Quarterbacks
- Player: Justin Fields
- Game: at Indianapolis
- Stats: 22/34, 312 passing yards, 1 TDs; 55 rushing yards, 2 rushing TDs
It’s not a coincidence Fields had his best game as a Steeler against the Colts. The Indy defense is average in terms of points allowed to QBs but has allowed two QBs, C.J. Stroud and Fields, to finish in the top 10. The Colts have given up 300 passing yards games in consecutive games, including Caleb Williams’ best game of the season in Week 3. Trevor Lawrence gets his opportunity at home against the Colts in Week 5.
- Player: Jordan Love
- Game: vs. Vikings
- Stats: 32/54, 389 passing yards, 4 TDs, 3 Ints
Love returned quicker than initially reported and delivered for the fantasy community. The Green Bay WRs are once again viable in all formats! Entering this game, the Vikings allowed the seventh-fewest points and only 2 passing TDs by QBs, so this was sort of surprising if you ask me. Minnesota will see a familiar face in London against a struggling Aaron Rodgers and Jets offense. As for the Love, he has an A+ matchup against the LA Rams, who are allowing the fourth-most points to QBs. Get all the Packers into your lineups next week.
Notables:
Joe Flacco was returned to our fantasy lives. I know Michael Pittman Jr. and even Josh Downs shareholders are not complaining. If Anthony Richardson can’t go, just know the Colts face the Jaguars who are allowing the most points to QBs. C.J. Stroud threw for 345 yards and 2 TDs on Jacksonville.
Jayden Daniels is a must-start QB the rest of the way and might be matchup-proof. He has three top-five finishes through four games into his rookie season. His one bad game wasn’t due to turnovers, just didn’t get into the endzone via the air or ground. The Browns might be the best defense he’s seen all season, but I have no reason to believe he won’t have success.
Kyler Murray should been better going up against the Commanders who have allowed the most points to QBs entering Week 4. He finished as QB21. Trey McBride not suiting up could have played a role in his lackluster performance, but something to monitor if he cannot return next week.
Running Backs
- Player: D’Andre Swift
- Game: vs. LA Rams
- Stats: 16 carries, 93 rushing yards, 1 TD; 7 receptions, 72 receiving yards
Just when we were all writing him off, Swift had a game to remember for the Bear faithful. I would take this game with a grain of salt as the Rams’ defense has given up the seventh-most points to RBs. If Swift doesn’t have a similar performance next week against the Panthers who are giving up the most points to RBs, then it’s time to worry. Chase Brown just rushed for 80 yards and 2 TDs on Carolina. As I alluded to earlier, the Packers get the Rams next and Josh Jacobs should bounce back nicely with a positive game script.
- Player: Brian Robinson Jr.
- Game: at Arizona
- Stats: 21 carries, 101 rushing yards, 1 TD; 3 receptions, 12 receiving yards
Pencil in your RBs against the Cardinals as their rushing defense allows the fifth-most points to RBs. Robinson and the Commanders exploited them for 216 rushing yards and 4 TDs. Robinson has 3 TDs in four games but has been boom-or-bust in the yardage department. He has two games under 40 yards and two over 100 yards on the ground. Robinson gets a neutral matchup against the Browns in Week 5 which allowed the Vegas backfield to rush over 100 yards.
Notables:
The Andy Dalton effect is well and alive with Chuba Hubbard. He has his second consecutive game rushing over 100 yards and 4 catches. He gets a great opportunity against the Bears who allowed 102 rushing yards on 21 carries between Jonathan Taylor and Kyren Williams over the past two games.
The Steelers’ defense has been tough to rush against (second-best), yet Jonathan Taylor posted 21 carries for 88 yards and a TD before exiting the game. Rico Dowdle appears to be the RB1 in Dallas, but I do not like his chances for a good fantasy afternoon facing Pittsburgh in Week 5.
Najee Harris was set up to have a big day against a Colts defense that allowed the most rushing yards heading into this game and Jaylen Warren was ruled out. Harris tallied 19 rushing yards on 13 carries. The Steelers RBs face the Cowboys next week who were gashed on the ground before a better performance on TNF in New York.
Jordan Mason continues to fill in admirably for CMC. Patriots had not allowed a 100-yard rusher this season until this Sunday. Mason has three games with 100 yards rushing and has an ideal matchup against the visiting Cardinals.
Wide Receivers
- Player: Nico Collins
- Game: vs. Jaguars
- Stats: 21 carries, 101 rushing yards, 1 TD; 3 receptions, 12 receiving yards
Collins is shaping up to be the WR1. He had a great matchup against Jacksonville, allowing the fifth most points to WRs. He didn’t waste the opportunity after Tank Dell was ruled out. He is dominating the target share among his teammates and has eclipsed 100 yards in three of four games. Collins will face the Bills’ defense next, allowing the second-fewest points to WRs. The Colts’ WRs will get a boost with Flacco as QB against the Jaguars in Week 5.
- Player: Chris Olave
- Game: at Atlanta
- Stats: 8 receptions, 87 receiving yards, 10 targets
After a dud Week 1, Olave has posted three consecutive games of 80 receiving yards with a rising target share. His 10 targets were season-high as the Saints are scheming ways to get him the ball. Olave will have better days ahead but his streak of 80 yards may end next week as the Chiefs have not allowed a WR to top 80 yards this season. He is a good trade-for candidate moving forward.
Notables:
If your WR1 is going against Broncos’ Patrick Surtain II, it might be a good idea to bench them. If you were considering starting a Raiders’ WR in Week 5, I strongly recommend you do not.
Brian Thomas Jr. is another rookie you should look to buy while you can. Lawrence looked his way early and often against the Texans. The Jags currently have the sixth-best upcoming schedule for WRs.
Justin Jefferson secured another receiving TD with six catches for 85 yards. That’s FOUR consecutive games with a TD to start the season. The return of Jordan Addison (3 receptions for 72 yards and one TD) should open the field for Jefferson. The Jets have only allowed two receiving TDs to WR, so Jefferson’s streak may end in London.
Diontae Johnson is entering the WR1 discussion drawing 27 targets with Dalton under center. He gets his toughest challenge against Chicago who give up the seventh-fewest points to WRs. The Bears limited Rams WRs to 12 catches for 181 yards and 0 TDs in Week 4.
Xavier Worthy could be thrust into a HUGE role with the potential season-ending injury to Rashee Rice. Rice was averaging nearly 10 targets over the first three weeks this season. It may be hard to trust him next week as the Saints allow the 10th-fewest points to WRs.
Tight End
- Player: Travis Kelce
- Game: at LA Chargers
- Stats: 7 receptions, 89 receiving yards, 9 targets
He is now the de facto number-one passing option for the Chiefs with the injury to Rice. The Chargers’ defense is susceptible to the TEs, allowing Kelce to have his best game of the season. Kelce will face the Saints defense who is middle of the pack against TEs, so expect him to be heavily involved moving forward.
Notables:
Dallas Goedert was the clear number-one passing option for Jalen Hurts due to WR injuries but his follow-up performance from last week seemed pedestrian.
Tucker Kraft came out of nowhere for 6 grabs for 53 yards and one tuddy. He has high streaming value against the Rams in Week 5, who allow the fourth-most points to TEs.
TE’s will be dart throws all season and may the odds ever be in your favor. Kansas City, Indianapolis, Carolina, Baltimore, and LA Rams allow the most points to TEs while Tennesse, Washington, NY Jets, Houston, and Detroit give up the fewest.
