It was a wild offseason for the AFC East, one obviously highlighted by the Packers’ trade of Aaron Rodgers to the buzzworthy New York Jets. How will Rodgers’ arrival in the division impact the results of the rival Bills and Dolphins? And where do the once-mighty New England Patriots fit into all this? Let’s dive in and take a closer look.

4. New England Patriots

Last season’s record: 8-9

Current Vegas over/under: 6.5

Frascella’s prediction: 7-10

The storyline: Is this the last hurrah for future Hall of Famer Bill Belichick? Rumor has it Belichick’s on the hot seat heading into this NFL season, and I can certainly understand why: It seems like the game has passed him by a bit, right? My way or the highway just isn’t gonna cut it anymore, and relying solely on defense? Sounds like a relic of the past. Belichick’s seat is hotter than the sun dancing in fire.

Fantasy sleeper: WR1 JuJu Smith-Schuster was once a ‘name’ player in this league, but that kind of hype has certainly died down. We can get him at a great, low average draft position (ADP) right now, and his route tree matches up very nicely with Mac Jones’ specific throwing tendencies.

Fantasy bust: Mike Gesicki is a TE who always looks the part but never quite gets the job done. Plus, Belichick hasn’t had much luck with tight ends lately, when you look at Jonnu Smith, Dalton Keene and Devin Asiasi in recent years.

3. Miami Dolphins

Last season’s record: 9-8

Current Vegas Over/Under: 9.5

Frascella’s prediction: 10-7

The storyline: Can Tua Tagovailoa stay healthy for the entirety of the season? If so, I could see the Dolphins bumping up to 11 or 12 wins if all breaks right.

Fantasy sleeper: Current RB1 Raheem Mostert is always glossed over, but has Dalvin Cook actually arrived yet? Seems more likely that Cook is going to end up with the division-rival Jets, leaving Mostert and much-hyped rookie Devon Achane to carry Mike McDaniels’ committee backfield. But what if Achane breaks out as a sophomore, as opposed to a rookie? There’s still opportunity for the veteran Mostert here.

Fantasy bust: Gotta go with Tua because there aren’t many other options, if any. There’s no way I’m betting against Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, two of the absolute best wide receivers on the planet, and TE Durham Smythe doesn’t really come with any fantasy hype. Tua’s concussions are a very unfortunate concern.

2. Buffalo Bills

Last season’s record: 13-3

Current Vegas Over/Under: 10.5

Frascella’s prediction: 11-6

The storyline: Is Sean McDermott’s team ever going to get over the hump? They’ve been close, but where’s the proof in the pudding?

Fantasy sleeper: Rookie TE Dalton Kincaid could be a potential force. GM Brandon Beane specifically noted that Kincaid was selected for his pass-catching ability. That’s exactly what we love at the fantasy football TE spot.

Fantasy bust: RB James Cook just doesn’t do it for me. He’s not his brother, Dalvin, and Damien Harris can be very effective when he gets rolling downhill. I just think Cook is a little too hyped right now.

1. New York Jets

Last season’s record: 7-10

Current Vegas Over/Under: 9.5

Frascella’s prediction: 12-5

The storyline: Will Aaron Rodgers be The Messiah for the Jets? Is he the one to finally break their never-ending playoff drought?

Fantasy sleeper: WR3 Mecole Hardman is scheduled for a larger role in the Jets’ offense than he had in KC. Garrett Wilson will be expecting double teams, so the middle of the field should be wide open for Hardman’s slants and quick-cut routes.

Fantasy bust: Breece Hall could be in big trouble if the Jets sign Cook this week. The former’s ADP is simply too high in relativity right now.

I’ll see ya right back here next time for the AFC North!
