Don’t be sad that the fantasy football season is over; be glad it happened in the first place. However, if you are among the many football enthusiasts who play dynasty-format fantasy football, you know the season never truly ends. So while we might be staring down the barrel of the NFL offseason, there’s plenty to be done as a dynasty manager. Between now and the beginning of training camp is when champions are made. This week, Jon and myself are joined by Dave Kluge of Football Guys to break down all of the NFL free agency news and what it means for your dynasty squads.
NFL Free Agency News
There have been many moving parts and pieces since legal tampering started on March 13th. This week, we dive deep into the moves we’ve seen and what it means for these teams as we approach the NFL Draft.
Da’ Bears!
Before legal tampering had even started, the Bears made a huge splash in the NFL world. General manager Ryan Poles may have redeemed himself for the bugled Chase Claypool trade. The Bears dealt the number one overall pick in this April’s draft to the Carolina Panthers. The Bears got WR D.J. Moore, The Panthers’ ninth-overall and 61st-overall picks in 2023, plus three more future draft picks.
Will D.J. Moore see a resurgence within a new team and a new QB? Does this help Justin Fields? What will Poles do with the team’s six picks in the first four rounds of the draft?
There’s More? Lot’s More!
March 15th marked the beginning of the 2023 NFL league year (Happy New Year!). There was a flurry of action to go along with it.
- Former Green Bay WR Allen Lazard got paid by the New York Jets, inking a four-year, $44 million contract.
- RB David Montgomery moved west to Detroit as the heir apparent to Jamaal Williams.
- Josh McDaniels is putting the band back together, bringing in free agent QB Jimmy Garoppolo to pair with former Patriot Jakobi Meyers.
- Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliot be released post-June 1st, saving the team $10.9 million in cap space and cementing Tony Pollard as the team’s RB1.
- In a head-scratching move, Las Vegas traded away talented TE Darren Waller to the New York Giants in return for the 100th overall pick in the upcoming draft.
