With three drafts in the books and one more to occur (minimum) prior to the kickoff of the 2022 fantasy football season, it has become apparent you can win your league in the double-digit rounds. Assuming you did not make any major mistakes in the top nine rounds and did not reach for too many of the highly touted rookie WRs, then your tenth round out can bring positive results with these players I love to target and draft later.
After each of my names, I will offer some Honorable Mentions for players I do not own but who fit the theme of after 10th round.
Jameis Winston – QB – New Orleans Saints: Waiting until the Top QBs are off the board and then jumping on Joe Burrow in Round 8 allowed me the flexibility to draft high-performing RB/WR when others were drafting Allen, Mahomes, Herbert, Lamar, Hurts, Kyler, etc. Coming back in the 12th round with Famous Jameis excites me in my 12-team Best Ball league. There are very few negative points in the league scoring system, so I am not concerned with interceptions and am fully behind Winston throwing 30+ times per game. Volume equals points and I will happily take this volume. Honorable Mention: Trevor Lawrence, Matt Ryan, Jared Goff.
Raheem Mostert – RB – Miami Dolphins: I am three-for-three in drafting Mostert after the 10th round. The latest I have nabbed Mostert is in the 13th in RazzBowl #4. Each of the times I have selected him, Mostert has gone after Chase Edmonds who I want nothing to do with. Mostert does come with some injury concern/risk, but you cannot predict injuries, so I am comfortable rostering him at the low investment cost. Mostert is a true HR hitter and plays in a division with one solid defense (Buffalo), so I am not concerned with that aspect. I fully expect Edmonds to be Edmonds thus allowing for more rushing/receiving opportunities for Mostert. The Miami offense is Tua/Tyreek/Waddle and defenses will have to protect against those passing threats thus opening up lanes for Mostert to exploit. Honorable Mention: Mark Ingram, Isiah Pacheco, Khalil Herbert.
Tyler Lockett – WR – Seattle Seahawks: The fall from fantasy relevance boggles my mind. Sure, Russell Wilson is gone. Sure, Geno Smith is the starter.  Sure, the Seahawks are going to struggle to win games. With all of those negatives and a suspect running game (look at the weak OL) and that tells me they are going to be trailing in most second halves and will need to throw the ball in an attempt to win. The beneficiary of those fantasy points is most certainly D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett and only one of those guys is slipping past the 10th round.  I just grabbed Lockett at the top of the 11th round (Pick 121) in a H2H format as a backup/bye week replacement for Pittman, Waddle, Cooks, Lazard, Olave. Tell me going into 2022, you would not have loved to be guaranteed Tyler Lockett as your WR6. Honorable Mention: Nico Collins, Jahan Dotson, D.J. Chark.
Pat Freiermuth – TE – Pittsburgh Steelers: The Steelers have always produced steady if unspectacular TEs. Not all have been receiver-first TEs, but most have been solid players. Since the fantasy football era started, the two best are probably Eric Green and Heath Miller. Though young and not as established as the two names above, Freiermuth is quickly moving up the list and has been almost forgotten as a fantasy asset. Think about who will start the season throwing to him…Mitch Trubisky. Not the Mitch we saw in mop-up duty for the Bills, rather, the Mitch we saw fail as the 2nd overall pick by the Bears in 2017. I think the Steelers will readily admit they are not the same deep down the field offense without Big Ben. That means more intermediate, safe throws in the middle of the field for Mitch. To me, the value of Najee (1st round talent) and Freiermuth both go up with Trubisky under center. If Trubisky fails, insert Kenny Pickett and I think the results are the same. Snag Freiermuth near the end of your draft, especially if you spent up on a TE earlier. I think Freiermuth can be a serviceable starting TE in a 12-team PPR (or standard) league and will be an even better safety net/bye week player to stash. Honorable Mention: David Njoku, Mike Gesicki, Albert Okwuegbunam.
