I have a long-held belief that many of these athletes in high-level college football and the NFL will produce numbers– it’s just a matter of opportunity. Consider Jameson Williams a sterling example of that belief. After a few seasons wallowing away on the bench at Ohio State, Williams transferred to Alabama and altered the trajectory of his career.

Jameson went from playing a bit part in Ohio State’s receiver production to a starring role in Alabama’s . Williams racked up 1,572 yards receiving and 15 TDs on 79 catches during his lone season in Tuscaloosa.  The former Buckeye is a true burner able to beat any defender deep. He is a lover of all things football demonstrated by his participation on special teams; in the return game and the punt cover units. Not many receivers of his caliber are willing to play gunner on punt coverage.

Williams joins a receiving room in Detroit that is desperate for playmakers. Amon-Ra St. Brown had a great rookie season, and Tight End T.J. Hockenson is a solid blocker and receiver, but both of them lack the elite speed that can take the top off a defense. That’s where Jameson mixes in; offering an intoxicating blend of pass-catchers sure to warm the souls of Lions fans.
