If you’re in your fantasy championship and your opponent doesn’t own Alvin Kamara then consider it a very Harry Mistress. I mean Merry Christmas. If you are going up against Kamara then take that lump of coal out of your butt and get back to work, there’s still a glimmer of hope for a Christmas miracle. And if you’re in the championship and you own Kamara, then you won’t be getting any more holiday gifts for the next three years after unwrapping 22 carries for 155 yards with 3 catches for 17 yards and 6 touchdowns! SIX TOUCHDOWNS! Kamara now has 21 touchdowns on the season, not too shabby. Anyway, in this post I’ll go over Saturday’s questionable players to watch closely as well as some sneaky starts for this week, who just might be available in your free agent pool depending on how many players are rostered in your league. Plus, find my freshly updated week 16 rankings below!

Injury Report – Will try to update these periodically Saturday as more info comes out

George Kittle (foot) – He said he’d be back this year when the doctors doubted. Kittle 1, Doctors 0. IN

Chase Edmonds (ankle, knee) – Questionable, on track to play. IN

DeVante Parker (hamstring) – Questionable, trending towards playing. OUT

Mike Gesicki (shoulder) – Questionable – trending towards playing. IN

Derek Carr (groin) – In a surprise turn of events, Carr will play. IN

Matthew Stafford (rib, thumb) – Questionable, would play even if he lost a limb in a Christmas turkey frying accident. IN

Sneaky Starts (Yahoo ownership %)

QB

Baker Mayfield (54%) – Hopefully you have a high end option for your title run, but if not, Baker has been locked in lately and now faces the Jets.

RB

Salvon Ahmed (46%) – Again, hopefully you have better options because running backs are tough to come by in the fantasy championship week. Most analysts think Gaskin will be the main back in Miami, but I expect a full out committee with Ahmed.

Jeff Wilson (54%) – Mostert is on the shelf and Wilson has been used heavily in recent weeks.

WR

Russell Gage (31%) – Julio is out again.

Tee Higgins (69%) – They don’t have a QB but Tyler Boyd is out so the opportunity should be there for both Higgins and A.J. Green (36%).

TE

George Kittle (87%) – I know this one seems obvious, but make sure he wasn’t dropped and never picked back up in your league.

Donald Parham Jr. (0%) – This one’s for real deep leaguers. Hunter Henry is on the COVID list and Herbert likes to use his tight end.

Please feel free to ask any questions you might be pondering down in the comments section.

Here’s my updated week 16 rankings which I’ll continue to update all the way until 1PM ET Sunday:

Unfortunately I can’t enjoy the historic Kamara moment. Hill took away most of his value for about 3 weeks. I lost 2 games and it cost me a playoff bye. My season is over. If I got that 1st bye my seasons finish would have been much better.. Kamara scored 5, 10, pts in those 2 losses in consecutive weeks. I lost all of those games by 3 -5 points. Kamara had no receptions or no receiving and Hill vulitured him / Murray had a big game. As good as Kamara is, if Brees doesn’t come back, his value takes a HUGE hit next year if hill is the qb. I wouldn’t touch Kamara in that case as much as I love him

Same happened to me in one league.

As for hypothetical future value with Hill, I agree he’s no longer in the top top tier but still at worst aback end first rounder imo. Whether I’d draft him just depends where the market ends up valuing him.

      • Montezuma's Revenge... right now says:

no guarantee it’s t.hill starting if/when brees quits either. winston had no camp in a very hard to run in it’s fullest form offense. which they did not run with t.hill either. they didn’t pick up the current likely best backup in the entire league to never use him at all i’d doubt anyway. obv winston is a crazy gambler, but he’s also a far better throwing QB than t.hill and clearly can put up more points.

        – oh my dear god succop is getting up my ass. missing multiple extra points costs more than making them are worth in some spots (which they should be, extra points are easy), now another kick a FG.

I’m pretty confident that it’s Hill but you’re right,no guarantee

It was fantastic year for Kamara but could have been a lot more with over 100 catches and probably 1000 yds rush and rec. He carried my team and made up for some bad luck and my wr lack of production. So much has to go right to win a competitive fantasy league and here I am picking apart 2 down weeks / lack of usage. My season is irrelevant but his future value is in serious question imo.

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:

He only had 6 touchdowns last year in 14 games. Pretty incredible.

  3. M E says:

Currently have Kittle Aiyuk and Wilson in my lineup but worried about my 49ers exposure capping my upside. Should I swap in Gio for Jeff to diversify? Take a flyer on a WR other than Aiyuk? Or just stay out?

Half ppr with slight points per carry

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

I think I’d just stick with them. I do have Gio and Wilson at about a coin flip so I don’t hate the swap if that’s what your gut is telling you.

  4. Louis says:
    (link)

Half PPR, help me become champion!
    Kyler Murray or Herbert?
2 WR: Evans, corey davis, Cooks or devonta parker?
2 RB: jacobs, swift, Gibson or mckisic?
1 Flex from one of the aforementioned
    Merry Christmas!

    • Donkey Teeth

Murray, Evans, Davis, Jacobs, Gibson, Swift. Swap McKissic in if Gibson sits.

      Merry Xmas, good luck!

This is for my championship game…
Jalen Hurts or Tannenhill who should I start?
Kittle, Jonnu or Dallas Goedart who should I start?
Henderson or Hines if J Robinson can’t play who should I start?

This is for the semifinals game…
Herbert or J. Allen who should I start?
Kittle, Jonnu, Ertz or Dallas Goedart who should I start? Pick 1
Aiyuk, R. Woods, C.Davis, J. Crowder or Juju who should I start? Pick 3

    Happy Championship Weekend!

    Std Lg:
    1) Carson or Fournette
    * Fournette for upside and Carson for floor?

    2) Claypool, R. Higgins, or Gage
    * Most likely to get 100 yds?
    * Most likely to score?

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

      1) Agreed, slight lean to Fournette.
      2) I have these guys in a 3 way coin flip. I like Claypools upside the most and give him the best shot at scoring. Gage probably the most likely for 100 yards.

      Good luck!

  7. Mosquito Control says:
    (link)

Need some real high upside in my flex as I am up against Kamara, please help! Rashard Higgins, Russel Gage, Deandre Swift, JK Dobbins, or Darrel Henderson? Thank you!

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

Dang! I’d go with Dobbins for the upside…

      No problem, good luck!

  8. Another Dan says:

Thanks for your help during the season.

Finished 13-1. Am in the Championship game, think it looks like a close one. Injuries to CMC and Mixon have really caused me problems and it looks like I will probably lose this week. But, there’s always a chance so I’m running out this team, see any issues ? or am I good to go ?

    Std scoring
    QB – Murray
    RB – Dobbins, Gibson
    WR – DK, Diggs
    TE – Waller
    K – Succop
    Def – Cardinals
    WR/RB – David Johnson

BN – Gaskin, McKissic, Fournette, Godwin

    Best wishes,

    Another Dan

Team looks good, I’d actually put Fournette in over Gibson if it were my team.

No guarantee he plays and if he does there’s a chance they ease him in to a certain extent. Fournette is in a smash spot against the Lions, they could be running a lot in the 2nd half…

            (link)

with our dynasty ranked high buddy vaughn. hehehe. i’m not laughing that hard though, i have fournette starting in one 16 teamer

              (link)

Yeah no fournette in the 2nd half, bummer. I started him in two 3rd place games myself…

  9. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

kittle is right in the exact timeframe the doctors gave him at the time of the injury, he certainly didn’t meet what HE said he would (if so he’d have been back like 2 weeks ago or something).

-JPP almost had a pick and i noticed he has 10 fingers (at least appeared he did), how in the hell did that happen (remember he blew some of them off a few years ago on 4th of july mishap). i wish we could see those robot fingers or whatever he’s got in those gloves.

-wow, for first time i think since he’s been there, brady targeting evans just in general, like say winston or all the QB’s evans ever had pre-brady, which is great. gaebert too

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

They said out 8+ weeks on Kittle which woulda put him back week 17 at the earliest by my math.

Why did Evans and godwin play the entire game!?

      • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
        (link)

it was 6-8 originally ruled in reports anyway. kittle at first said he’d be back in 4 (which is complete b.s. medically). his upside was this week. good point on godwin/evans, they DID have ty jo out there in 2nd half.

        • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
          (link)

ok, i guess his absolute upside was last week, but if he came back last week his snaps would’ve probably been like k.allen’s last week.

be careful on CLE/NYJ. somebody popped a test today on CLE. while sitting mayfield shouldn’t be too hard (or higgins) the chubb is a huge problem if this gets weird (or landry to lesser extent)

    • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:

j-rob OUT. at least this wasn’t waited till tomorrow to report.

yep the entire CLE WR group (higgins/landry/DPJ) close contact corona out. s.wakins or perriman here we come!

        • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
          (link)

t.patrick back in too. lots of that range. or assume you are right and put ahmed in either along with gaskin or just over higgins without gaskin

          • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
            (link)

k.hodge too, it’s m.hall time again in deep leagues

              • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
                (link)

you do appear right on the ahmed/gaskin usage, which super sucks for me in numerous spots. some espn guy also was reported saying this, but not till like an hour before this game or less. but with d.harris often being one of my other options i still could end up better of this way.

                • Donkey Teeth

                  Donkey Teeth says:
                  (link)

Decent chance that one or both find the end zone still. Gaskin looks a bit better to me so far fwiw.

                    (link)

yeah i wrote that in around maybe the early 2nd quarter, MIA figured out who was doing better and stuck with it. from the time i wrote it it sure appeared ahmed got maybe 1-2 more carries total and didn’t do anything with them.

Oh man coming down to the wire here. Need to decide whether to start Jeff Wilson jr. or wait on Gibson tomorrow at flex. What do you think? If I wait for Gibson and he doesn’t play I prob have to flex like gage. Thanks!!!

      Donkey Teeth says:

Sorry didn’t get this in time. Don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer. If you feel good about your matchup then I think I woulda recommended taking the floor of wilson…

      • Kcc26 says:
        (link)

Ha I asked too late! Well I probably chose wrong with Gibson. Agree it was a coin flip. Thought Gibson might have more upside IF healthy and a full go against Carolina in a big game for WFT. But suddenly Wilson looks like Walter Payton…

        • Kcc26 says:
          (link)

As for the matchup…it looks pretty close on paper but I’d say my opponent is the slight favorite. Sigh
