Absconding in solitude to a Southern Colorado cave for the past two weeks, I pondered the universe, those delicious Totino’s pizza rolls, and of course, the next great buy for your fantasy football team. Entranced in the depths of transcendental meditation that would make The Buddha blush, two syllables appeared in the ether over and over. Tre – Quan, Tre – Quan, Tre – Quan. The universe has spoken and Tre’Quan Smith must be acquired at once. The third round rookie out of Central Florida is a WR4 for now, but top 20 WR numbers for the rest of this season are well within the realm of possibilities with Ted Ginn out for the year. Anyway, here’s some more players to buy or sell this week in fantasy football:

Buy

Stefon DiggsAdam Thielen is stealing the show in Minnesota, but don’t forget about the more talented Viking’s receiver. Stefon has been Diggsing my fantasy team a hole the past two weeks, but on the plus side, we’re getting a great buying opportunity on his WR1 potential rest of season.

Rob Gronkowski – Gronk stayed behind in New England this past weekend to be with his 1,200 girlfriends but the big man should be back this week. If his owner is desperate for a win and you’re sitting pretty, see if you can land Bobby Whiskers for your championship run.

Doug Martin – Does Dog Martin have anything left in the tank? I’m not sure, but with Marshawn Lynch hitting the IR, I expect Gruden to give DMart every opportunity to take the lead back job in Oakland.

Jalen Richard – Little Richard is the Raider running back to own in PPR leagues. That said, both Richard and Martin should be added in all formats.

Raheem Mostert – Mostert is the beneficiary of Matt Brieda being one of the most-hurt running backs in the league. Seriously, is there any part of Brieda’s body that hasn’t been injured already this season? Mostert is averaging over 6 YPC and he’s easily better than Alf Morris at this stage in his career.

Geronimo Allison – I talked up Chief Geronimo before the season and he was off to a great start prior to the concussion issues. Coming off a bye, Geronimo is ready to smoke the peace pipe out in L.A. this weekend.

Christian Kirk – The Cardinals offense looks hopeless, but nothing is ever as bad as it seems. OC Mike McCoy has been fired and Kirk has already shown a decent floor in recent weeks. There’s huge upside here if the Arizona offense improves. From previous weeks I’m still buying David Johnson, Ronald Jones and Rashaad Penny.

Sell

Amari Cooper – Wide receivers changing teams mid-season don’t have a great track record. Is there an optimistic Cowboys fan in your league?

Royce Freeman – Even I didn’t expect Phillip Lindsay to be this much better than Royce Freeman when I wrote about him prior to week 1. On top of the stiff competition for carries, Freeman is now battling an ankle injury as well. Shop Royce around and see if any believers remain. If push comes to shove, he can be dropped in shallow leagues.

Julian Edelman – He’s a risky WR2 moving forward considering his injury history and Gronk returning this week. If you can get fair value in return, make the deal, but I’d want at least a couple Totino’s pizza rolls. Just make sure you nibble the corner of the pizza roll first for cooling purposes to avoid the nuclear explosion in your mouth.

10% FAAB enough for Tre’Quan? Or should I push it a bit more. WR FAAB isn’t as inflated in this league as RB. Also, is he worth a #1 waiver priority or should I hold onto it?

And who would be a good WR or TE target for Clement in PPR league that has some RB hungry owners? Thanks

@DLNG: 10% sounds good to me, I think 15% would be fine if you really want him. Really tough to say on the #1 priority since who might be available in the future is so league dependent…you know your league better than I do.

I’d see if I could get a WR2 like John Brown, Kenny Golladay, Tyler Boyd type range for him. Maybe George Kittle, Eric Ebron, Jared Cook if you need a TE.

      Good luck

Hey man ! .5 ppr league I wanna add Tre’quan Smith off waivers however I’m in a pickle since I have Melvin Gordon & Kupp in my IR slots but in order to add a player I need to activate both Gordon & kupp as they are both listed questionable currently.

I was thinking activating Gordon by dropping my second 2. Then activate kupp by dropping Hogan

    — now that is squared away I was thinking dropping Geronimo Allison to add treQuan Smith

My rbs : dj, Melvin Gordon , brieda, ekeler, Chubb, Doug Martin , kerryon

My WRs: Hilton, Keenan Allen, amari Cooper, Sterling Shepard, kupp, Geronimo Allison, Tyler Boyd, Doug Baldwin, Hogan

    I don’t own a 2nd TE or a 2nd QB

Would you be comfortable dropping Geronimo or could that come back to bite me?

    Thanks man!

@Water boy: Strong team. I think I’d hold tight or try to package a couple guys together for an upgrade.

    2 league PPR rankings:
    1. : sharpe, richardson, s.roberts, d.moore, humphries

    2. 20 teamer with:
QB (1) luck, rosen (issue being they have the same bye week, but rosen was only possible starter left in draft)
RB (2) drake, mixon, montgomery, ivory, ekeler
    WR (3) a.wilson, r.anderson, hopkins, cobb, grant
    TE(1) o’leary, doyle
    1 flex
best waiver ordering (dropping a.wilson except when noted): sharpe, RJ2 (this would leave me with 4 WR total, but for now might be best idea), vannett (dropping o’leary), roberts, c.williams (ARI), inman, harris (WAS)

  5. Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
    (link)

    12 teamer where i have
QB wentz (attempting to drop ratley for dak attack or beat it hard for the week 9 bye just now)
RB (2) barkley, chubb, coleman, richard, barber, royce
WR (2) k.allen, jeffery, sanu, shepard, cobb, ratley (a drop)
    TE (1) RSJ
    1 flex
    IR (1) doyle

other than dropping ratley for a QB backup for week 9:
    1. drop barber or royce for any of RJ2, ivory (this seems like short term value i don’t need though), barner (similar to ivory, but probably more shortish term value)
    2. drop cobb for t.smith (smith comes off WW a day later than all the others though, so unless i were to attempt no player adds tonight this seems unlikely)
this league weekly reset to standings waiver so i never have a good one (i’m not best team either, but for some reason this year in a LOT of leagues i’m say 3rd-4th (for 12’ers) best team with a better record than i deserve, 12th (in a 20), and some other crazy good luck thus far). this league i’m 6th best team with tied for 3rd best record.

    • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
      (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: also, even if i were to NOT use any waivers tonight to try to help myself get t.smith here that’s no guarantee, not everybody uses theirs (most do though, i usually use it 3 or 4 times a week, including D streamer, but this week i already have ARI (only PIT ranked higher that’s a FA))

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: 1) Hold 2) I’d take Tre’Quan over Cobb if you can

      • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
        (link)

@Donkey Teeth: if i don’t think PIT this week is that much better than ARI (they are ranked closely) and i don’t worry about missing out on dak vs TEN (for week 9) vs one of:
        tannehill/brock lobster vs NYJ
beat it hard vs OAK (he also comes off WW tomorrow night, not tonight)
        BUF QB vs CHI (nope)
        carr @ SF
        mariota @ DAL (nope)
        darnold @ MIA

i could just waiver nobody tonight, then move up to probably at least 4th overall WW and try for t.smith (NO) tomorrow (and beat it hard if dak is gone). this is not my standard procedure in leagues like this but here it might make sense.

        • jason batteiger says:
          (link)

@Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo: yeah now 5th in WW, should i drop cobb or sanu for t.smith if the waiver works (did get dak/PIT not having to use a waiver, which seems like stealing)

          • Joey Jo Jo Jr Shabadoo says:
            (link)

@jason batteiger: or fitz, rudy’s bots hate sanu/cobb now, of course it also has meredith ahead of t.smith (it must be slow to adjust to more recent snap counts, and anyway clearly smith’s got the upside vote).

With cooper trade and lynch injury, am I correct in ranking my waiver this week as Richard, Aaron Jones, GEronimo Allison, and Jordy Nelson considering ROS? How much percent FAAB on Richard, 50% crazy? Thank you!

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

@miles proudfoot: I would actually put Geronimo in front of Richard and Jones unless I really needed an RB.

50% seems a bit high but if you’re desperate for RB and you think he’s the best that’ll come along ROS then go for it.

      Good luck

this best order for nabbing in half PPR (i can’t get RJ2 or richard since it’s asinine yahoo and i dropped both, richard to get baldwin, dropped somehow, but with michel’s thing i need depth now)
QB RW3, flacco (bye week, he’s the drop for RB)
RB (2) michel, gurley, mixon, clement
WR (2) landry, jeffery, hilton, allison, baldwin, kupp (i sent out some trades for baldwin going away to get martin or drake, only owner in league with depth has those, the other has powell but he’s hurt who knows how much. the drake offer refused but the martin sits open)
    TE (1) rudolpho
    1 flex
    IR (1) doyle
RB order: mostart, barner, barber, blount, penny, montgomery, m.davis, ivory

@Tee Not Air Jags: ROS: Barber, Mostert, Penny, Ivory, Barner, Blount, Montgomery

Just this week: Ivory, Mostert, Barber, Barner, Penny, Davis, Blount

  10. Bobby says:
    (link)

Howdy donkey! Did I screw up? Last week I added Doug Martin as a speculative add should I have added Jalen Richard instead? .5 ppr and Martin is the last RB on my bench I figured it was low risk & thought gruden likes going to the veterans; and likes Martin?

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

      @Bobby: Howdy!
I wouldn’t sweat it. .5 ppr I have them neck and neck. DMart could easily be the more valuable RB…

You have been having a remarkable year so far… 1/2 PP
    QB Rodgers, Cousins
RB D Johnson, Lindsay, Hines, M Davis
WR AB, OBJ, Allison, Kupp, MVS, Kearse
    TE Graham,

I want to take your advise and trade for Diggs but I am not sure how to go about it. The Diggs roster:
    QB Ryan(bye) Beathard
    RB Gurley, K Johnson,

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

      @JohnsonKupp: Thanks!
It doesn’t look like a great match but maybe you could try to send Cousins and Kupp for Diggs since he has Matt Ryan on bye. Kupp and Diggs shouldn’t be too far off in value…

      Good luck

  12. JohnsonKupp says:
    (link)

You are having a strong year… I want to take your advice on acquiring Diggs, what would be a good offer? 1:2 PPR
    QB Rodgers, Cousins
RB D Williams, Lindsay, Hines, M Davis
WR AB, OBJ, Allison, Cobb, MVS, Kearse
    TE Graham

    opponent has
    QB Ryan(bye), Beathard
RB Gurley, K Johnson, Gore, J Williams
WR Diggs, Boyd, M Goodwin, Fitz
    TE Engram, Clay

I was thinking OBJ for Diggs and K Johnson… Any ideas? What do you think I could get for Cousins? Or should I wait for him to go off this week against NO? Thanks

    • Donkey Teeth

      Donkey Teeth says:
      (link)

@JohnsonKupp: OBJ for Diggs and Kerryon is fair.

I would trade Cousins for pretty much anything you can get since you have Rodgers. He’s a decent sweetner piece in a trade. Could also consider shopping Rodgers.

Maybe see if there’s anyway you can pry Gurley away from this owner? He’s the one guy I’m not afraid to overpay for right now….DJ, OBJ, Cousins for Gurley, Diggs is worth a shot.

i see the this week ranking of grant (IND) vs roberts (OAK) but ROS PPR for super deep league grant still ahead? have cobb/grant/sharpe/r.anderson/hopkins (start 3 WR, 1 flex).

also, best super flex dynasty stash:
c.kelly (the fact that he wasn’t released yet is telling), mccarron (carr and everybody “running” the offense at OAK (grudening in full effect) hated by rest of team openly now), chainsaw kessler (probably a few game minutes from that job yet again).
