While my wife and I were going through the newspaper this morning, clipping out coupons for our trip to the store, I thought to myself ‘I really need to work on my openings for articles. This is really just embarrassing for everyone’. My second thought was ‘I should write up a post that explores some value plays in a yahoo league this year…and eyebrows need waxing. Hope we have a coupon for that’. Now as much as I’d love to give you value plays at every position, I just can’t. Tight Ends are either going well over their ADP or they’re right in line so you’re just gonna have to make do with what I got. What this will tell us is what their average draft pick has been so let us take a peek under the hood over in the yahoo drafting arena. At this point, I think we can all agree that rankings aren’t going to tell us where the value lies. Oh and why yahoo, you ask? Because we’re doing what is called The Razzball Commenter Leagues and we’re using yahoo for them. If you’re up for playing, click on that last link to find out more and then click on this link to find the next great football stadium treat. Mmmm, tasty!
Matt Ryan (Rank: 41, ADP: 84.8 or 9th round) – What would you expect me to lead an article about a value play off on other than the man I’ve been touting since May? Unfortunately, we didn’t draft in May and I have a funny feeling this revision of rankings over at Yahoo will probably kill this one before long. That said, I did do a mock in which two people were on auto and they STILL skipped Matt when their turn came about so it’s really going to depend on who in your league is or isn’t in the know. But now that you know, don’t let them know, you know?
Peyton Hillis (Rank: 62, ADP: 100.7 or 10th round) – I blame you, Madden 2012. Hillis has been a roller coaster ride over the last two seasons going from free agent diamond in the rough in 2011 to 2012 cubic zirconia. Now he’s the goal line back on a team that plans to run the ball quite extensively and he’s being overlooked again. I get it, Jamaal Charles is a sexy pick and no one sees Hillis getting many touches because of it. Well, for us in the know, let’s take advantage of this glaring oversight, shall we?
Reggie Bush (Rank: 43, ADP: 69.7 or 7th round) – So let me get this straight. RBBC is a dance craze that is sweeping the NFL nation and we’re letting a running back who’ll get the bulk of the carries for his team and who is also an adept receiver drop below Frank Gore in drafting? I get it, you don’t trust him nor the team. Understandable. But he’s RB2 capable this year in both standard and PPR leagues and getting treated like he’s a flex or even a bench RB. Mind: boggled.
Antonio Brown (Rank: 44, ADP: 61.4 or 7th round) – Seriously looks like the 7th round is the place to go this year for being undervalued. Now I know he didn’t score many touchdowns last year but as I mentioned in my Yahoo Team Of My Dreams last week, touchdowns can be fickle. If Brown can nab just a few more touchdowns, he’s going to be a steal in the draft.
Pierre Garcon (Rank: 70, ADP: 94.4 or 10th round) – Somehow, Robert Griffin, III keeps creeping up in the draft while his WR1 is slipping down. I’m not even going to begin to try and apply an understanding of that logic. I’m just going to say he’s undervalued and stop this post before my head implodes.
