OPE! As we say here in the Midwest. I almost forgot to turn in my week 8 rankings for your Wednesday morning viewing pleasure. I found time in between dipping fried foods in buttermilk ranch and harvesting corn and soybeans to give you what I have for this week.

With the trade deadline coming up, weekly rankings could get rather interesting in the next couple of weeks. We already have Amari Cooper moving to Dallas from Oakland and that will be a wait and see kind of thing. At least he has a bye week to work with Prescott and learn the playbook. I view it right now as a pretty lateral move for fantasy football purposes. If the Jaguars want to become relevant again this season, don’t they need a quarterback upgrade? Is somebody willing to pay a hefty price for a Le’Veon Bell rental? We will find out after week 8. Here are this week’s rankings.

  1. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

    12 teamer PPR.
    have
QB wentz/dak attack (for next week)
RB (2) barkley, chubb, coleman, barber, richard, royce
WR (2) k.allen, jeffery, sanu, cobb, shepard
    TE (1) RSJ
    1 flex
    IR (1) doyle
drop sanu or cobb (or both) for fitz, t.smith (off WW tonight in smith’s case). rudy’s bot really thinks ridley is cutting out sanu (last week’s targets appear to go with that too). of course that same bot gives a lot of t.smith’s value to meredith (and has meredith ranked higher), which doesn’t seem right, guessing it takes time to adjust to shorter term snap counts.

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: rudy’s bot tends to fade rookies and the unknown. I love Smith and Fitz. I would pick them both up. Yeah I’m also Ridley>Sanu ROS

      • Johnnyhobbes says:
        (link)

@MB: sorry to jump on this thread, but what “Fitz” are ya’ll talking about?

        • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
          (link)

@Johnnyhobbes: who’s another fitz in football? minkah fitzpatrick for CB only leagues i guess.

        • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
          (link)

          @Johnnyhobbes: jump away.

          • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
            (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: drop sanu or cobb first in case my WW works for t.smith (NO). waivers reset every week and t.smith dropped later so he comes off tonight when everybody else came off last night

  2. A Wesley Snipes Life says:
    (link)

i see the this week ranking of grant (IND) vs roberts (OAK) but ROS PPR for super deep league grant still ahead? have cobb/grant/sharpe/r.anderson/hopkins (start 3 WR, 1 flex).

also, best super flex dynasty stash:
c.kelly (the fact that he wasn’t released yet is telling), mccarron (carr and everybody “running” the offense at OAK (grudening in full effect) hated by rest of team openly now), chainsaw kessler (probably a few game minutes from that job yet again).

  3. Russowl says:
    (link)

10 team standard League with added 10-point bonus at 100 rushing or receiving yards
    Need two flexes
Josh gordon @ buf, Alshon Jeffery @jax, Golladay vs Seahawks, Baldwin @ Det or Drake @ Houston. I’m leaning Josh Gordon On One Flex but not sure about the other

    • MB

      MB says:

      @Russowl: Gordon and Golladay

  4. Steve says:
    (link)

What do u think of trading A. Robinson to obtain C. Thompson? My rbs r Gurley, McCaffrey, white, Henry. WRs r Robinson, Baldwin, Brown, Goodwin and Allison. Thanks

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

      I’d hold onto Robinson

      • Steve says:
        (link)

Ok. How about sending Goodwin to obtain Eckler?

        • MB

          MB says:
          (link)

          Yeah I’d do that

  5. Jake says:
    (link)

With the Giants tanking and pretty much already out of the playoff hunt is it possible they may limit Sequans workload to keep him fresh ? I am wondering if I should sell high on him but wanted your opinion on this prior to sending offers.

    Thanks

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

It’s possible but I don’t think it’ll be noticeable. Have no problem selling high on Barkley though.

  6. Johnnyhobbes says:

Not playing this week, but any thoughts on Tyrell Williams (LAC) going forward/ specially compared to tyler lockett? the bot likes lockkett… thanks

    • MB

      MB says:

Williams> Lockett. Hard to justify not being flex-worthy at this point

  7. Frank the tank says:

Hey MB! How goes it? .5 ppr league 10 team league. At this point of the season as we head to the second half / stretch run I usually like to pull off a 2 for 1 consolidation trade where I’m dealing 2 players to get 1 player as an upgrade. Based on my players would you advise a 2 for 1 swap & if yes who would you package?

My RBs are DJ, Melvin Gordon, brieda, ekeler, kerryon , Nick Chubb, Doug Martin

My WRs are Hilton, Keenan Allen, amari Cooper, Sterling Shepard, Doug Baldwin, Geronimo Allison, Tyler Boyd, kupp, Hogan

    My TE oj Howard

By doing a 2 for 1 not only does it consolidate my roster it opens up a roster spot so if I wanted to add a backup qb for later in the season (my starter is Winston), or a backup TE

Who are some players you’d target in a 2 for 1 deal?
I’m trying to get most of my trades done next two weeks , my second child is due in November so I’ll be running on no sleep lol

    Thanks man!

    • MB

      MB says:

I’d try Chubb and DJ for Thielen or Barkley. Congrats on the upcoming child!

  8. Johnny Be Good says:

Hey MB! desperate for RB with Bye’s& Injuries…

I have Cam & Rivers as QB….would you trade away Rivers to get Aaron Jones?

Thoughts on A Jones fro rest of season? Thx!

    • Johnny Be Good says:

@Johnny Be Good: Just traded Agholor to get A Jones…thouights

      • MB

        MB says:
        (link)

In theory I like it. I’d like to see Jamaal Williams less involved

  9. Jake says:
    (link)

Would you trade Chubb to get Funchess ?

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

No, you can do better for Chubb

  10. Steve says:
    (link)

I have Brees and Winston. Good idea to trade one? I need a te. Is Cook a reasonable return for Winston? Or maybe a wr like Godwin or D. Jackson? . How much can I expect for Winston? Is now the time to sell or hold a week or so? Thx!

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

@Steve: yes do cook for Winston. QB is deep that’s good return

  11. Justin says:
    (link)

half PPR, my RBs are CMC, james white, kerryon, lamar miller, chubb, clement. chris thompson.

another owner wants chubb or kerryon. who should i ask for in return. his team has Robert woods, demarious thomas, kennen allen. and should i keep chubb or kerryon?

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

Trade Kerryon get Allen or Woods

      • Justin says:

@MB: would u rather keep chubbs then for ROS?

Thanks for the great column, 10 team std league:

Pick 2 RB: Drake, Cohen, J Richard, A Jones
Pick 2 WR: Brown, Hilton, Allison, Gabriel, Tre’Quan Smith
Pick 1 Flex RB/WR from ones not picked

    • MB

      Cohen, Drake, Brown, Hilton, Gabriel

  13. Jake says:
    (link)

Would you trade Chubb for Crabtree and Baltimore D ? I am 7-0 and looking at playoffs schedules and Baltimore has a sweet schedule. I see Chubb getting scripted out of a lot of games and wondering how you feel about this move prior to making it.

    • MB

      MB says:

@Jake: I love Chubb ROS but do whatever makes your roster the most solid all around

  14. jose says:
    (link)

Does Austin Hooper have any trade value? I’ve got some bye week roster crunch going on and either need to trade Hooper or drop him. I’ve been using Njoku most weeks at TE and have been playing other positions for my two flex spots. Other offensive players on my roster are D. Johnson, Jalen Richard, J Landry, Alshon Jeffrey, Njoku, G Tate, Marquise Goodwin.

Guys on the bench on bye are Elliot, T Coleman, Prescott (had to fill in with Darnold, should be interesting), Woodyard (who is really killing me), Melvin Ingram, Hooper.

Needing to pick up or trade for a DL player or EDR. 10 team, PPR, keep 6

Could also kick (pun points!) one of Gould or Koch to waivers to fill the empty slot.

Top points guys available are: Jabaal Sheard, Benson Mayowa, Da’Shawn Hand, Mario Addison, Arik Armstead, Trent Murphy, Michael Bennett

I know that’s a lot to digest. Thanks MB!

    • jose says:
      (link)

@jose: I know trade value is pretty league specific, but there’s only one team with a worse TE and his defense isn’t really worth trading for either.

      • Yr Never Too Old For Balloons says:
        (link)

@jose: yr claiming 11 other teams have better TE’s than njoku? that seems wrong.

        • Jose says:
          (link)

@Yr Never Too Old For Balloons: it’s only a 10 team league. So, my claim was that 8 other teams have better tight ends.

I probably should have said something along the lines of: only one other would get a significant upgrade from a trade for Hooper.

    • MB

      MB says:
      (link)

Yeah I thought Woodyard would start racking up points. Nah, I don’t think Hooper has a ton of trade value. You can always try to package him. Give Jabaal Sheard a try

      • jose says:
        (link)

@MB: Thanks MB. Picked him up, but of course he showed up as questionable after being held out of Thursday’s practice. I’ll keep an eye on it and swap him out if need be.

  15. Yr Never Too Old For Balloons says:

14 team super flex, i drafted allen/peterman to lock up BUF’s QB (only have goff besides at QB), then i guessed wrong (had dropped peterman right when he was benched or just after) and grabbed back peterman over anderson (the anderson WW guy tried getting coleman for anderson, this is especially insulting as this owner should know i don’t act out of desperation/stupidity). now have kessler (could go mccaron, had kelly twice or 3 times).

this week have to play 2/3 out of brieda (might be out), RJ2 (barber might NOT be out), parker (plays tonight, and due to injuries they probably have to stop jerking him around for playing time). guessing i have to play parker here, otherwise i might end up with 2 zeros or near them if barber is fine and breida sits out or “plays” but plays the amount he did last week.

    • MB

      MB says:

That worked out nicely with parker

      • Yr Never Too Old For Balloons says:
        (link)

@MB: yeah glad i held onto him all year, can’t say the same with dez just yet. and dez really didn’t look done last year either, esp when we compare to how AP looked last year and this year it seems quite weird dez isn’t playing somewhere (unless he’s just a picky MF’er)

see if i got any adds here (after this week, it’s was at least possibly a good idea to hold RB’s due to injuries)
    14 team PPR
    QB luck
RB (2) mostart, mixon, barner, crowell, montgomery, m.davis
WR (3) AB, baldwin, jeffery, moncrief, goodwin, kearse,
    TE (1) vance
    1 flex
    IR (2) burkhead, doyle

    1. who’s my drop for doyle (probably not doing it right now though, already had the hard decision to drop vance or watson, gotta see doyle look good first)
    2. drop anybody else for: enunwa (but when he’s back at least one of kearse/him won’t have value), richardson, ris matt (NYJ), gio B (could slot him into IR 2 slot, he could be useful to me the mixon owner, i had dropped him right before he got useful last time)

20 team PPR. have these for WR/TE options:
WR (3) cobb (might not play), grant (isn’t playing), r.anderson (sure looks like he isn’t playing), hopkins, sharpe (bye)
    TE (1) vannett, doyle

    3. guessing vannett can be dropped here (dickson is back now), even with doyle having a bye in week 9 (find some scrub for TE in week 9 later), but for which of: j.reynolds (kupp out again, this time NOT a snowstorm), pettis, c.williams (ARI), conley, switzer, coleman (now on NYG), ESB (GB rookie, this would be ONLY if cobb doesn’t play, but then i’d have 1 WR dead spot anyway)

If drop Vance because I don’t like carrying 2 TEs, plus I don’t think anyone will be in a rush to pick him up. I just don’t want to drop Goodwin yet. If he has a bad week, drop him for Vance on Doyle’s bye. As for the 20 teamer, I’m willing to give Reynolds another try in a plus matchup
