college at Toledo after being recruited by Head Coach Matt Campbell. Just in case you don’t follow college football, Matt Campbell is the head coach of the 7th ranked Iowa State Cyclones. 7th is the highest Iowa State has ever been ranked in the AP poll, that’s right, EVER. To put it another way, Matt Campbell is really good at his job and he has a keen eye for talent. Woodside got his chance at Toledo after their starting QB Philip Ely (Alabama transfer) was injured. Woodside responded by starting 11 games that season, winning 8 of those games, and leading his team to a share of the MAC West division title and a bowl game victory. Woodside was an incredible college player. He holds the Toledo record for passing yards 10,514, passing TDs 93, and passing efficiency 162.87. Logan also collected plenty of wins (29) and accolades (2017 MAC MVP, 2017 MAC Offensive Player of the Year) during his time at Toledo. His impressive college career got him drafted in the 7th round of the 2018 draft by the Cincinnati Bengals. Unfortunately, Logan was arrested for an OWI that June and just couldn’t get it going in Cincy, but he didn’t give up. After a short spell on the Titans practice squad, Woodside left the NFL in 2019 to play for the San Antonio Commanders of the newly formed Alliance of American Football (AAF). The AAF did not last long. The league went bankrupt after about two months of play. Woodside went back to the Tennessee for another turn on the Titans practice squad. Logan continued to compete and now finds himself the QB2 for the Titans. And after fighting through successes, failures, stints on the practice squad, and a brief time with a football league that no longer exists, Logan Woodside is one injury away from being the new Star(ter) in Nashville.
I plan to snag this guy in my dynasty leagues and reap the rewards if he gets an opportunity. He should be free in every league.

Juwan Johnson WR/TE Saints
Two articles for me and three Saints mentioned already. If you can’t tell, I am a big believer in Sean Payton and his staff. It might be too late to acquire this guy. I just nabbed him in dynasty for $18 faab, hopefully he’s available in your league because Juwan this Johnson. Another large and fast man, he measured in at 6’, 4” 230 lbs and he ran a 4.58 forty yard dash. Don’t let the sleeper tag fool you, this guy is a legit prospect. He was a high four-star recruit coming out of high school in New Jersey and garnered offers from basically every power five college, including a committable offer from Alabama. Johnson chose to stay close to home and attend Penn State. Juwan never really produced much at Penn State, so he transferred to Oregon to play for Mario Cristobal, the coach who recruited him at Alabama. Johnson didn’t do a whole lot with Oregon either. Some talents take a little longer to mature and the Saints are hoping that’s the case with Johnson. I’m inclined to think the Saints are right. Get him if ya still can.

Jermar Jefferson RB Lions
The Lions want to run the damn ball. After watching preseason video of Penei Sewell pass block, I would too. I expect Dan Campbell to go through a few running backs this season. Jermar Jefferson will get some swings at starting running back and I think he can hit at this level. This guy is a homerun threat on every play. Its not that Jefferson possesses blazing speed, he was clocked at 4.56 in the 40, Jemar’s big play ability comes from his determination and acceleration. JJ shatters the line of scrimmage, quickly reaching top speed and coasts his way into the endzone. His career at Oregon State mirrors his running style. Jefferson burst onto the scene his freshman year starting 12 games and rushing for 1380 yards, 12 TDs at 5.8 yards per carry. His freshman fireworks brought accolades. Jermar won the Pac12 Freshman Offensive Player of the Year award. Jefferson coasted to another 1,500 yards through an injury-plagued sophomore season and an explosive, but brief Junior year. Jefferson was a 7th round pick by the Lions, which means he is on a 4-year deal. I’m sure the Lions management would roar if Jermar takes the starting RB, or at least a part of a time-share this year.
Get this guy before his big break-out.

K.J. Osborn WR Vikings
We may have a skill meets opportunity situation here. Irv Smith is out for the foreseeable future, and I don’t know if the Vikings have a Tight End to take his place. I like Tyler Conklin, but he is coming off injury. Chris Herndon is a great talent, but he just showed up, he might still think Skol is merely a brand of tobacco. Someone is going to have to step up and be the 3rd target for the Vikings and the Confusing Case of Kirk Cousins. I expect Osborn to be that guy. He was drafted by the Vikings in the 5th round last year coming off a season in which he led the Miami Hurricanes in receiving. That is a terrific feat unto itself, but to add context, he wasn’t even on the Miami Hurricanes the previous year. In 2018 K.J. was stampeding through MAC defenses with the Buffalo Bulls. Not the Buffalo Bills, the Buffalo Bulls, tho they both have blue bulls on their logos, hey, it gets cold up there, and lonely…
Osborn isn’t one of those “Little Engine that Could” guys who made the most of his meager abilities at a lowly MAC school and then maximized at the big-time P-5 school. No, K.J. is nowhere near maximized. He rocked the combine in 2020 by running a 4.48 40, blasting out 18 bench reps, and leaping to a 37.5 inch vertical! The upside here is significant. I recommend you grab Osborn and see where this goes.

Tyler Huntley QB Ravens
In case you hadn’t noticed, and if you live a life that doesn’t entail combing through NFL roster moves in your free time, you haven’t– the Ravens released backup quarterback Trace McSorely. I’m not here to bag on Trace. The guy hurt his back and didn’t really get much of an opportunity. This would all seem insignificant, but Trace’s McSore back created an opportunity for Huntley to take over the QB2 in Baltimore.
Huntley was on a seek and destroy mission all preseason. While Lamar Jackson was concocting cockamamie COVID excuses, Huntley was making the most of his first team reps and the Ravens will be better for it. When I watch Huntley play, I see a lot of Lamar Jackson. I firmly believe that if the Ravens lose Lamar to injury (or a lengthy COVID research session) Tyler can keep this bird flying. Huntley is a skilled player who for some unknown reason went undrafted in 2020. As a senior in High School Huntley was named the Gatorade Player of the in state of Florida. He played his college ball at Utah and he had a pretty good career. Huntley got into 4 games as a true freshman and outside of injury, he never relinquished the QB1. He maintained a yearly completion percentage that never dipped below 63% and reached as high as 73%. Tyler is not all arm though, he ran a 4.56 40 yard dash. Is Tyler Huntley the next Lamar Jackson? No. But, he might get you similar production if given the chance. He’s probably available in your league right now.
